Eyeball Bath Bomb from Lush

I am always really excited to reacquaint myself with fresh limited edition, golden-oldie Lush products, particularly those from the Halloween line. There’s just something about this time of year that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

When the 2018 Halloween line was announced, I was utterly devastated when I found out that the Pumpkin bath bomb was no longer in the line up.

The brand new Eyeball Bath Bomb has taken its place. As sad as I was at the loss of one of my favourite smelling bath bombs, I kept an open mind. New products keep things fresh and although I adore the Pumpkin bath bomb, the Eyeball bath bomb looked as if it had a bit more bath-art-potential. A trait I always enjoy in a bath bomb.

The first thing that I noticed about the Eyeball bath bomb was how hideous it looks. With it however being a Halloween product, its hideousness is of course all a part of its charm.

Mainly white, when it is upside down I have mistaken it for a Dragon’s Egg bath bomb more times than I can remember. When it is the right way up, you can see that it has been designed to look like a cartoonish eye ball; The bath bombs centre is a black pupil surrounded by an eerie-orange iris.

The Eyeball bath bombs scent is not at all what I imagined. Containing Brazilian orange, lavender, ylang ylang oil and rose absolute it should smell like your nan’s hand bag. It’s however nothing like your nan’s hand bag, if anything I feel it’s quite a youthful scent, one that ALL ages can enjoy.

Reading the Eyeball bath bombs ingredients list I expected it to have a rich and super overpowering floral scent, it however has a very soft and delicate scent. The lavender and rose absolute give it a soft almost musky edge and the Brazilian orange rounds both of them off adding a subtle layer of sweetness.

By all means it’s not an unpleasant scent I just wouldn’t have ever associated the scent with the Halloween season.

As soon as the Eyeball bath bomb hits the water a burst of orange erupts into the water. Dotted around the bath, black and orange bubbly streaks appear. At first the bath art it created reminded me of the Tiger Tiger Burning Bright bath bomb.

The bath art was however very short lived, I have found every Eyeball bath bomb I have used thus far, to be exceptionally quick fizzers. The bath art appeared to end almost at the same moment it began. I have seen some people say the complete opposite though.

I’m not sure if I got a bad batch or whether the pressure and type of water (hard/soft) in different areas make a difference. My skin did feel revived and fresh once I’d got out of the bath, the scent didn’t last on my skin very long but with it being so subtle in the bath I was expecting this.

If you’re not into bath bombs for bath art and prefer the gentler colours and scents then the Eyeball bath bomb would be a very good choice for you. I wasn’t blown away by Eyeball but I did enjoy using it. Sadly I have decided that I won’t be stocking up on the Eyeball bath bomb before the Halloween season is over, as I was a little underwhelmed by it in comparison to the other Halloween bath bombs, sorry Eyeball the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb is still my favourite product from the Halloween range!

Mermaid Bath Bomb from Lush

I have never been so excited and thrilled to get hold of a Lush product more than when I did the Mermaid Bath Bomb. Its name won me over from the get-go, anyone who knows me personally knows that I live in a world where mermaids, unicorns and all things magical are always very, very welcome.

If you didn’t know already, the Lush Summit is an annual charity event hosted by Lush, all proceeds made from the sales of the products that are there, go to that products chosen charity.

The Mermaid bath bomb was raising money and awareness for a charity of the same name, Mermaids. Mermaids raise awareness about gender nonconformity in children and young people while also providing support for both them and their family.

The first thing that I noticed about the Mermaid bath bomb was how similar it looked to one of my all time favourite Lush products, the Intergalactic bath bomb.

Mermaid actually looks like it is the love child of the Intergalactic and Avobath bath bomb.

It’s a gentle shade of green like Avobath and a mix of colours just like the Intergalactic, it’s so beautiful to look at, so much so that I think bath bombs should have babies together more often! 😉

Mermaid’s ingredients include: Lemon myrtle, ylang ylang and grapefruit oil which happens to be the exact same 3 essential oils that are found in Lush’s Baked Alaska soap.

Scent wise, I’d say that the Mermaid bath bomb is almost identical to the Baked Alaska soap I however find it a lot crisper.

Other products that share the Mermaid scent are the Mermaid Tail bubble bar and Snow Dragon bath bomb.

The long list of fruity ingredients are perfectly suited to this light and airy looking bath bomb, once it hits the bath water waves of pastel shaded colour erupt from it.

There are greens, pinks, oranges and bright yellows. The bath bomb dances around the water’s surface sending out swirls of bubbly, colourful patterns, I am left mesmerised by its beauty every time I use it.

Why Lush haven’t ever made it a mainline product is a mystery.

As much as I love the bold and bright colours that burst out bath bombs such as the, The Experimenter, it’s nice to experience the Mermaid bath bomb’s less intense colours. In a way it makes me feel more refreshed.

Its citrusy scent intensifies some what once in the water too, it however like its colour isn’t at all overpowering.

It’s gentle enough to lay back and relax in, yet refreshing and tangy enough to give you a boost, the grapefruit oil in it packs a subtle but very revitalizing punch.

Although the Mermaid bath bomb is quite a fast fizzer it does create some very pretty bath art. A long soak in a Mermaid bath leaves your skin hydrated and refreshed. Even once out of the bath I could see a difference in my skin, it definitely appeared brighter and revived.

I regret bitterly that I didn’t pick up several more of these bath bombs, not only are they in support of a great cause but are also a very enjoyable product.

Like the Tiger Tiger Burning Bright bath bomb, I think it is a crime for Lush to not make more of these, please, please, please bring these out online Lush, to not only raise further awareness for the Mermaid charity but to also let the world have a chance of using this beautiful bath bomb!

Incredible Mum Bath Bomb from Lush

Incredible Mum Bath Bomb

The Incredible Mum is a superhero shaped bath bomb that was first released by Lush in 2018. Its name makes it very obvious that it is a part of the Mother’s day range, and what an incredible Mother’s day range Lush have showcased this year!

The Incredible Mum Bath Bomb is quite unique when it comes down to its design. One half is orange, the other half a beautiful shade of hot pink. Its top half also has a raised, purple superhero eye mask. Incredible Mum also comes with a superhero, paper cape that is sandwiched between both the orange and pink sides.

Containing bergamot, orange flower absolute and ylang ylang oil, I knew I’d really like this bath bomb long before I had even had a chance to sniff its fruity and soft floral fragrance. Its scent isn’t the same as (but reminds me of) 2017’s Cupid bath bomb.

Both Cupid and the Incredible Mum bath bombs have bergamot and limonene in. I figure that this is what my nose picks up on when I tie the two products together fragrance-wise. I love Incredible Mums refreshing scent, although I am afraid that I am a little biased as anything that contains bergamot oil is always irresistible to me!

As soon as the Incredible Mum bath bomb comes into contact with the bath water there is an explosion of orange, pink and purple. The bath bomb dances around the water’s surface sending swirls of pink and orange patterns. As Incredible Mum charges around the bath spilling out all of that colour, it is followed by its yellow and pink, paper cape.

Although Incredible Mum is quite the fast fizzer, it is still one of my favourite products from this years Mother’s day line. Its scent stays with you throughout the whole of your bath while also remaining on your skin for several hours after getting out of the bath too. It not only leaves you smelling great and feeling physically brighter but also softens and hydrates your skin so well that you don’t even need to moisturise once out of the tub.

INCREDIBLEmum

Overall I am very pleased with the Incredible Mum bath bomb. True, it is nothing compared to the Roller bath bomb – a past Lush cult-favourite for Lushies around the mother’s day period. It is however quite the product just for its unique design and scent, CAPE AND ALL.

Many people have asked what happens to the paper cape once the bath bomb has dissolved. It’s made of paper and doesn’t dissolve alongside the bath bomb, it’s exactly the same as the secret paper notes you used to find in the Blackberry and Fizzbanger bath bombs but just on a much bigger scale.

The only negative thing I want to say about this bath bomb is in regards to its name. I honestly don’t think what I’m about to say is a huge issue BUT not everyone has a great relationship with their parents, (I dread Father’s day, I know I shouldn’t feel weird about enjoying that line of products but I do.)

For example, I feel that the Roller bath bomb sold well (not just because of its level of perfection) but because it wasn’t completely entwined by its name with Mother’s day. Unfortunately not everyone has an ‘Incredible Mum’ and I wouldn’t want anyone to feel as if they need to miss out on this product because of this.

The Madame President bath bomb that was new to this year, alongside Incredible Mum was a fabulously empowering product for women and I think Lush missed a trick by making the Incredible Mum’s name so ‘Mother’s Day’. I cannot stress enough how good this bath bomb was in every other aspect though, I am very sad that I didn’t get the chance to stock up on it.
