Giant Golden Wonder Bath Bomb from Lush

Giant Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

Lush have really pushed their giant sized bath bombs over the past 18 months. I was over the moon when the news broke that Lush’s 2017 Winter line included a giant version of the Golden Wonder bath bomb. The Giant Golden Wonder Bath Bomb’s Lush-scent-family is one of my all time favourites, Celebrate. Often compared to Champagne the more I sniff any of the Celebrate scented products, the more in love with them I fall.

The Celebrate scent is warm, inviting and impossible to resist. Containing sweet orange, lime and cognac oil the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb smells to me, just like Christmas. I can’t help but always subconsciously associate the two together. Everything about the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb is the same as it’s smaller version. It has simply just been made in to a much bigger quantity.

As well as smelling absolutely amazing, the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb puts on a fantastic show from the very first second it comes into contact with your bath water. With it being so much bigger than the original, ordinary sized bath bomb, it means that there’s five times the amount of biodegradable-paper-stars hidden inside of it as well as a shed load more secret bursts-of-colour.

The photographs I got of the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb in action below do it no justice at all. The very first time I used the smaller version I was blown away with not just the scent but the bath art it created too. I knew the giant version of it would be spectacular but it honestly took my breath away. To this day I still haven’t captured any photos that I feel worthy of showing a Golden Wonders full potential. Out of all of the bath bombs I have tried over the years Golden Wonder is still the one I will always remember as giving one of the best surprises upon first use. The giant version of this bath bomb was quite literally the best bath I have ever, ever had.

My skin during and after (for the next 3 or 4 days) felt fabulous after using the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb. The bath water it creates feels softer than silk, if my skin could speak it would demand me to use this giant bath bomb over and over on a weekly basis. The price tag for the Giant Golden Wonder is quite expensive (£12.95 as of December 2017) I therefore only allowed myself to purchase the one, at first I felt a bit guilty but after I used it I realised it was worth every penny. I’d have loved to have ordered a few more but as many of you can appreciate, it is the kind of product you only ever indulge in the once, if at all.

I actually saved my one Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb to use in our brand new bathtub. It felt like an eternity but after several months our bathroom was finally finished early December and the Giant Golden Wonder was the first product to go in it. What a perfect first bath it was too!

Overall I am super impressed with this bath bomb, it is by far the best of the giant bath bombs Lush have made to date. Yes, it is an expensive product but it takes 3 whole days to make and it is also super sized. I only got the one, I was very tempted to grab more in the Oxford Street 50% off sale but I didn’t.

It was definitely an over indulgent purchase for myself of the highest degree BUT after using it I can safely say it was the best £12.95 I have ever spent. Great job Lush!

Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

img_8591

The Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar returns back to Lush’s shelves year in, year out. I can’t actually remember a Lush Winter line without it being a fixture. It is yet another Lush product that is Snow Fairy scented, this is exciting for most of the Lush community but for the people that don’t particularly like the Snow Fairy scent, I can really appreciate your frustration in regards to yet another Snow Fairy product. Apart from the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar Magic Wand was the only other reusable bubble bar that returned this year (2017).

Winter 2016 brought us more reusable bubble bars than we have ever seen before in just one line. There was the Magic Wand, The Magic of Christmas, Santasaurus and Jester reusable bubble bars too. If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’ll know that I’m normally not the biggest fan of the reusable bubble bars. I was therefore not surprised when only Magic Wand and the, The Magic of Christmas returned for 2017. I feel as though the majority of the reusable bubble bars are purely a novelty product more than than anything else. I also find that the majority of them just aren’t as colourful or vibrant in use as the ordinary bubble bars are.

Lush clearly put a lot of effort into making the reusable bubble bars look beautiful and desirable but in my personal opinion, Lush tend to relax a little with them in regards to how well they work as an actual bubble bar. The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar alongside the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar are however the exceptions to this and I know this is why they both return every Winter without a doubt. The Magic Wand creates just as many bubbles and the brightest of pink water giving the, The Comforter bubble bar (an ordinary bubble bar) a serious amount of competition.

For me the Magic Wand reusable bubble bar ticks every box of the things I look for in a bubble bar. It looks princess-beautiful, smells fantastic, creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, all while turning your bath water a sparkly and inviting shade of pink. Pink is my favourite colour so a Magic Wand bath is always a real treat for me.

The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar creates a generous amounts of sugar-sweet scented, fluffy white bubbles in no time at all. I can easily get 6 baths out of just the one bubble bar which makes it incredible value for money. To use it all you have to do is hold it under the tap as you run your bath. Once you have the desired amount of bubbles you simply place it on the side so that it can dry, ready for you to use it again whenever you wish.

Magic Wand’s decoration is very basic but so, so cute. I love seeing a big pile of them all stacked up together in store. The bubble bar part is the pink star, the pink star is held up with a wooden lollipop stick, this makes the process of making bath bubbles so much easier as you don’t need to get your hands wet at all. The Lollipop stick is then finished off with one bell and a beautiful silver ribbon made into the perfect bow.

Although the Snow Fairy scent isn’t my favourite Lush scent, the colour of the water the Magic Wand creates well makes up for it. I say Snow Fairy isn’t my favourite but this by all means doesn’t mean I hate it, I just prefer the spicier or citrus scented Lush scents. The Snow Fairy scent however grows on me that little bit more with every Lush Christmas that passes. When it comes down to bubble quantity, the Magic Wand holds its own, I always get a copious amount of bubbles that last throughout my soak. The only negative is that it doesn’t leave my skin as soft or hydrated as I’d like.

Last year Lush however solved this negative for me with the release of the Snow Fairy body conditioner. Now all I have to do during a Magic Wand bath is slap a bit of body conditioner on my legs, knees and elbows. This leaves me feeling as soft as silk and because both products share a scent I don’t have to mix Lush scents either, I just smell of Snow Fairy through and through!

Bombardino Bath Bomb from Lush

I had always passed on ordering a Bombardino Bath Bomb when it was in the Lush Kitchen. When money is tight and you’re not sure what a product even smells like, it is safer to just save your money for something you know you’ll love. This attitude makes it very difficult to find and explore new products but sometimes it’s just not possible to do so. As much as we’d all like to buy everything Lush ever made it’s not very realistic. Unfortunately the Bombardino had fallen into the ‘maybe another time‘ category, every time it came up on the Lush Kitchen menu for me.

Now that the Lush Kitchen has however stopped being a weekly affair, I thought I’d try out the Bombardino as it was a part of the Lush Kitchen Winter exclusives this year (2017). Upon the bath bomb’s arrival I realised that what I had ignorantly regarded as a bit of a novelty product was actually one of my best Lush discoveries yet.

The Bombardino is a relatively small bath bomb and is not much bigger than the original Think Pink bath bomb. Its smaller size is reflected in the products price so I didn’t feel to hard done by. Everyone also knows that size doesn’t matter, especially when it comes down to Lush bath bombs! Although each Bombardino bath bomb is designed to look the same, where they are hand made each have their own unique quirks. I particularly like the Lush products that are designed as little creatures, the handmade variations of each individual item gives every single one their very own personality which is all a part of Lush’s charm.

I had never actually heard of a Bombardino until Lush made the bath bomb. I had to look it up on Google (how did we ever get by without it?) and apparently it is a hugely popular drink throughout Italy during the Winter season. For this odd but incredibly cute bath bomb Lush have taken inspiration from a best served hot, Winter drink which also happens to be just how I like to take my baths…

The Bombardino bath bomb has a unique blend of ingredients, it contains vanilla absolute and both lemon and bergamot oil. Its scent reminds me of vanilla custard, brown sugar and shortbread. A lot of people have compared it to the Yog Nog bath bomb, I can see what they mean however, the Bombardino has a scent all of its own. I am in shock that Lush haven’t tried to create more products with its scent as it’s beautifully moreish, even before you’ve plonked it in the bath.

Once the Bombardino bath bomb is in the water it starts to quickly fizzle away, it wasn’t until it was in the bath that I realised it shared some elements that were very similar to the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream. I think this was because of the cocoa butter that is in it. As soon as I detected the similarity between the two, I grabbed a bottle of the shower cream to use with it.

The Bombardino bath bomb is a very fast fizzer, this was what I had however expected considering its size. What really stood out for me with this product was how quickly it changed the bath water, within seconds of it entering the bath the water became so much softer and silky to the touch. It created the perfect environment for my dehydrated-Winter-beaten-skin. My skin lapped it up and felt and looked at its best for the next couple of days.

Overall I am really impressed with this bath bomb and very unimpressed with myself for not trying it a lot sooner. I have a million and one cocktail ideas spinning in my head right now, the Bombardino bath bomb is so versatile. I think it would pair nicely with Let the Good Times Roll Fresh Cleanser, the Pumpkin bath bomb and of course the The Magic of Christmas bubble bar, I really, really wish that I had ordered more.
