Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub from Lush

Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub

One of the very first products that I ever got from Lush was a pot of lip scrub, from the very first use I was hooked. Previous to this I had never used an exfoliator for my lips that worked better. I now only use Lush lip scrubs. Before the release of the Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub, Lush’s lip scrubs had always been sold in a glass 25g pot. Lush are however striving to change the cosmetic industry by creating packageless ‘naked’ products. Enter Lush’s NEW naked lip scrubs.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. I was blown away that a product with such a basic ingredient list worked so much better than any other expensive exfoliators that I had tried and hated. Caster sugar is the perfect ingredient for gentle yet effective exfoliation. Making a naked and solid version of their much loved potted lip scrubs is quite literally the best idea Lush have ever had.

The potted lip scrubs work like a dream but since trying the naked versions I doubt i’ll be buying the potted versions ever again. Lush have managed to improve what I already deemed as perfect, I honestly raved about the potted lip scrubs but they are nothing compared to the new naked versions. Black Rose is from the Yummy Yummy Yummy scent family and therefore shares its scent with the much loved Roller bath bomb. It has a beautiful and light fruity scent and one that I don’t mind using on my lips at all.

The difference between the naked and potted lip scrubs apart from the obvious is that the naked lip scrubs are solid, when I have been asked to describe how the new naked lip scrub feels I always compare it to a sugar cube.

With the lip scrub being solid you can apply so much more pressure on your lips during application, it makes buffing away the dry bits of skin so much easier than it was before. If you have long nails like me then you’ll be pleased to know that there is also no more trouble fishing the product out of the pot. In the photo above I have already used the lip scrub 6 times. A little goes more than a long way and it works quickly and with minimum effort.

All you have to do is rub it on your lips in a similar way you would put lipstick on. Once you feel satisfied you then just wipe the sugar away to reveal smooth and lovely looking lips, some even just lick it off! it’s perfectly safe to do so too.

Another thing I noticed is how moisturising the Black Rose lip scrub was I wasn’t expecting that at all, especially considering that it’s a solid product. I am over the moon with the Black Rose naked lip scrub, I don’t think I have ever been more satisfied in a product before. I am so excited to try and review the others too.

Butterbear Wash Card from Lush

Butterbear Wash Card

Last year (2016) I decided that I did in fact quite like the Butterbear bath bomb, when I first got into Lush I was one of those ignorant shoppers that just went for the brightest and biggest product never giving products like the Butterbear or Butterball a chance. It wasn’t until I used the Butterball shower gel that I realised just how moreish the Butterball scent family was.

The Butterbear Wash Card is a brand new Lush product that is a part of their recently released Winter line. There are several of these ‘soap paper’ products available from Lush right now. Before I tried the Kiss Me Quick wash card earlier this year I had always thought of the soap paper products as a bit of a novelty, Kiss Me Quick however opened my eyes so I couldn’t wait to give the Butterbear wash card a go.

The idea behind soap paper is that it is solid. Having a paper consistency means it weighs less than a shower gel and of course, it is naked and doesn’t need packaging. It is also the perfect product to travel with, it’s small, light and because it’s not liquid it can be taken on to planes etc. To use the Butterbear wash card all you need to do is rip a tiny square off of it, you then work it in your hands the same way as you would soap. It lathers up easy peasy and is surprisingly hydrating for your skin.

Although the wash cards won’t ever replace my shower gels or creams they are worth having a few around just in case, I always have one in my purse because you never know when you may need one.

In the Butterbear wash card Lush have captured the Butterball scent perfectly, it has the same soothing and warming, vanilla and cocoa-butter fragrance that I’ve loved ever since trying the Butterball shower gel. Apart from its scent, my favourite thing about the Butterbear wash card is how much use you got out of such a small amount of the product.

Pulling off his little leg wasn’t easy but he didn’t lose his leg in vain. I have seen a lot of people shocked by this wash cards smaller size, please don’t let this put you off of picking one up though. The Butterbear wash card is small but it runs rings around some of the larger products available at Lush, especially when it comes to how many uses you get out of just the one wash card, it’s a bargain!

Plum Snow Bubble Bar from Lush

Lush’s Plum Snow Bubble Bar shares its scent with the hugely popular shower gel Plum Rain. Just like the shower gel it is a dark and sexy purple. Out of the wide selection of bubble bars released this Winter, I’d say that Plum Snow is the biggest as well as the best value for money.

The bubble bar in the photo above was actually made by me, I’m so ridiculously proud of myself (even though it was really easy) That’s not me belittling the Lush compounders by the way, what I achieved in 10 minutes they could do in seconds! It’s a skill I wish I had, making it was so much fun and such a therapeutic process.

The Plum Rain scent family is a fairly new one, the shower gel equivalent of Plum Snow was only released last Summer, it is fairly unexplored in other product formats, there has only been a shower gel and body spray prior to this, I was therefore really excited to hear of it coming out as a bubble bar. Plum Snow’s scent is one of the most interesting scents Lush have on offer, the scent is refreshing, warm and inviting, I can never get enough of it.

A very little amount of Plum Snow goes a very long way, due to the bubble bars size I was not expecting this at all. What I initially thought was fairly good value for money is actually incredibly good value for money. The smallest amount creates copious amounts of fluffy white bubbles and its scent once mixed with the hot water is just as delightful as the shower gel.

Plum Snow not only creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles but also turns your bath water a gorgeous shade of purple, it is such a deep and beautifully rich purple, it’s a colour you’d expect to see an evil queen’s cloak in, in a Disney film. There is just something so majestic about it. It’s actually a very similar shade of purple to the dresses my bridesmaids wore at my husband and I’s wedding earlier this year.

I just can’t get over how dazzling the water looks underneath the blanket of bubbles, it’s so pigmented and as I said above a little of the product goes a very long way, I used the smallest amount for the below photo!

Not only does Plum Snow smell and look delightful once in the bath, its waters are also silky smooth and fabulous at keeping your skin hydrated. Lying back in a Plum Snow bath is my idea of heaven after a long and hard day. It soothes away any tension and helps me get into a nice and relaxed state of mind.

The Plum Snow bubble bar has satisfied me in every which way, it ticks every box in what I like in a bubble bar and it made its way onto my favourite bubble bar list from first use. It’s huge, a little of it goes a long way, it smells incredible and creates so many bubbles and the most beautiful purple water. I really hope Lush continue to expand the Plum Rain scent through other products, a body lotion would be very welcomed into my home, hint, hint!
