Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb from Lush

Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb I know, I know, it’s only September how dare I use the C word. I wouldn’t normally use it until November at the earliest myself but after last weeks Lush Creative Showcase, I’ll admit to over indulging in the making of Christmas products, with it I got a little carried away, being surrounded by all of Lush’s brand new Winter line products didn’t help either.

I was a little disappointed at the smaller (brand new to me) bath bomb collection this Winter, this meant there was a lot riding on this red and white bath bombs shoulders. As I said above, I would normally leave the in-your-face-Christmas-product-reviews until a few weeks before Christmas itself but once I’d used the Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb I couldn’t help but want to share my thoughts with you on it as soon as humanly possible. Enter my first ‘C word’ product review in the festive month of September…

The Christmas Sweater bath bomb was the first of the new bath bombs to catch my eye at the 2017 Lush Creative Showcase. Piled up high, there was just something about this products warm colours that had me intrigued. I went straight over to the nearest display of them to give one a sniff.

As its name would suggest, the Christmas Sweater’s design is inspired by the infamous Christmas sweater, decorated with 2 stitch-like reindeer and snowflakes, this product is quite literally a warm and cheery bath bomb equivalent of a snuggly Christmas sweater. This bath bomb is the answer to my prayers, although I really did want to see a return of the Hot Toddy shower gel and the Christmas Kisses bubble bar the Christmas Sweater bath bomb has similar elements, this left me super eager to try it.

As soon as the Christmas Sweater bath bomb hits the water a wave of thick, bright red foam erupts out of it, jam packed with spicy and stimulating ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger and clove bud this bath bomb is perfect for me. Due to several medical conditions I unfortunately struggle with widespread chronic pain every day, there is no escape from it but using products such as the Christmas Sweater bath bomb helps a lot.

Much like the Cinders bath bomb, Christmas Sweater helps put my aching muscles at ease, I am so glad that Lush have listened to their customers, there is always space for warmer, more spicy products. Since Lush discontinued their Phoenix Rising and Granny Takes A Dip bath bombs I have really struggled to find a bath bomb that helps so well. After just one go of the Christmas Sweater bath bomb, I knew that I’d most certainly be stocking up on this before Winter is through.

Another surprise I wasn’t expecting from the Christmas Sweater bath bomb was the amazing bath art, I couldn’t stop taking photographs, I always try to keep my reviews short and sweet meaning I don’t include many photos, I couldn’t however not share the above photos with you. Reds, oranges and whites, not only was Christmas Sweater a treat for my aching body but also my eyes.

Scent wise I’d compare the Christmas Sweater bath bomb to the (mentioned above) Hot Toddy shower gel, it however isn’t as strong, it’s a subtle cinnamon scent with a slight spice. Just writing this review is making me want to use one again. I cannot wait to get my new bathtub in so that I can use this must-have Winter product until my heart’s content. Well done Lush you’ve captured Christmas in this bath bomb perfectly!

One Eskimo Bubble Bar from Lush

When I heard that Lush had released a bubble bar that shared its scent with the Christingle body conditioner I couldn’t help but get excited as in the Summer, Christingle is my go-to-product. Although Christingle is typically sold as a part of Lush’s Winter line, it is perfect to use during the sweltering months of Summer.

The One Eskimo Bubble Bar is currently only available to purchase in a small selection of stores, the below photo was taken at Lush’s flagship store in London, Oxford Street and is also where my current stash of them came from. This gorgeous bubble bar’s scent is identical to the super stimulating Christingle body conditioner and this Summer it has been flying off of the shelves.

The One Eskimo bubble bar contains a long list of menthol-fresh ingredients. Peppermint spearmint and grapefruit oil are blended together to awaken and stimulate your body, this mix is perfect for cooling you down while also refreshing your body, mind and soul.

At first I was unsure about it as, as explained in my Christingle body conditioner review, the body conditioner made me feel so cold after using it, I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to use its bubble bar equivalent as it would feel like having a bath full of ice cubes. Although this would be desirable for some with the current Summer heat, just the thought of a bath full of ice cubes is hell on earth for me!

Luckily bathing myself in a One Eskimo bath didn’t leave my skin tingling and icy in the same way as the body conditioner-equivalent does. In fact, I think I favour the One Eskimo over the Christingle body conditioner. I am extremely sensitive to temperature due to suffering with several different medical conditions. This means I can’t always regulate my bodies temperature in the same way as others, additionally if I am too cold it makes my joints hurt and if I am too hot it makes my joints swell up while also causing me to feel nauseated.

A hot One Eskimo bath is the perfect balance for me. The heat of the water relaxes my muscles while the peppermint helps to refresh my skin leaving me cool and refreshed all at the same time. Peppermint is also my go to essential oil if I am ever hit by a wave of nausea. Pushing all of my personal needs aside I can still see this product as being loved and more than useful by many other customers with both the same and different needs from me.

A very small amount of One Eskimo creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, it’s a very cost effective bubble bar which is always a product-perk that I enjoy and look out for in Lush. After all, who doesn’t like getting more for their money?

When One Eskimo is used it turns the water underneath the blanket of bubbles a beautiful and bold shade of blue. Products with peppermint in often leave my skin in need of some extra moisture after use, One Eskimo however leaves my skin soft and fabulously well nourished, just a 10 minute soak leaves my skin brighter and so very refreshed.

Rumour has it that the One Eskimo bubble bar will be making its way to all stores and online when the 2017’s Winter line is released. I really hope this is true as I love this bubble bar, it’s a breath of fresh air and is just what Lush needed to add to their ever growing collection of amazing cosmetic products!

Marmalade Jelly Bomb from Lush

Marmalade Jelly Bomb

The Marmalade Jelly Bomb is the last of the 4 recently released jelly bombs that I have yet to review. At first I really wasn’t sold on the idea behind the jelly bomb however after trying and enjoying The Big Sleep, Green Coconut and Dark Arts jelly bombs I was eager to try out Marmalade. When the information on these 4 jelly bombs leaked online, I admit that out of the 4 of them I was most excited to try Marmalade as I am a sucker for anything citrus.

Including a long list of brightening, uplifting and awakening ingredients – Brazilian orange, grapefruit and orange flower absolute to name just a few, I was so sure that sharing a bath with the Marmalade jelly bomb was going to be an amazing experience.

When my postman delivered my parcel containing the Marmalade jelly bomb I opened it up and was instantly greeted with a very bitter and sharp citrus scent, it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. The grapefruit in the Marmalade jelly bomb was completely different from what I had grown to love throughout the use of the Frozen bath bomb. The Marmalade jelly bomb’s scent is very intense, so much so that I was hoping that the scent dampened down somewhat once put into the bath water.

Unlike the other 3 jelly bombs Marmalade has an extra hidden treat, inside is several chunks of orange slice reminiscent of the, The Sicilian bath bomb. As Marmalade comes into contact with your bath water it begins to ferociously hiss, sending a thin layer of small orange bubbles with a jelly like foam consistency across the waters surface. It was at this point that I realised the scent of Marmalade wasn’t going to dampen down, instead of the bath water diluting the jelly bombs scent it in fact strengthened it. It was at this point that I realised I’d finally come across a citrus based Lush product that I didn’t like.

I called my husbands name, I have very unstable joints so need assistance when getting in and out of the bath, I didn’t want to stay in the bath or the bathroom for another second. With the jelly bombs I advise being in the bath when you use them, this is because as the jelly forms it can make the bath quite slippery. I find that the slippery surface does however disappear as the jelly slowly dissolves into water. I got out and because I hadn’t given the jelly a chance to dissolve the bath tub needed a good hose down.

Even though I was only in the water with the Marmalade jelly bomb for a few minutes I did notice how soft and hydrated my legs felt once out. If you can stomach this jelly bombs scent then I’d definitely recommend it if you have dry skin, the effect the seaweed based sodium alginate ingredient within the new jelly bombs has on your skin is like nothing I have experienced while using Lush before. Each of the jelly bombs have left my skin in the perfect condition. Soft, hydrated and bright.

I personally won’t be using the Marmalade jelly bomb again based just on its scent. Unfortunately it’s just not a scent I enjoy. I get a lot of comments on my Instagram account saying that I ‘big up’ all of the Lush products regardless of how I actually feel about them. This isn’t true at all, I always tell the truth and I guess this post is proof. It’s not often I dislike a Lush product but sadly when it comes down to the Marmalade jelly bomb I’m not keen. It does have good qualities too and I have mentioned them above, scent is however very important to me when it comes down to Lush products so on scent alone I won’t be buying this jelly bomb again.
