Cheery Christmas Bath Bomb from Lush

As a self-confessed lover of all things pink, the Cheery Christmas Bath Bomb was always going to be the first bath bomb from the Christmas 2018 range that I gravitated towards. This hexagon shaped bath bomb has a perfectly etched, white snowflake design on its top making it very easy on the eye.

I actually had a chance to make one these at the 2018 Lush Showcase; The compounders make it look so easy, I am not ashamed to say it was actually really hard work. The bath bomb pictured above was mine, I was very pleased with myself. Let’s all pretend that this took me 10 seconds (like the compounders) and not 10 minutes… Doh!

Although pink isn’t the first colour that comes to mind when you think of Christmas or snowflakes, this bath bomb really does fit in with the other seasonal products perfectly. The best part about the Cheery Christmas bath bomb however hasn’t been mentioned yet… I assumed because of its pink colour that it would be a Snow Fairy shower gel scented product. I don’t dislike the Snow Fairy scent, it is just so over used over the Christmas period.

We already have the Snow Fairy jelly bomb so I kept my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t be Snow Fairy scented and I’m pleased to announce that it’s far from Snow Fairy scented! Containing buchu and Sicilian lemon oil the Cheery Christmas bath bomb has quite the unique scent.

Off of the top of my head I think the last product to come out that contained buchu oil was the Scrub Scrub Scrub shower scrub. It is a very strangely fragranced ingredient but not at all unpleasant, it has a strong blackcurrant fragrance with hints of mint, mixed with the Sicilian lemon oil I find the Cheery Christmas bath bombs scent both uplifting and relaxing.

Just like the scent of the Naughty Elf bubble bar, Cheery Christmas’ scent isn’t something I’d immediately associate with Christmas BUT it really does fit within this years range. As soon as Cheery Christmas hits the water it creates a mini explosion of foam, pink flecks whizz out of the bath bomb and then you notice lots of blue foam too. I wasn’t expecting any blue at all! – This was a fantastic surprise. My photos do the bath art this bath bomb creates no justice at all.

The blue and pink bath art is reminiscent of the Twilight bath bomb but the colours definitely have more clout. Cheery Christmas turns your bath water into a dark pink shimmering pool of beauty, I couldn’t help but run my fingers through the mesmerisingly soft waters, letting the water cover every inch of my skin leaving my skin silky smooth and ready to take on the rest of the day.

Overall I am really impressed with this bath bomb, it’s unique scent and design makes it stand out from all the rest, I have wrapped a few up to put in my bath bomb storage before they retire with the rest of the Christmas line. I think next year they could bring out a blue version of it with a pink middle too, maybe make it the same scent as the Frozen bath bomb? hint, hint Lush! 😉

Yog Nog Yule Log Bubble Bar from Lush

When I first heard about the release of the Yog Nog Yule Log Bubble Bar I was super happy as it shares its scent with the Yog Nog bath bomb. Lush’s Yog Nog scent is a classic Christmas fragrance that is perfect for the festive period.

The Yog Nog Yule Log bubble bar is brand new to Lush this year and smells just like warm, gooey cinder toffee. Packed with warming cinnamon and nutmeg powders, it’s the perfect amounts of both sweet and spicy.

Designed and made in the same way as a Battenberg cake the Yog Nog Yule Log looks good enough to eat. Disclaimer, do not eat it, it’s a bath product. I just thought it was best that I clarify this as I wouldn’t want to mislead anyone. (it really does smell and look irresistibly delicious though…)

I managed to get 3 very well bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Yog Nog Yule Log bar. I could have probably stretched it out to more than 3 baths but I’m a greedy guts.

To use bubble bars like the Yog Nog Yule Log I either crumble, or break it up then stick it in a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use the single use bubble bars, nothing gets wasted – making it the best way to maximise their true bubble potential.

Yog Nog Yule Logs scent remains just as delicious as it did at the start of your bath, right up until the last bit goes down the drain after pulling the plug. I found that this bubble bar left my skin exceptionally soft and perfectly hydrated, so much so that I didn’t need a body lotion afterwards.

Underneath the blanket of fluffy white bubbles is shimmery gold water, nowhere near on the sparkle-par as the waters after a Golden Slumbers bath (thankfully!) but it is equally as mesmerising. I prefer the Yog Nog Yule log bubble bar much more than the Yog Log Roulade from a few Christmas’ ago.

With this months release of the Yog Nog perfume in the Lush Kitchen, I can really go to town with layering up the Yog Nog scent. What pleased me the most about the Yog Nog Yule Log was how long its scent did last on my skin after using it in the bath (and I’m talking about without putting the perfume on too). It leaves me smelling like a scrumptious Christmas biscuit well into the next day, it truly is Christmas in bubble bar form.

I always find bubble bars quite tricky to review, I try to stick to small factors; their scent, design, bubble power etc. As difficult as I find reviewing them it’s safe to say that for me, the Yog Nog Yule Log bubble bar gets a big tick for everything I like in a bubble bar. Thanks Lush, yet another Lush product I need to stock up on before Winter is through. As if I need anymore! 😉

Scrub Scrub Scrub Shower Scrub from Lush

Scrub Scrub Scrub is Lush’s most recent potted-shower-scrub release. It was only a few weeks ago that I was talking about the growing popularity of black Lush products in my The World’s Smallest Disco review. The Scrub Scrub Scrub Shower Scrub is yet another, brand new black product.

I have found that when it comes down to the black products, the people within the Lush community either get really excited about trying them or they freak out asking why anyone would use such a product in the bath or shower (a place you get in to get clean.)

At first I too felt a little alarmed at the idea of bathing in Bewitched‘s or Secret Arts’ black waters but I tried them and I had nothing but a positive experience with both. – Clean up included! It was therefore a no brainer to give Scrub Scrub Scrub a go and I am so pleased that I did.

This scrubs consistency is very similar to the likes of the Magic Crystals shower scrub. Its ingredients include charcoal, blackberry, lime, blackcurrant and plenty of fine sea salt making it the perfect go-to product for an all over exfoliation.

It doesn’t share a scent with another Lush product but it does remind me of the, The Comforter bubble bar a little. It’s got the same blackcurrant twang but its scent is more coarse, it gives off very autumnal vibes.

It actually reminds me of Autumn because it smells just like the fruit pies my nan used to make after having us all out picking hundreds upon hundreds of berries. scrubscrubscrubWM

I am always honest in my reviews and I admit that a small part of me still feels a small amount of panic whenever I first take off Scrub Scrub Scrubs lid. I think it’s a psychological thing. It’s just such a bizarre coloured product to put all over your body when the main goal for your shower/bath is to clean yourself.

I have however not had any bad experiences with Scrub Scrub Scrub. NONE. People expect to come out of the shower looking like a chimney sweep but that’s not the case at all.

Yes, it can get a little messy during use but it rinses off just fine and without having to use another product such as a shower gel. Shower walls included! As I said earlier, it’s a psychological thing, once you get past its colour you start to realise how good of a product it actually is. It hydrates your skin, absorbs all of your pores impurities while also buffing away all of your dead, dry skin.

To use all you have to do is scoop out a small amount from the pot and work it into your skin just like you would a shower gel. A little amount does go a long way but please feel free to over indulge. With any exfoliator I recommend that you pay particular attention to any dry patches you may have such as knees and elbows.

Scrub Scrub Scrub leaves your skin softer in appearance as well as to touch. Its fruity fragrance remains on your skin long after using it too.

Apart from its repetitive name (I’ve read and written the word ‘scrub’ so many times now that my brain is starting to question if it’s even a real word!) I actually really like this product. I am so glad that I didn’t let its colour deter me. Scrub Scrub Scrub is a fantastic addition to the potted shower scrubs. Lush – thank you for yet another beautiful product!
