Snow Fairy Naked Shower Gel

Last Winter I decided to step out of my comfort zone when it came to trying Lush products. There would strictly be no more avoiding a product based on my first impression of it, I was going to give each product a fair chance to impress me. I make it no secret that the super sweet products from Lush are normally my least favourite. Since introducing this new rule of mine it has really helped me broaden my Lush horizons. There are so many Lush scents and products I now love that I wouldn’t ever have considered trying before.

The Snow Fairy scent is one of Lush’s most popular winter fragrances, its scent has been used in so many products in so many formats that it’s not very easy to remember them all. I honestly wasn’t that sold on the scent at first, I have however warmed to it over the years. The fact that it is bright pink works in its favour too as pink is my favourite colour.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll have heard about Lush’s new naked products. Much like the Snow Fairy scent at first I wasn’t sold on the naked products. After trying the Twilight naked shower gel I however decided that they were actually quite a good idea. Especially for people such as myself that struggle with bottles and lids because of bad hands.

The Snow Fairy naked shower gel has pretty much the same ingredients as the original bottled up Snow Fairy shower gel, the only difference is the sodium stearate, this ingredient is what makes the product solid. All of the naked shower gels work in exactly the same way as their bottled equivalents. To look at I’d say it was soap, despite this the naked shower gels contain no soap base at all. You use a naked shower gel just as you would a normal shower gel. Instead of fiddling with a lid and then squidiging the product out of the bottle you now just have to lather the naked shower gel similar to how you would a bar of soap. (It however really isn’t a bar soap!)

The naked shower gels are squishy to the touch, solid enough to hold their bottle-shape but squishy enough to help give you an easy lather. The Snow Fairy naked shower gel is just as consistent as the normal shower gel is, I cannot tell the difference between the naked and normal shower gels once I am lathering it up, washing my body.

Overall I think the naked Snow Fairy shower gel is just as good as the bottled version. I actually find it more moisturising, although you can layer the Snow Fairy scent up onto your skin further by using some Snow Fairy body conditioner alongside it, I don’t feel it is necessary once you’ve used the Snow Fairy naked shower gel. Snow Fairy is not one of my favourites of the winter scents but the Snow Fairy naked shower gel has earnt itself a place up on my shower gel shelf, this way I have easy access to it and can use it whenever I please.

Butterbear Wash Card from Lush

Last year (2016) I decided that I did in fact quite like the Butterbear bath bomb, when I first got into Lush I was one of those ignorant shoppers that just went for the brightest and biggest product never giving products like the Butterbear or Butterball a chance. It wasn’t until I used the Butterball shower gel that I realised just how moreish the Butterball scent family was.

The Butterbear Wash Card is a brand new Lush product that is a part of their recently released Winter line. There are several of these ‘soap paper’ products available from Lush right now. Before I tried the Kiss Me Quick wash card earlier this year I had always thought of the soap paper products as a bit of a novelty, Kiss Me Quick however opened my eyes so I couldn’t wait to give the Butterbear wash card a go.


The idea behind soap paper is that it is solid. Having a paper consistency means it weighs less than a shower gel and of course, it is naked and doesn’t need packaging. It is also the perfect product to travel with, it’s small, light and because it’s not liquid it can be taken on to planes etc. To use the Butterbear wash card all you need to do is rip a tiny square off of it, you then work it in your hands the same way as you would soap. It lathers up easy peasy and is surprisingly hydrating for your skin.

Although the wash cards won’t ever replace my shower gels or creams they are worth having a few around just in case, I always have one in my purse because you never know when you may need one.

In the Butterbear wash card Lush have captured the Butterball scent perfectly, it has the same soothing and warming, vanilla and cocoa-butter fragrance that I’ve loved ever since trying the Butterball shower gel. Apart from its scent, my favourite thing about the Butterbear wash card is how much use you got out of such a small amount of the product.

Pulling off his little leg wasn’t easy but he didn’t lose his leg in vain. I have seen a lot of people shocked by this wash cards smaller size, please don’t let this put you off of picking one up though. The Butterbear wash card is small but it runs rings around some of the larger products available at Lush, especially when it comes to how many uses you get out of just the one wash card, it’s a bargain!

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar from Lush

This precious little formation of melt is called the Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar, it was first released for Halloween 2016 and must have made quite the impression as it has made a return for Halloween 2017 too. There were so many brand new products last year that unfortunately some of the smaller less in-your-face products such as the Goth Fairy were overshadowed. This is why I had left reviewing it for so long. Now I have seen that it has made a return for a second year I guess I should spill how I feel about it…

Lush shimmer bars are basically massage bars but with shimmer. A bit like a body moisturiser you apply it to your arm legs and possibly chest, working it into your skin just as you would a massage bar. I have also heard of some using it on their face as highlighter. The Goth Fairies purpose is to adorn your skin in shimmer as well as decorate it with a light and fruity scent.

The Goth Fairy shimmer bar shares its scent with the discontinued and very much missed, Space Girl bath bomb. It glides on to your skin effortlessly and leaves your skin  looking and feeling well nourished with a subtle sparkle which is perfect for a night out.

The only negative I have on the Goth Fairy is its small size, I remember being presented with it last year and thinking, ‘oh… is that all of it?’. A little however does go a long way and it is a product you do use sparingly, that is unless you really do want to look like a real life fairy!

Overall I do like this product, it works brilliantly on your arms and legs and I feel it gives the illusion of your limbs being thinner and longer. This is obviously not something everyone will want out of it but for this purpose I will be taking a Goth Fairy with me on my honeymoon at the end of the month. Originally I thought that the Goth Fairy shimmer bar was a bit of a novelty product but after using it I can see myself always reaching for it for a night out. It wouldn’t be an everyday product for me but on the rare occasion that I do go out, I would definitely use it.
