Luigi Shower Gel from Lush

Lush’s most recent collaboration with the, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is Lush’s most popular collaborations to date. Today I’m going to be reviewing the Luigi Shower Gel. This neon green shower gel has been flying off of the shelves since its release.

Both shower gels from the, The Super Mario Bros. collection, Luigi and Mario, are remakes of older shower gels. Mario is a remake of Santa’s Christmas and Luigi is a remake of the So White shower gel.

Remakes of older products can sometimes be a little boring and feel stale but Lush have really outdone themselves with the Luigi shower gel, IT IS PERFECT. Everything I wasn’t too keen on in the So White version has been perfected in Luigi. I absolutely adore the Luigi shower gel; I’m going as far as to say that I think it’s my favourite shower gel Lush have ever released. EVER. It puts all of the others to shame.

As I said earlier, the Luigi shower gel is neon green, the scent it comes in is from the So White/Once Upon A Time Lush-scent-family. I much prefer the Luigi shower gel over the So White shower gel because the formula is much better; It’s thicker and doesn’t need a good shake before using it. With it being a much thicker formula, it doesn’t slip out of the bottle so easily, So White was always very watery, which is the complete opposite of Luigi.

Even though the Luigi shower gel is quite thick it’s easy to get out of the bottle making it perfect for people like me who have bad hands. You can see from the photo above how sturdy the formula is by how well the blob in the photo is formed.

The Luigi shower gel contains a long list of ingredients; bergamot oil, Brazilian orange oil, rose absolute, neroli oil, orange flower absolute and fresh apple juice, to name just a few!

The So White/Once Upon A Time Lush-scent-family has always been my favourite from Lush. It’s best described as crisp, freshly sliced apples. Past products that share the same scent include, the Rumba shower jellyOnce Upon A Time body lotion and body spray, the Partridge in a Pear Tree, and Atom Heart Mother bath bombs.

The scent of the Luigi shower gel is at its best when it comes together with the hot water and steam of your shower. I have tried this scent family in so many product formats before now, but none have carried the scent as well as the Luigi shower gel.

The sweet apple scent is so incredibly mouth-watering; it just works so well in the shower gel format. The scent of the shower gel quickly fills your bathroom and remains in the air and on your skin, long after you’ve got out of the shower. After use, my skin is left super-clean, perfectly hydrated, and silky-smooth to the touch.

I am devastated that the Luigi shower gel is only a limited-edition product as it really is the best Lush shower gel I have ever used. I have my fingers crossed that the Super Mario Bros makes as many films as Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts combined so that there’s always an excuse for Lush to stock it. 😉

What more can I say about this incredible shower gel? I didn’t think it was possible to get so excited over a shower gel but here I am! Do I recommend the Luigi shower gel? YES!!! Grab it while you can and make sure you save a bottle or 4 for me while you’re at it!

The Olive Branch Bath Bomb from Lush

Very recently I found an old USB full of photos of Lush products that I thought I’d lost in a house move. I thought I’d explain that, as I am sure that a lot of my readers will be wondering where the sudden influx of old-Lush-product reviews have come from… I have had notes on certain products written up for years sat without any photos to use, hence me not ever officially reviewing them on here BUT with my old USB of photos it’s now possible to finally finish my reviews on them all!

Today I am reviewing, The Olive Branch Bath Bomb. The Olive Branch bath bomb first came out in the UK as a part of a huge community release back in November 2018. Before then it had only been available in one Lush store in the world, in Harajuku, Japan.

As its name suggests it shares a scent with The Olive Branch shower gel. The Olive Branch bath bomb is the standard shaped and sized bath bomb, being the same size as the Intergalactic and Avobath bath bombs.

To look at, the Olive Branch bath bomb is designed and made in exactly-the-same way as the Tender is the Night bath bomb, but where Olive Branch is orange, Tender is the Night is pink. It’s a very simple but cute looking design.

The Olive Branch bath bomb contains, orange flower absolute and the following essential oils, bergamot, lemon, Sicilian red Mandarin, and fair-trade olive oil. It’s a stunning and delicate citrus fragrance, perfect for anyone who is wary of the stronger Lush scents that Lush are often associated with.

Other products that share its scent are the Pop in the Bath and the, The Christmas Penguin bubble bars.

As soon as the Olive Branch bath bomb touches the water, small orange and white bubbles begin to spill out of it. More bubbles trickle out of it as it gently hisses away, bobbing around your bath like a tiny speedboat.

The Olive Branch bath bomb isn’t huge on bath art, its unique selling point is definitely its gorgeous scent. After approximately 5 minutes The Olive Branch bath bomb has fully dissolved leaving you with the silkiest, orange-tinted-bathwater. My skin has never felt better.

The Olive Branch bath bomb is incredibly hydrating because of the fair-trade olive oil in it BUT this doesn’t mean it leaves you feeling super oily, Lush seem to have the ratio of olive oil within this bath bomb just right. It’s just enough to moisturise your skin without you feeling at all greasy or overly oily.

Although the scent of The Olive Branch bath bomb is so gentle it can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath. After using it, my skin still feels incredibly soft throughout the next day.

Yes, The Olive Branch bath bomb isn’t as exciting to watch perform in the bath as some of the other bath bombs included in the November 2018 community release such as the Marshmallow World and Melusine bath bombs but its scent and the way it leaves your skin feeling, after using it is like no other bath bomb.

I really loved this bath bomb and am sad that it has now been discontinued, it was one-of-the-best of the plainer bath bombs that Lush have ever released. I am hoping that one day, Lush will bring it back.

Mario Shower Gel from Lush

Lush’s most recent collaboration with the, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is Lush’s most popular collaborations yet. Today I’m going to be reviewing the Mario Shower Gel. This bright red shower gel has gone down a storm with Lush customers and has brought in a whole load of new customers too! Interestingly, Mario isn’t the first bottled shower product that Lush have released in its scent. You’ll recognise its scent if you were lucky enough to try the Santa’s Christmas shower cream back in the Winter of 2017.

The most obvious difference between the 2 products is that Mario is a shower gel and Santa’s Christmas was a shower cream, but both are used in the same way. As someone who has had a chance to use both I can say which of the 2 I think were better. Without hesitation I’d pick the Mario shower gel every time.

As you can see from the photographs I have included in this review, the Mario shower gel is the brightest of reds, fitting in with Mario the character perfectly.

As I said earlier, I much prefer the Mario shower gel over the Santa’s Christmas shower cream that shared its scent. The formula is so much better, it’s a bolder red and so smooth that it oozes out of the bottle.

The Mario shower gel contains fresh pomegranate juice, benzoin resinoid and the following essential oils, Persian lime, aniseed, and black pepper. Its scent is magnificent, it’s just like a tall glass of fizzy cola with a slice of lime on its side, it’s tangy, sweet, and packed full of energy.

This truly beautiful shower gel is thick but easily glides out of the bottle, it is, in my opinion the perfect consistency for a shower gel. Another great thing about the Mario shower gel is that a very little amount of it goes an incredibly long way. You only need the smallest amount of it to wash your whole body. It lathers up quickly and cleans your skin with ease.

The scent of the Mario shower gel is at its best when it comes together with the hot water and steam of your shower. The scent fills your bathroom and remains in the air, long after you’ve got out of the shower. It not only leaves my skin clean, hydrated, brighter, and incredibly soft it also leaves it lightly scented with the cola scent too.

If you have read my review on the Love shower gel, you’ll know how disappointed I was for all of the UK customers that couldn’t get it in a bottle (Lush UK decided that the UK would only be offered the sphere options in 2023). I am thanking the Lush gods that Lush decided to scrap the spheres as I’d have been devastated to miss out on a bottled Mario shower gel. I doubt Lush would have released the Mario Bros. shower gels in anything but a bottle regardless of scrapping the spheres or not though…

2022 was Lush’s best year for shower gels, I didn’t think it was possible to top it but Lush have well and truly topped 2022 shower-gel-wise and we’re only 3 months in to 2023! Do I recommend the Mario shower gel? YES, YES, YES! Go grab a bottle before it’s too late!
