Purple Carrots Shower Gel from Lush

The Purple Carrots Shower Gel was one of 5 products available in this month’s Kitchen box (April 2022). SPOILER ALERT, I wholeheartedly believe that it is the best shower gel Lush have released in a very long time. With Calacas shower gel being the exception, Purple Carrots is now my all-time favourite Lush shower gel. A bold statement indeed, but one I stand by.

As much as I like the What’s Up, Doc? shower gel from this year’s Easter line, I will never understand how it got made a part of the Easter line over the Purple Carrots shower gel. Both are amazing, Lush have really outdone themselves when it comes to their new shower gels this year BUT Purple Carrots has blown me away so much more than the latter has.

The Purple Carrots shower gel is, as its name suggests, purple. It’s a slightly lighter shade of purple than the Plum Rain shower gel and has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency.

The Purple Carrots shower gel contains a long list of ingredients. It has both purple carrot infusion and carrageenan extract, as well as the following essential oils; bergamot, buchu and Sicilian lemon. It actually shares its scent with several past products – best remembered in the likes of the Follow the White Rabbit bath bomb and the Bunch of Carrots reusable bubble bar.

The delicate yet refreshing scent of the Purple Carrots shower gel is very nostalgic to me as it reminds me of my paternal nan and grandads house when I was a little. It makes me feel safe and uplifted, it’s a simple but beautiful citrusy fragrance that I cannot get enough of.

As I said earlier, Lush have really outdone themselves this year when it comes down to their new-release shower gels, they just keep getting better. If Purple Carrots doesn’t become a mainline product in the not-so-distant future, Lush are making a big mistake. Choosing not to release the Purple Carrots shower gel properly, would be as big of a mistake from Lush as when they decided to cut off all their customers with their ‘deletion’ of social media.

It is a crime to let the Purple Carrots shower gel be just a one-off exclusive to April 2022’s Lush Kitchen Subscription box. If Lush were still on social media I’d be tagging and messaging them every day, bugging them to bring it out as a new shower gel in their permanent all-year-round line.

As I said earlier, the Purple Carrots shower gels consistency is deliciously thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. It lathers up easily and a small amount goes a very long way. Once the hot water and steam of the shower meets the shower gel and you begin to lather it up, its scent engulfs you, filling your bathroom with its gorgeously refreshing scent.

The Purple Carrots shower gel leaves my skin looking and feeling clean, refreshed, soft and well moisturised. After I’ve used it, the scent lasts on my skin for a good few hours. It’s also really hydrating too. It seems to lock in moisture just as well as a body lotion does. Overall, I cannot recommend the Purple Carrots shower gel more, I am extremely bitter to only have one bottle of it. Lush, please, please bring it out properly!

Temptation Shower Gel from Lush

The Temptation Shower Gel is a brand-new release from Lush; It is a limited-edition product that is a part of Lush’s 2022 Valentine’s Day line.

Temptation is a rose-red and has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency. Consistency wise it is very similar to the Jolly shower gel from last year’s Winter line.

Temptation contains a long list of perfectly put together ingredients; Cinnamon stick, organic apple juice, myrrh resinoid, orange flower absolute, cinnamon leaf oil, apple cider vinegar, red rose petals and ginseng infusion. It shares its scent with Lush’s Apple Crumble bubble bar.

I am excited to see that Lush have finally brought a new apple-based scent to life. I love Lush’s So White scent (their most famous apple-based fragrance that pops up in products such as the So White shower gel and Once Upon A Time body spray) HOWEVER, new scents are always something I am happy to give a go. After all, we get dozens of different variations of citrus scented Lush products, it’s about time we got more appley ones too!

Temptation’s scent is delicious and smells just like freshly sliced apples sprinkled in sugar and cinnamon powder. It’s the perfect scent to accompany you in the shower in the cold Winter months. Its scent is both warming and refreshing.

As I said earlier Temptation’s consistency is thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. It lathers up in your hands easily and the warmth from the cinnamon ingredients really comes through when mixed with the hot water and steam of the shower.

Once you’re out of the shower, Temptation’s scent (although a lot more subtle now) can be detected on your skin for several hours after using it. It also leaves my skin feeling clean, soft, and warm; Again, making it perfect for the cold Winter months we have ahead.

It cleanses my skin well and leaves it hydrated enough to get away with not moisturising after your shower, which saves me precious time. – Something we can all do with a bit more of!

I’m ridiculously impressed with the Temptation shower gel. It feels like forever since Lush released a shower gel that I enjoy using this much. The more I use it, the more I love it. My husband has even fallen for it too. – I’ll be ordering him his own bottle so that he doesn’t use all of mine…

Temptation blows older Valentine’s Day shower gels such as Prince Charming out of the water, I cannot wait to see if Lush release more products with this scent.

Happy Skin Facial Exfoliator from Lush

The Happy Skin Facial Exfoliator was one of 6 products from September 2021’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. At the time of writing this review I am sad to say that it hasn’t been available in any other capacity again since.

At the risk of sounding like a complete drama queen, THIS IS NOT OK, AT ALL! – I’ve never liked an exfoliator for your face more. Regrettably, I let my husband try it and just like that I had to now not just ration the product on my uses of it, but his uses of it too.

Considering I have been using it at the most 2 times a week since September, (my husband considerably more because he is a diva) I think it has lasted quite well, I still have about a quarter of it left.

The Happy Skin facial exfoliator contains, bamboo stern extract, tagua nut powder, fresh jackfruit juice, sesame seed absolute, vanilla absolute, tonka absolute and the following essential oils: argan, rose hip and extra virgin olive oil.

It is described as an ‘enzymic, vitamin rich’ exfoliator filled with ‘ground tagua nut’ and is said to ‘help gently clear and brighten your skin’. To use, all you have to do is splash your face with warm water, scoop out about a pound-coin-sized amount of it from the pot, followed by you then gently massaging it over your face and neck. I like to pay special attention over my nose and the apples of my cheeks and my chin.

Once you’ve finished gently buffing the product around your face, you then simply rinse it off. Your skin immediately feels and appears a lot smoother and brighter, just 30 seconds of using this cream banishes all of the dead skin cells and microscopic dirt away while also calming the skin of any redness down too.

With it having quite a vast amount of ingredients its scent is difficult to describe, it’s like a nutty vanilla with a slight pineapple twang. My face LOVES it. My husband’s face is equally as obsessed.

The formula is light and not at all cakey like most other facial exfoliators. If Lush do not bring this out as a part of their new all-year-round skin care line next year, then we are going to fall out. It’s amazing. For me to rave about a skincare item is very rare indeed.

Lush, you probably won’t see this as you’ve sworn off of social media (🙄) but Happy Skin needs to become permanently available, my face depends on it. Plus, I’d like to get my husband his own pot so that he will stop using all of mine!
