D8 Bath Bomb from Lush

Lush have recently started to do product collaborations with a vast list of other likeminded businesses, companies and more. These seemingly popular collaborations have been churned out by Lush at such a rapid rate that it’s been difficult to keep up. None of the collaborations have however got me quite as excited as Lush’s collaboration with Netflix’s science-fiction television series, STRANGER THINGS.

If I’m being completely honest, I pretty much live under a rock and most of the collaborations before this one have been collaborations with tv shows/clothing companies that I’m not at all familiar with.

Stranger Things I have however heard of; I’d go as far as saying I’m a super fan. Even after using the products, I still can’t quite believe a Lush X Stranger Things collaboration has even happened?! MY MIND IS BLOWN!

Released back in November 2022, the Lush X Stranger Things collaboration is a gift set called the HFC Bathing Duo, AKA the HELL FIRE CLUB BATHING DUO. It contains 2 bath bombs, the D8 Bath Bomb (pictured above) and the, The Rift Bath Bomb. Today’s review is going to be on the D8 Bath Bomb.

The D8 bath bomb is quite the unique shape, designed in the shape of an 8-sided Dungeons and Dragons dice (a game the main characters in Stranger Things spend many hours playing, it’s also the inspiration behind the whole series)

I didn’t know which bit of the bath bomb to focus on in the photos, each side of the D8 has an image or number on it that is either related to Lush, Stranger Things or both, it’s such a thorough and well-thought-out creation!

The D8 bath bomb shares its scent with the Intergalactic bath bomb a great decision from Lush considering it is one of their bestsellers. D8 contains a long list of ingredients, some included are peppermint, grapefruit, vetivert and cedarwood oils.

The Intergalactic scent family is primarily peppermint, the grapefruit in it however adds a fruity and citrus sharpness to it, it’s a very hard scent to describe and really is one you must experience to appreciate.

The Intergalactic scent is powerful at first but quickly became one of my all-time favourite Lush-scent-families. I’ve been eagerly awaiting a body spray that shares its scent since 2015… HINT, HINT, LUSH.

As soon as you place the D8 bath bomb into the water it starts to gently hiss. Small white bubbles begin to spill out of it. Slowly but surely the D8 bath bomb floats around your bath, charging around like a little speed boat. After about a minute and a half a streak of red and blue begin to trickle out of the all-white bath bomb too.

The most beautiful red, white and blue bath art then begins to unfold before your eyes, the photographs I have included in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all. After approximately 5 minutes the D8 bath bomb has fully dissolved the water left behind is a cloudy greyish-light-blue and feels like silk.

I really wasn’t expecting such great bath art from the D8 bath bomb, the red, white, and blue swirls it created were picture perfect! The scent from the D8 bath bomb lasts throughout the whole of your bath and leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world. Or should I say Vecna?

Overall, I LOVED THIS COLLABORATION! I don’t think Lush could ever top this. As I said at the start of this review, I’m still lost for words that it even happened. I can’t wait to see what/who Lush decide to collaborate with next.

Zesty Body Spray from Lush

Previously known as the Calacas body spray, the Zesty Body Spray’s scent happens to be one of my most favourite Lush scents of all time. My first experience with a Zesty/Calacas scented product was when I ordered the Calacas shower gel back when Lush was all shiny and new to me.

I fell hopelessly in love after just one use and just like that, my Lush-life’s mission became trying anything and everything Lush brought out with the same fragrance.

Before the body spray’s release, I had been putting in weekly requests to Lush for a Calacas perfume for what felt like an eternity, it had been my most wanted product for well over 5 years. On the 1st of December 2018 Lush finally came through. The Lush Kitchen made a Calacas Body Spray! Since then, it has not only had a name change but has also been made into a mainline product thanks to it being so popular.

The Zesty body spray was inspired by the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead is celebrated throughout Mexico during the last week of October and first few days of November. It is a celebration in honour of the family and friends who are no longer with them.

Zesty contains lime, frankincense and neroli oils, the Zesty scent is sweet, sharp and thanks to the neroli oil an instant mood booster. Lush have joked that it’s so zingy it could wake the dead.

The Zesty scent is hugely popular within the Lush community and Lush have made it into many different product formats, my favourites that share its scent (other than the body spray and shower gel) are the Monsters’ Ball bath bombMan in the Moon bubble barThe Enchanter bath bomb and Calacas body lotion.

Zesty is a beautiful, citrus body spray. Another thing I really like about it is that it isn’t super-duper in your face strong like some other citrusy scents. One quick spray on to my clothes leaves me smelling of it all day.  I can often still smell it on my top if I wear it the next day too.

I love wearing it on special occasions so that whenever I do get a whiff of it, I feel special.

Another thing I like to do with it is spritz it on the ends of my hair. Several people have asked me what shampoo I use as my hair smells so lovely. Overall, I am over the moon with this body spray. It has pride of place on top of my dresser next to my Celebrate and Once Upon a Time body sprays.

I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb from Lush

The I Want My Mummy Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2022 Halloween line. Its sweet-honey fragrance is very similar to the scent family found in the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb HOWEVER there’s an extra element to its scent; My nose also detects something that smells like lashings of sticky caramel in it too.

It’s mouth-wateringly good and leaves me craving biscuits. Just writing this introduction is making me hungry…

Playing up to the theme of Halloween, the I Want My Mummy bath bomb is designed to look like a mummy (and not the motherly-figure type) this mummy is the zombie wrapped in bandages type. Considering it’s replicating a resurrected dead body covered in bandages, it’s actually ridiculously cute!

The I Want My Mummy bath bomb contains Brazilian orange and bergamot oils. To look at, it doesn’t stand out as much as the likes of the bold and brightly coloured Big Foot or Bat Art bath bombs but I’ll say it now and I’ll say it again, never judge a bath bomb until you’ve given it a whirl in a bath tub.

Like the Butterball bath bomb, I Want My Mummy is very plain to look at and has very few ingredients in, you won’t get bath art from it but sometimes bath art isn’t all bath bombs are good for.

No, the I Want My Mummy bath bomb doesn’t spout a kaleidoscope of colours once placed into the water BUT its scent and skin soothing ingredients make it a bath bomb you need to try at least once.

I recommend using the I Want My Mummy bath bomb in a hot-as-you-can-stand-it bath, this really helps the cupuaçu butter in it melt into the water, ready for your skin to soak up.

It’s perfect for soothing tired, dry skin. If you’re like me and need an extra splash of hydration on your skin this time of year, it’s well worth giving the I Want My Mummy bath bomb a try.

I usually use the aforementioned Butterball bath bomb at this time of year for the same skin-hydration reasons; Both the Butterball and I Want My Mummy bath bombs are very good at keeping your skin moisturised without having to slather yourself with a body lotion. It’s a quick and easy way to ensure your skin is in tip-top condition while also saving you time as you do not need to lotion up after getting out of the bath.

As soon as the I Want My Mummy bath bomb comes into contact with the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of soft white bubbles. It’s a fairly quick fizzer so it doesn’t take long for it to fully dissolve leaving you with soft, milky-like, luxuriously-smooth bath water to lay back in and enjoy.

My skin adores an I Want My Mummy bath and its delicious scent remains on your skin for the best part of the day after using it too.

Overall I love the I Want My Mummy bath bomb, it may not win any prizes for bath art but its scent and how it leaves my skin feeling makes it a firm favourite. It is very similar to the Butterball bath bomb, but I think I may just like it more. It’s nice to have a bath bomb to use that’s just as moisturising as Butterball but with a different scent.

Lush, consider yourself warned; I’ll be very disappointed if this bath bomb didn’t come back for Halloween next year!
