Chamomile Lawn Soap from Lush

Chamomile Lawn Soap.png

The Chamomile Lawn Soap from Lush is 1 of 4, 3D printed soaps that were in the Mother’s Day 2018 collection. One reason it has taken me so long to get to the point of reviewing each of these soaps are because of how pretty they are. I simply just didn’t want to rub away at their beautiful and intricate designs. Never-the-less soap is meant to be used and eventually I got around to giving them a go.

The Chamomile Lawn soap has 3 perfect chamomile flowers etched into it. Each soap is a bold, grassy green colour and packed full of calming ingredients making it the perfect soap to use after a long, hard day. Containing lavender, chamomile and neroli, Chamomile Lawn helps you wind down, relax and sets you up for a restful evening and hopefully good night’s sleep.

Scent wise the Chamomile Lawn soap’s most noticeable ingredient has to be the neroli oil. With Chamomile Lawn containing both lavender and neroli oil it is easily mistaken as sharing its scent with the Unicorn Horn bubble bar. Both are indeed very similar, the Chamomile Lawn soaps inclusion of chamomile oil however gives the soap a much stronger more rounded scent than the Unicorn Horn, it’s an almost earthy scent in ways.

The unique shape of the 4 Mother’s Day, 3D printed soaps not only makes them easy to display but also helps when it comes down to gripping them during use. I was worried that its size would cause me to have problems keeping a hold of it in use, this however wasn’t at all a problem.

Normally I would rarely use a bar of soap for anything more than just washing my hands. I however found that Chamomile Lawn lathered up easily and had a really creamy consistency so I decided to use it in the shower. A little of Chamomile Lawn also appears to go a long way, this unfortunately wasn’t the case for all of the Mother’s Day 3D soaps, we will however save that for their own review!

Although I didn’t find using Chamomile Lawn in the shower a particularly moisturising experience, my skin did feel well cleansed and soothed after use. A quick splash of Lush’s Dream Cream once I was out of the shower, helped hydrate my skin where the Chamomile Lawn soap had left me needing a hydration boost. I like to pair Chamomile Lawn with the Dream Cream body lotion as their scents are fairly similar. Overall I really enjoyed this Mother’s Day soap, it’s as good in use as it is beautiful.

Agbogbloshie Bath Bomb from Lush

Agbogbloshie Bath Bomb

You may have noticed that this bath bombs name is a bit of a mouthful, it however isn’t a name created by Lush to annoy us, it is in fact the nickname of the largest electronic waste dump in the world. The Agbogbloshie Bath Bomb was yet another product showcased at the 2018 Lush Summit. I had actually watched a BBC documentary on Agbogbloshie prior to the Lush Summit so already knew a little bit on the cause and inspiration behind this product.

Situated in Ghana, Agbogbloshie is where most of the world’s electronic waste ends up. Burning the waste is a quick and easy way to strip anything from it that could be sold on for very small amounts of money. For so many people in Ghana this is their only source of income and how they survive.

The burning of this electronic waste puts toxic chemicals into the atmosphere affecting air, land and water. Exposure to these toxins are extremely hazardous and not just to humans but to the environment too. The toxins created from the burning of the electronic waste are said to inhibit the development of the reproductive system, the nervous system, and also the brain. Concerns about human health and the environment of Agbogbloshie continue to be raised and this bath bomb represents the issue. Despite of all of these frightening facts nothing in Agbogbloshie is yet to change.

The Agbogbloshie bath bomb is the same size and shape as an iPhone. In a world where we are obsessed with technology, (especially our phones) this bath bomb of course caught most people’s immediate attention. Apart from its shape, the first thing I noticed about the Agbogbloshie bath bomb was its royal-blue-colour. Colour Wise, it’s a shade of blue that is very similar to the blue in the Intergalactic bath bomb.

The best part of this bath bomb is however its scent. Luckily for us (the consumer), the Agbogbloshie bath bomb’s scent is far, far away from the toxic stench that the people of Agbogbloshie have to breathe in. It in fact, shares its scent with the Calacas shower gel (which happens to be one of my all time favourite Lush scents!) Calacas is a hugely popular Lush scent and has featured in several other bath bombs before now. The, The Enchanter, Monsters’ Ball and Skullduggery to name a few.

The Calacas scent is refreshing, uplifting and zingy. Lush have carefully combined oil of lime, neroli, cooling aloe vera and olibanum to make this gorgeous and energising bath time treat. Although the Agbogbloshie bath bomb was a super quick fizzer I managed to get a shot of it bubbling away.

Even after the Agbogbloshie bath bomb has fully dissolved its scent remains right up until the last drop goes down the plug hole. My skin was left delicately fragranced and well hydrated too. If you did want to spoil yourself, after using this bath bomb I’d recommend putting on some Calacas body lotion, that is if you have some hanging around!

My most favourite thing about Lush is being able to layer up certain scents with different product formats, the Calacas scent is just so incredibly moreish I don’t think I will ever get bored of it. Overall I think the Agbogbloshie bath bomb is a great new member of the Calacas scented product family. It was perfect in the bath and also taught me a great deal about Agbogbloshie and how things need to change.

Plum Rain Body Spray from Lush

Plum Rain Body Spray

The Plum Rain Body Spray shares its scent with Lush’s much loved Plum Rain shower gel. The scent is actually fairly new, it made its debut in its shower gel form at Lush Oxford Street back in July 2016, since then it has become a main line product and at the time of writing this, is available in all UK stores as well as online. Due to its skyrocketing popularity, Lush not only treated us with the creation and release of the Plum Rain body spray but over last year’s Winter period also treated us to 2 brand new, limited edition products that also shared the gorgeous Plum Rain scent. The Hedgewitch soap and Plum Snow bubble bar.

Plum Rain body spray has a long list of fruity ingredients, the osmanthus absolute, petitgrain oil and Sicilian mandarin mix is a little odd BUT upon first sniff incredibly moreish. Scent wise, I believe Plum Rain to be one of the most interesting fragrances Lush currently have on offer. The scent is refreshing and warm while also being very, very inviting, I can never get enough of it. Its scent is completely different from anything Lush has created before now. It’s a very sour fruity fragrance BUT not at all unpleasant.

PlumRainBSWM

To use all you have to do is squirt the Plum Rain body spray over your body or clothes. Just 1 or 2 squirts is all you need, I’m amazed that such a small amount leaves you smelling absolutely gorgeous all day long. I can understand why so many people like the body sprays more than the perfumes. They have the same level of strength (scent-wise) and you get so much more for your money. Just a few refreshing squirts of Plum Rain is all that it takes to set you up for the whole day. I got married last year (2017) and I decided that Plum Rain would be my wedding scent. A decision I do not regret. Now its fruity fragrance will forever remind me of my wedding day.

Another great thing I have found with not just Plum Rain but all of the body sprays is how long they last. I honestly don’t know why Lush didn’t create more body sprays long before now as they really are such wonderful products. As I mentioned above they are so much more cost effective than the perfumes and all of them have such an amazing scent throw. I really hope Lush create some more body sprays soon as they are quickly becoming one of my favourite Lush products.
