Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb from Lush

The Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb made its debut appearance at the February 2017 Lush Summit. Alongside it was a wide variety of other never before been released bath bombs such as Groovy Kind of Love, Yellow Submarine and Thundersnow. In amongst all of these beautiful new bath bombs it was hard for the rather plain looking Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb to stand out.

Unfortunately for me, the Cheer Up Buttercup was the last of the Summit bath bombs that I tried. I wasn’t able to get hold of one until months and months later when it came out in the Lush Kitchen. I believe it has been an Oxford Street store exclusive since late April 2017, I however live roughly 4 hours away from the flagship store so never got an opportunity to try it even then. Luckily it is now a staple store product so everyone can get it from the UK website and in UK stores.

The version of the Cheer Up Buttercup that is now readily available is a much smaller version than what was available at the Lush Summit. The Lush Summit version was the same size as the majority of Lush bath bombs such as the Blackberry and Intergalactic. This new and rather dinky version shares its size with the smaller variety of Lush bath bombs such as the old Think Pink, Butterball and Cinders bath bomb. Although I never tried the larger sized version of the Cheer Up Buttercup its smaller size makes no difference in its quality at all.

If you thought the Avobath was a good bath bomb to use to awaken your senses then Cheer Up Buttercup will blow your head off. For such a small bath bomb it really does throw out a serious amount of zingy, energy boosting vibes.

Bright yellow in colour and decorated with a light dusting of blue cornflower petals, the Cheer Up Buttercup is bright and bold. Packed with lemon, lime and neroli oil its scent cannot be ignored. When my postman delivered my parcel of my Cheer Up Buttercup bath bombs I could smell its gorgeous scent before even opening its lid. I know some people don’t like the strongly scented Lush products this one is however a game changer.

I don’t know any other way to describe this bath bombs scent, it’s got the zestyness of Dragon’s Egg, the sharpness of Avobath and then some more. Before I had even put the Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb in the bath I knew I was going to love it.

For its smaller size the Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb doesn’t dissolve as quickly as I had thought it would. What surprised me the most is how its scent stayed with you throughout your whole bath. Some Lush bath bombs lose their scent over time, the Cheer Up Buttercup however held its ground and I have never felt so lifted from a bath bomb before.

The Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb lives up to its name, its scent really does lighten up a dark mood, I find a lot of Lush’s citrus products to be refreshing none are however on par with Cheer Up Buttercup. Hidden inside the Cheer Up Buttercup is also a fair bit of coco butter. I had no idea that it did and was very surprised when I realised, what was already soft water was now soft and super, duper moisturising. The mix of the citrus oils and the coco butter leaves your skin soft, well hydrated and much brighter.

The Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb has a warm pink inside, once it has fully dissolved you are left with light orange bath water with a pinch full of blue cornflower petals floating on its surface. Once out of the bath the amazing scent of Cheer Up Buttercup remains on your skin, it however is more subtle which will suit those who prefer the gentler Lush scents.

Making the Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb smaller was a very wise decision made by Lush. I am sure the larger version was just as good however you really don’t need it any bigger than it is now, the smaller size has the perfect quantity of everything in it. I’d go as far as saying it is one of my favourite bath bombs from Lush.

Rocket Science Bath Bomb from Lush

I am always giddy with excitement when Lush release new products. When my order of the Rocket Science Bath Bomb arrived earlier this week I couldn’t quite believe my eyes, it has such a beautifully intricate yet simple design. It’s a dark blue, rocket shaped bath bomb with a yellow flame tail, its tail is lightly decorated with a sprinkle of multicoloured stars like those found in the Golden Wonder and Stardust bath bombs.

For its current price (£2.95 as of 7th July 2017) I was expecting something a lot smaller so was pleasantly surprised with its size. It’s not particularly big like the Happy Pill bath bomb it just isn’t as small as I had envisioned, it fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.

It was just my luck that a new bath bomb would be released when the plumbing in my bathroom had give up the ghost, thankfully our plumber has fixed it, although it is only a temporary fix and could break again any minute… With this in mind I grabbed a Rocket Science bath bomb and got in the bath without further delay!

Rocket Science

As soon as the Rocket Science bath bomb hits the water it explodes with colourful foam. Scent wise this bath bomb is very unique. Containing both Sicilian lemon and bergamot oil it’s a fruity-citrus pairing, it has elements to it that remind me of the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb it however has a much sweeter and almost smoky layer to it too, I don’t want to say it’s like the, The Experimenter bath bomb as it’s far from it but it’s smoky sweet scent layer does remind me of it a little.

As the bath bomb fizzes away blue and yellow foam fizzles out of it, giving the illusion of it actually gliding through your bath water. It isn’t long after placing it in the water that it begins to gently charge around the bath leaving a yellow, star scattered streak behind it, much like a plane in the sky that leaves a small line of cloud behind.

What really surprised me is that the Rocket Science bath bomb has pink insides too! the yellow slowly disappears and then suddenly pink bursts out of it. If you’re like me and always hunt for the Intergalactic bath bomb with the most pink in it then this bath bomb is perfect for you. I am so blown away with all of the colours that Rocket Science displays, I was not expecting it to create such wonderful bath art.

Overall I am very impressed with this bath bomb, it is a fantastic edition to the Lush bath bomb family. It’s refreshing, sweet, uplifting and using it leaves me feeling energised and content. It is also very hydrating for the skin and the scent stays with you for a good 4 to 5 hours after using it too.

Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar from Lush

Photo 10-06-2017, 13 07 42.png

The Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar is yet another HUGE one! It shares the same shape, size and design as the  Brightside and the The Comforter bubble bar which makes me very, very happy. Everyone loves a bargain after all…

It was of course the Comforter bubble bar that first got me into a Lush store, I had no idea how to even use bubble bars back then. Just thinking of my first trip in to a Lush store gives me butterflies, I can remember how excited I was and how adamant I was to find a product that could be spread over several baths instead of just the one (i.e not a bath bomb) it was that day that I stumbled across Lush bubble bars.

The Comforter bubble bar was a huge success for me, it left me wanting to try all of the other bubble bars Lush have, after just one bath I was hooked. The Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds bubble bar (which I am now going to name Blue Skies for the rest of this review otherwise we’re going to be here for a very long time 😂) wasn’t a scent I was immediately drawn to. At first I always went for the fruity products, curiosity however got the better of me and I picked up a Blue Skies so that I could try it at home.

Just like the Brightside bubble bar, the smallest amount of Blue Skies goes a long way. I can easily get 6 generously bubbled bubble baths out of just the one bar. Often I break it up into 10 or 12 pieces before placing it all in a jar in my bathroom. I have several jars displayed with all different bubble bars in them, my husband calls it Lulu’s Bubble Bar, Bar… 😆

I like to break my bubble bars into lots of pieces so that I can easily mix products together. It is also a lot easier to add more of a product if you feel the bath needs it than it is to take it back out, I feel storing it like this makes me less wasteful.

Blue Skies bubble bar is described as having a scent that is, ‘an exotic, hypnotic fragrance that helps you relax.’ The patchouli and frankincense are probably the most noticeable of its ingredients to me. Patchouli and I don’t always get on as unfortunately in some products that contain it such as The Lord of Misrule bath bomb, it can trigger my migraines. I am however okay with Blue Skies, I think maybe the frankincense and cinnamon oil in it saves it for me.

Blue Skies has a very musky, spicy almost peppery scent, I wish I could detect more cinnamon in it, I think I’d use it more often if the cinnamon in it was stronger. As said above, the smallest amount of Blue Skies makes copious amounts of soft and white fluffy bubbles. It’s not until you’re sat in a Blue Skies bath that you realise why it is named Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds.

Its scent although not one I’d normally go for to help me relax does do a great job of helping me clear my head and feel calm. I love the deep blue that it turns the water too, it really is reminiscent of a beautiful Summers day.

Blue skies isn’t my favourite of the BIG bubble bars, that crown still belongs to The Comforter for now, I do however recommend Blue Skies if you’re looking for something a little different. Throughout my use of Lush I feel my sense of smell has matured somewhat. Blue Skies was a product I had to use a few times before I really started to appreciate it, I am glad I gave it a chance as it’s a much loved product to me now.
