Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb from Lush

Christmas Sweater Bath BombI know, I know, it’s only September how dare I use the C word. I wouldn’t normally use it until November at the earliest myself but after last weeks Lush Creative Showcase, I’ll admit to over indulging in the making of Christmas products, with it I got a little carried away, being surrounded by all of Lush’s brand new Winter line products didn’t help either.

I was a little disappointed at the smaller (brand new to me) bath bomb collection this Winter, this meant there was a lot riding on this red and white bath bombs shoulders. As I said above, I would normally leave the in-your-face-Christmas-product-reviews until a few weeks before Christmas itself but once I’d used the Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb I couldn’t help but want to share my thoughts with you on it as soon as humanly possible. Enter my first ‘C word’ product review in the festive month of September…

The Christmas Sweater bath bomb was the first of the new bath bombs to catch my eye at the 2017 Lush Creative Showcase. Piled up high, there was just something about this products warm colours that had me intrigued. I went straight over to the nearest display of them to give one a sniff.

As its name would suggest, the Christmas Sweater’s design is inspired by the infamous Christmas sweater, decorated with 2 stitch-like reindeer and snowflakes, this product is quite literally a warm and cheery bath bomb equivalent of a snuggly Christmas sweater. This bath bomb is the answer to my prayers, although I really did want to see a return of the Hot Toddy shower gel and the Christmas Kisses bubble bar the Christmas Sweater bath bomb has similar elements, this left me super eager to try it.

As soon as the Christmas Sweater bath bomb hits the water a wave of thick, bright red foam erupts out of it, jam packed with spicy and stimulating ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger and clove bud this bath bomb is perfect for me. Due to several medical conditions I unfortunately struggle with widespread chronic pain every day, there is no escape from it but using products such as the Christmas Sweater bath bomb helps a lot.

Much like the Cinders bath bomb, Christmas Sweater helps put my aching muscles at ease, I am so glad that Lush have listened to their customers, there is always space for warmer, more spicy products. Since Lush discontinued their Phoenix Rising and Granny Takes A Dip bath bombs I have really struggled to find a bath bomb that helps so well. After just one go of the Christmas Sweater bath bomb, I knew that I’d most certainly be stocking up on this before Winter is through.

Another surprise I wasn’t expecting from the Christmas Sweater bath bomb was the amazing bath art, I couldn’t stop taking photographs, I always try to keep my reviews short and sweet meaning I don’t include many photos, I couldn’t however not share the above photos with you. Reds, oranges and whites, not only was Christmas Sweater a treat for my aching body but also my eyes.

Scent wise I’d compare the Christmas Sweater bath bomb to the (mentioned above) Hot Toddy shower gel, it however isn’t as strong, it’s a subtle cinnamon scent with a slight spice. Just writing this review is making me want to use one again. I cannot wait to get my new bathtub in so that I can use this must-have Winter product until my heart’s content. Well done Lush you’ve captured Christmas in this bath bomb perfectly!

Calacas Shower Gel from Lush

Calacas Shower Gel.png

I believe that the Calacas Shower Gel was my very first shower gel purchased via the Lush Kitchen, why I have left it so long to review it is beyond me, as I LOVE the stuff, maybe even more than I do my husband.

I know I throw the love word around a lot but Calacas is hands down one of my favourite Lush scents ever. If I hadn’t have ordered this shower gel back in the day I don’t think I’d have even got so into Lush. It’s divine. The Calacas scent is refreshing, uplifting and zingy. Lush have carefully combined oil of lime, neroli, cooling aloe vera and olibanum to make the most gorgeous and energising bath time treat in shower gel form.

Calacas 2

If you are in need of a boost, a quick shower with the Calacas shower gel will reinvigorate both your mind and body. It’s fruity but not like anything else you’ve tried before, some people describe it as smelling like fruit pastille sweets, I can see where they are coming from but it is so much better than that. I am hoping that they decide to release the Calacas shower gel as a store product this Halloween, it has only been available in the Lush Kitchen on occasion for the last few years and I just don’t understand why something so beautiful isn’t readily available in stores. I’d love to see it as full time stock but even if they release it just for the Halloween period, that would make me a very happy Lushie.

Another wonderful thing about the Calacas shower gel is how it looks, it has actually been available in the past as several different shades, red, green and a yellowish orange. For the purpose of this blog post I have included pictures of the orange version.

I have never seen a shower gel like it, depending on how the sun catches it, it can look so many shades of orange, sometimes I even get a glimpse of it and think it is glowing. Consistency wise the Calacas shower gel is quite thick, I’d compare it to the likes of the Plum Rain shower gel which happens to be another fruity shower gel that I cannot get enough of.

Calacas lathers up well, a little of it also goes a very long way which is great considering its consistency and even better when you take into account how rare it is. I was glad to see that for Halloween 2016 Lush decided to bring out a bath bomb with the Calacas scent called the Monsters’ Ball. I have my fingers crossed that this bath bomb returns again as the Calacas scent needs to be enjoyed by everyone! it is one of those scents that work brilliantly in any format.

My favourite thing about the Calacas shower gel is how long its scent stays with you after use. Much like the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream I can still smell it on my skin hours and hours after using it in the shower. I also have very fine hair and can get away with using Calacas shower gel as a shampoo every now and again.

I am currently almost out of my latest batch of Calacas shower gel so if Lush aren’t bringing it out as a staple product for Halloween 2017 then I hope they bring it out in the Lush Kitchen again very, very soon. It’s a shower gel a Lushie should never be without!

Sex Bomb Solid Perfume from Lush

Sex Bomb Solid PerfumeBack in May the Lush Kitchen team put a list together of Lush’s most popular scents, the Lush community then had to pick their top 5 scents from that scent list. With these results the Lush Kitchen promised that they would make several never-before-been-released products in the chosen top 5 scents. Once the results had been collected I was excited to see that the Sex Bomb scent had been chosen as one of the 5.

The Sex Bomb scent is very far away from what I normally go for when it comes down to Lush products as I always favour the fruity ones, that is until I was introduced to the Sex Bomb bath bomb. containing jasmine, ylang ylang and clary sage the Sex Bomb scent is floral all the way. The Lush Kitchen worked hard and with the Sex Bomb scent they created a Sex Bomb Solid Perfume and a Sex Bomb body lotion too. When my Sex Bomb solid perfume arrived I was in love from first sniff. I regret bitterly that I never ordered the body lotion too.

Lush’s solid perfumes consistency visually resembles Vaseline, they are however not as soft and easily manipulated to the touch as Vaseline is. I’d describe them as more like a cooled, solid candle wax. The warmth of your finger heats up just enough of the product to put on your wrists and neck. I like its consistency as it stops you from using too much by accident.

Applying the Sex Bomb solid perfume is very easy, even when you’re on the go. It can slip in your pocket or purse ready for when you need it. As it’s solid it is also perfect for hand luggage when travelling. What really impressed me with the Sex Bomb solid perfume was that its scent stayed with me for a good 8 or so hours after application. This gave the Sex Bomb solid perfume a huge advantage when compared to my experience with the Brightside solid perfume. Unfortunately the Brightside perfume is barely noticeable on me after about 10 minutes, knowing this you can imagine how pleased I was with the staying power that Sex Bomb has.

I’d describe the Sex Bomb’s scent as heady, it’s what I would call a young person’s floral fragrance which is me trying to say in a very nice way that it doesn’t leave you smelling like your nan’s prized handkerchief. I find its scent calming, sensual and soothing. The main ingredient I can detect with my nose is definitely the jasmine, which is another point that impressed me as I am not a fan of the products with too much ylang ylang. Jasmine has been used for centuries as a natural aphrodisiac which I guess is how this scent got its sexy name.

All in all, I feel the Lush Kitchen have captured the Sex Bomb scent in the solid perfume format perfectly, I hope that they decide to bring more products out with its scent soon as it’s not very often that I like floral scented products.
