Yuzu and Cocoa Liquid Perfume from Lush

Yuzu and Cocoa Liquid Perfume.pngThe Yuzu and Cocoa Scent is a Lush fragrance that I know I would adore in any format that Lush choose to make it into. Alongside the Comforter it was one of the first Lush scents that I fell in love with. When the Yuzu and Cocoa Liquid Perfume came up on the Lush Kitchen menu a month or so ago, I was of course ridiculously excited. On the rare occasion that the Kitchen do release a perfume, they sometimes do both a liquid and a solid version. In the most recent week that the Lush Kitchen had Yuzu and Cocoa perfume on their menu, it had both the liquid and the solid versions up for grabs. Yay!

I rarely buy the liquid perfumes, opting for the cheaper solid versions instead, however if it’s a scent that I know I love, I do treat myself and grab a liquid. The liquid perfumes are quite pricey but since trying them I now wouldn’t buy my perfume from anywhere else. The quality that Lush make their perfumes to makes every penny you pay for them worth it.

yuzu-cocoa-plusSharing its scent with both the shower cream and bubbleroon of the same name, shown in the photo above, the Yuzu and Cocoa liquid perfume is everything I imagined and more. One spray on the wrist leaves me smelling like jaffa cakes all day through. When I want the perfume to be a little stronger I also do one spritz on my clothes. Although I bitterly regret not buying the Yuzu and Cocoa solid perfume too, being able to spritz a bit of perfume on your clothes instead of just being able to rub it on your skin does give the liquid perfumes an advantage over the solids. Another thing I like to do with this perfume in particular is spray one spritz into my hair, my hair just carries the scent so well and everyone likes nice smelling hair!

I have only just started to include Lush perfume reviews on Lush Upon A Time as I know there isn’t too much you can say about a perfume, especially if you have reviewed something that shares the scent before. What people want to know is, one, does it smell good? and 2, does it last? The answer to both of those questions are yes. I would buy this perfume time and time again if given the opportunity. The Yuzu and Cocoa scent always leaves me wanting more, I will even admit to declaring that the shower cream smelt so good on my skin after using it, that it made me want to eat my own arm.

I have my fingers crossed that the UK Lush Kitchen follow in Lush Kitchen Japan’s footsteps as they have just released a batch of Yuzu and Cocoa body lotion. If I ever got my hands on a pot of that I’d be one very happy Lushie… Fingers crossed!

Pink Flamingo Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

img_4776To look at, the Pink Flamingo Reusable Bubble Bar is pretty much my dream product as I LOVE flamingos. My house is decorated heavily with them. Why? because they make me happy, what could be cooler than a big pink bird?!

The Pink Flamingo reusable bubble bar was first introduced to the public on Lush Oxford Street’s opening day back on the 24th of April 2015. When I very first see it splashed all over Instagram I couldn’t help but be beside myself with excitement about getting hold of one.

Most of Lush’s reusable bubble bars are on sticks. For me, this makes using them a lot easier as all I need to do is hold it by the stick while letting the bubble bar bit go under the running tap. (I’ve explained in almost every one of my bubble bar reviews previous to this, how the bubble bar works etc. I have also gone into detail on how I have to use a sieve for the ordinary bubble bars as I don’t have a dual-temperature tap). This reason alone gives the stick based reusable bubble bars an advantage (in my house anyway!)

I however often find that Lush’s reusable bubble bars when compared to Lush’s standard bubble bars such as Pop in the Bath aren’t as good when used. I find that the reusable bubble bars don’t produce as many bubbles and I also find that the water colour they create is never as bright or bold in comparison unless you use almost most of the product which means it isn’t a reusable product at all. In spite of this, I was still very eager to try the Pink Flamingo reusable bubble bar as Lush have proved me wrong on so many previous occasions.

Pink Flamingo is scented just how I had imagined. It has a very gentle citrus scent, one that reminds me of a fruity cocktail, what makes this bubble bars scent so unique from every other Lush product is its use of the bergamot and ylang ylang oils. Together they both give off a subtle fruity fragrance and appear to counteract each other somewhat. The scent although softened down by this clever mix of ingredients, is still very noticeable yet, not too in your face. It is the perfect summer scent that leaves you feeling uplifted and stress free.

At the start of this bubble bar review I predicted how the Pink Flamingo would perform in the bath. Unfortunately I was actually right for once, well.. Half right any way. The ordinary bubble bars run rings around the reusable ones performance wise. With Pink Flamingo I did however manage to get 2 more-than-adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one bar, it just took a little longer than I am used to.

Naturally with a reusable bubble bar I’d expect copious amounts of uses (so more than 2) but when you compare Pink Flamingo to the likes of the smaller bubble bars such as Yuzu and Cocoa or Granny Takes A Dip, it’s actually not that much different and is probably one of the better reusable bubble bars that Lush have released.

It takes a lot longer for the bubbles to emerge with this reusable bubble bar, though this is probably more of a reflection of my poor levels of patience than a reflection of the bubble bar itself. Even though the bubbles are slow to materialise the scent instantaneously fills my bathroom with a delicate citrus fragrance while at the same time it slowly turns the water underneath the thin-bubble-blanket a very bright, shade of pink.

Although I am a little disappointed that I could only get 2 baths out of the one Pink Flamingo it was a lot better than I had expected when comparing it to other reusable Lush products such as the Santasaurus. The only other thing that I feel is worth a mention is that the Pink Flamingo didn’t create particularly moisturising bath water for my skin to enjoy. Again I find this with all of the reusable bubble bars that I have tried so far so it wasn’t a very unexpected surprise.

With all of this in mind I have stored the Flamingo reusable bubble bar in the novelty-product-collection section of my brain. It was a lot better than I had expected off of a reusable product but hasn’t quite made it to my list of top 10 bubble bars. It is however a very beautifully designed product that never fails to catch people’s attention!

Uluru Shower Gel from Lush

img_3802

Described as the perfect way to ‘smother yourself in sunshine,’ the Uluru Shower Gel is quite literally Summer in a bottle. Inspired by the always beautiful Australian sunsets, I can never help but pick up a bottle of it whenever it comes up on the Lush Kitchen menu.

If you have read any of my other Lush reviews previous to this one, you’ll know that I tend to favour the Lush products that have a citrus twist, I am therefore unconditionally in love with the Uluru shower gel on its scent alone, it is a citrus fans dream shower gel.

The Uluru shower gel contains a variety of cheery and uplifting ingredients, sandalwood, lemon and Brazilian orange oil to name a few. Together they make a deliciously zesty shower gel that brightens your skin and your soul. I haven’t mentioned it in this post so far as I haven’t reviewed it yet but Lush also do an Uluru bath bomb.

img_3799

As you can see in the picture above, the Uluru shower gel is a bold, bright and beautiful orange colour. Its consistency is a lot like the Snow Fairy shower gel, not too thick and not too runny either. Some Lush shower gels are a little runnier due to all of their natural ingredients (essential oil etc), the Uluru shower gels consistency is however in my personal opinion, just right.

Lush products are all hand made and when put on the shelves are normally even fresher than most foods you find in the supermarket. All products wherever you shop have a shelf life. This is not an indication that your product goes off by this time though. Some products like Lush’s Prince Charming shower cream do start to separate after a few months, a good shake of the bottle however makes the cream (in Prince Charming’s case) go back to normal.

I have a bottle of Uluru shower gel that is well over a year old and it hasn’t separated at all. In comparison to the Prince Charming shower cream, this shower gel lasts. It looks, smells and works in the exact same way as when I very first got it which is always a bonus.

I find that the Uluru shower gel lathers up really quickly and with ease too, a little of it also goes a very long way. Even though this is the case I always over indulge with it as I can never get enough of the scent.

I wouldn’t say my skin was particularly moisturised after using it, I do however notice that my skin appears brighter and feels softer after use. Overall I am very pleased with the Uluru shower gel, it’s the perfect summer pick me up.

One day I would really like to see Lush bring out a body lotion equivalent so that I can moisturise myself with something of the same scent.
