Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel from Lush

The mad Christmas rush has officially frazzled my brain, today I have been sorting the mini mountain of Christmas cards. It was therefore no surprise when I accidently started this review with ‘Dear Berry Berry Christmas…’ *sigh*.

Back in September I decided to leave all of the reviews for the Lush products with ‘Christmas’ or ‘Santa’ in their name for December, I thought this was a great idea until I got to December and realised that a lot of the products I had left to review all share a scent. Please forgive me if my blog reviews are a bit repetitive over the next week or so!

The Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel is probably my favourite of the new shower gel/creams that are brand new to Lush this year (2017). There has been quite a few newbies but Berry Berry is the one that stands out the most to me. Consistency wise it reminds me of the Bubbly shower gel, thick yet silky smooth.

Decorated with a pinch of natural shimmer the Berry Berry shower gel is also super pretty to look at, I love when the sun catches it, it beams of Christmas magic. Its green colour and sparkly bits make me think of big, twinkling Christmas trees.

Containing cranberry, sweet wild orange and blueberry juice it’s not hard to see how Berry Berry got its name. If you have a fetish for berries, you need look no further…

Upon first sniff I thought that Berry Berry was very alike the Plum Rain shower gel, it however doesn’t share many ingredients with it at all, this left me very confused. Some people have agreed with me comparing it to Plum Rain whereas others have said it’s nothing alike. It’s so peculiar how the same scents can smell so different to others, I guess that is what makes Lush so moreish though!

Once you begin to lather the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel in your hands you are hit with a fragrance-wave of blueberry, it is at this point that you realise Berry Berry is a lot more crisp than the Plum Rain scent, a quick whiff wakes me up just as well as the avobath bath bomb does.

A little of the shower gel also goes a very long way which is always something I like in a Lush product. Since September I however have well and truly over indulged on Berry Berry, as has my husband. Just because a small amount of this shower gel goes a long way it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a little bit more than needed in the shower! I find its scent and how it feels on my skin so refreshing that I can never resist squeezing out an extra blop.

It was the first of the Christmas shower gels to have an empty bottle in our house. Therefore I feel safe in saying that I think the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel is BERRY, BERRY good!

Calacas Body Lotion from Lush

Calacas Body Lotion

When it comes to Lush I know I throw the love word around a lot, I just can’t help myself, especially when a product is Calacas scented… The Calacas scent has been released in a wide variety of product formats, my favourite so far being the, The Enchanter bath bomb. In my personal opinion the Calacas scent is the most refreshing, uplifting and zingy scent Lush have yet to create. Ever since I very first experienced the Calacas scent through the shower gel, I have been hooked and have since promised to try every Calacas scented product that I can get my hands on.

For the Calacas Body Lotion Lush have carefully combined oil of lime, neroli, cooling aloe vera and olibanum to make one of the most gorgeous, hydrating and energising body lotions I have ever used. If your skin is in need of a hydration boost you need look no further.

As soon as you pop open the lid of the Calacas body lotion you’re greeted with its sharp and zesty mood boosting scent. People often describe the Calacas scent as just like fruit pastilles, I agree to some extent I however believe its scent is so much better than just fruit pastilles.

A little amount of the Calacas body lotion goes a very long way. Once applied the scent stays on your skin for the best part of the day. It also leaves you with soft, smooth and gloriously hydrated skin. I am devastated that Lush didn’t decide to bring this body lotion out as a part of this years (2017) Halloween range, with the Lush Kitchen being in limbo at the moment I really don’t know if I’ll even be able to get hold of a pot of it ever again.

As said above, a very small amount of the Calacas body lotion does go a very long way, this means I at least have enough of it left to get me through the next 4 to 6 months (if used daily.) Overall I am a huge fan of the Calacas body lotion, it smells great, hydrates and soothes my skin perfectly and goes on to your skin, soaking in effortlessly. I really hope that Lush find a way to release this body lotion again as it really is such a good body lotion.

Snow Fairy Naked Shower Gel from Lush

Snow Fairy Naked Shower Gel

Last Winter I decided to step out of my comfort zone when it came to trying Lush products. There would strictly be no more avoiding a product based on my first impression of it, I was going to give each product a fair chance to impress me. I make it no secret that the super sweet products from Lush are normally my least favourite. Since introducing this new rule of mine it has really helped me broaden my Lush horizons. There are so many Lush scents and products I now love that I wouldn’t ever have considered trying before.

The Snow Fairy scent is one of Lush’s most popular winter fragrances, its scent has been used in so many products in so many formats that it’s not very easy to remember them all. I honestly wasn’t that sold on the scent at first, I have however warmed to it over the years. The fact that it is bright pink works in its favour too as pink is my favourite colour.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll have heard about Lush’s new naked products. Much like the Snow Fairy scent at first I wasn’t sold on the naked products. After trying the Twilight naked shower gel I however decided that they were actually quite a good idea. Especially for people such as myself that struggle with bottles and lids because of bad hands.

The Snow Fairy naked shower gel has pretty much the same ingredients as the original bottled up Snow Fairy shower gel, the only difference is the sodium stearate, this ingredient is what makes the product solid. All of the naked shower gels work in exactly the same way as their bottled equivalents. To look at I’d say it was soap, despite this the naked shower gels contain no soap base at all. You use a naked shower gel just as you would a normal shower gel. Instead of fiddling with a lid and then squidiging the product out of the bottle you now just have to lather the naked shower gel similar to how you would a bar of soap. (It however really isn’t a bar soap!)

The naked shower gels are squishy to the touch, solid enough to hold their bottle-shape but squishy enough to help give you an easy lather. The Snow Fairy naked shower gel is just as consistent as the normal shower gel is, I cannot tell the difference between the naked and normal shower gels once I am lathering it up, washing my body.

Overall I think the naked Snow Fairy shower gel is just as good as the bottled version. I actually find it more moisturising, although you can layer the Snow Fairy scent up onto your skin further by using some Snow Fairy body conditioner alongside it, I don’t feel it is necessary once you’ve used the Snow Fairy naked shower gel. Snow Fairy is not one of my favourites of the winter scents but the Snow Fairy naked shower gel has earnt itself a place up on my shower gel shelf, this way I have easy access to it and can use it whenever I please.
