Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

The Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar returns back to Lush’s shelves year in, year out. I can’t actually remember a Lush Winter line without it being a fixture. It is yet another Lush product that is Snow Fairy scented, this is exciting for most of the Lush community but for the people that don’t particularly like the Snow Fairy scent, I can really appreciate your frustration in regards to yet another Snow Fairy product. Apart from the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar Magic Wand was the only other reusable bubble bar that returned this year (2017).

Winter 2016 brought us more reusable bubble bars than we have ever seen before in just one line. There was the Magic Wand, The Magic of Christmas, Santasaurus and Jester reusable bubble bars too. If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’ll know that I’m normally not the biggest fan of the reusable bubble bars. I was therefore not surprised when only Magic Wand and the, The Magic of Christmas returned for 2017. I feel as though the majority of the reusable bubble bars are purely a novelty product more than than anything else. I also find that the majority of them just aren’t as colourful or vibrant in use as the ordinary bubble bars are.

Lush clearly put a lot of effort into making the reusable bubble bars look beautiful and desirable but in my personal opinion, Lush tend to relax a little with them in regards to how well they work as an actual bubble bar. The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar alongside the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar are however the exceptions to this and I know this is why they both return every Winter without a doubt. The Magic Wand creates just as many bubbles and the brightest of pink water giving the, The Comforter bubble bar (an ordinary bubble bar) a serious amount of competition.

For me the Magic Wand reusable bubble bar ticks every box of the things I look for in a bubble bar. It looks princess-beautiful, smells fantastic, creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, all while turning your bath water a sparkly and inviting shade of pink. Pink is my favourite colour so a Magic Wand bath is always a real treat for me.

The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar creates a generous amounts of sugar-sweet scented, fluffy white bubbles in no time at all. I can easily get 6 baths out of just the one bubble bar which makes it incredible value for money. To use it all you have to do is hold it under the tap as you run your bath. Once you have the desired amount of bubbles you simply place it on the side so that it can dry, ready for you to use it again whenever you wish.

Magic Wand’s decoration is very basic but so, so cute. I love seeing a big pile of them all stacked up together in store. The bubble bar part is the pink star, the pink star is held up with a wooden lollipop stick, this makes the process of making bath bubbles so much easier as you don’t need to get your hands wet at all. The Lollipop stick is then finished off with one bell and a beautiful silver ribbon made into the perfect bow.

Although the Snow Fairy scent isn’t my favourite Lush scent, the colour of the water the Magic Wand creates well makes up for it. I say Snow Fairy isn’t my favourite but this by all means doesn’t mean I hate it, I just prefer the spicier or citrus scented Lush scents. The Snow Fairy scent however grows on me that little bit more with every Lush Christmas that passes. When it comes down to bubble quantity, the Magic Wand holds its own, I always get a copious amount of bubbles that last throughout my soak. The only negative is that it doesn’t leave my skin as soft or hydrated as I’d like.

Last year Lush however solved this negative for me with the release of the Snow Fairy body conditioner. Now all I have to do during a Magic Wand bath is slap a bit of body conditioner on my legs, knees and elbows. This leaves me feeling as soft as silk and because both products share a scent I don’t have to mix Lush scents either, I just smell of Snow Fairy through and through!

Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel from Lush

The mad Christmas rush has officially frazzled my brain, today I have been sorting the mini mountain of Christmas cards. It was therefore no surprise when I accidently started this review with ‘Dear Berry Berry Christmas…’ *sigh*.

Back in September I decided to leave all of the reviews for the Lush products with ‘Christmas’ or ‘Santa’ in their name for December, I thought this was a great idea until I got to December and realised that a lot of the products I had left to review all share a scent. Please forgive me if my blog reviews are a bit repetitive over the next week or so!

The Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel is probably my favourite of the new shower gel/creams that are brand new to Lush this year (2017). There has been quite a few newbies but Berry Berry is the one that stands out the most to me. Consistency wise it reminds me of the Bubbly shower gel, thick yet silky smooth.

Decorated with a pinch of natural shimmer the Berry Berry shower gel is also super pretty to look at, I love when the sun catches it, it beams of Christmas magic. Its green colour and sparkly bits make me think of big, twinkling Christmas trees.

Containing cranberry, sweet wild orange and blueberry juice it’s not hard to see how Berry Berry got its name. If you have a fetish for berries, you need look no further…

Upon first sniff I thought that Berry Berry was very alike the Plum Rain shower gel, it however doesn’t share many ingredients with it at all, this left me very confused. Some people have agreed with me comparing it to Plum Rain whereas others have said it’s nothing alike. It’s so peculiar how the same scents can smell so different to others, I guess that is what makes Lush so moreish though!

Once you begin to lather the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel in your hands you are hit with a fragrance-wave of blueberry, it is at this point that you realise Berry Berry is a lot more crisp than the Plum Rain scent, a quick whiff wakes me up just as well as the avobath bath bomb does.

A little of the shower gel also goes a very long way which is always something I like in a Lush product. Since September I however have well and truly over indulged on Berry Berry, as has my husband. Just because a small amount of this shower gel goes a long way it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a little bit more than needed in the shower! I find its scent and how it feels on my skin so refreshing that I can never resist squeezing out an extra blop.

It was the first of the Christmas shower gels to have an empty bottle in our house. Therefore I feel safe in saying that I think the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel is BERRY, BERRY good!

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar from Lush

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar

Although the Christmas Eve Bubble Bar is a golden-oldie-Lush-product, I had never had the pleasure of trying it up until Lush made it a mainline bubble bar as a part their winter 2017 line. Much like the So White and Shoot for the Stars bath bomb, the Christmas Eve bubble bar has received a bit of a facelift since its original debut. Unfortunately I haven’t got a photograph of what it used to look like as, as I said earlier this bubble bar is a first for me! It is quite rare for an ‘old’ Lush product to be new to me so I was very excited when I first see a big pile of the Christmas Eve bubble bars…

The Christmas Eve bubble bar shares its scent with the Northern Lights bath bomb which happens to be one of my all time favourites as well as another product that received a facelift just last year, (2016). I was incredibly sad to see that the Northern Lights bath bomb hadn’t been included in the winter 2017 line, the inclusion of the Christmas Eve bubble bar has however made it a little easier to be without.

Being honest as always I was a little taken aback at the size of the Christmas Eve bubble bar. I think I have however been spoilt with the likes of The Comforter and Brightside bubble bars, both are huge and once you’ve had them that big it is only natural to be disappointed when presented with a product that is so much smaller. With it being only £1 less than the giant bubble bars too, I can see why some people have been put off of buying it.

Although the Christmas Eve bubble bar is small, it does pack some power. I can get 2 very generously bubbled baths out of just the one bubble bar. One half of the bubble bar creates a copious amounts of fluffy white bubbles, whilst also turning your bath water into the most beautiful, silky-soft, light shade of blue.

In my personal opinion the scent of the Christmas Eve bubble bar is not particularly strong, those that are new to its scent may however say that it is, this is because the Northern Lights scent really is out-of-this-world unique. After reading its ingredients list you’d be forgiven for guessing that the Christmas Eve bubble bar would smell very similar to the Sakura bath bomb. Although jasmine absolute is definitely in both Sakura and Christmas Eve, they really don’t have that much in common when it comes down to scent. I have heard many people refer to the Northern Lights scent as a lot like laundry detergent, I can see what they mean as its scent is so fresh and crisp.

As for its effect on your skin, I much prefer the bubble bar to the Northern Lights bath bomb. Its scent not only stays with you for the best part of the day but also leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. This is something that the bath bomb didn’t do for my skin so I was of course very happy to discover this. Overall I am very impressed with this bubble bar, the only thing that lets it down is its price, for its size I would expect it to be closer in price to the Lush bubbleroons. It however has the best, freshest and 100% ethically sourced ingredients so it will always be slightly high in price.
