Scrub Scrub Scrub Shower Scrub from Lush

Scrub Scrub Scrub is Lush’s most recent potted-shower-scrub release. It was only a few weeks ago that I was talking about the growing popularity of black Lush products in my The World’s Smallest Disco review. The Scrub Scrub Scrub Shower Scrub is yet another, brand new black product.

I have found that when it comes down to the black products, the people within the Lush community either get really excited about trying them or they freak out asking why anyone would use such a product in the bath or shower (a place you get in to get clean.)

At first I too felt a little alarmed at the idea of bathing in Bewitched‘s or Secret Arts’ black waters but I tried them and I had nothing but a positive experience with both. – Clean up included! It was therefore a no brainer to give Scrub Scrub Scrub a go and I am so pleased that I did.

This scrubs consistency is very similar to the likes of the Magic Crystals shower scrub. Its ingredients include charcoal, blackberry, lime, blackcurrant and plenty of fine sea salt making it the perfect go-to product for an all over exfoliation.

It doesn’t share a scent with another Lush product but it does remind me of the, The Comforter bubble bar a little. It’s got the same blackcurrant twang but its scent is more coarse, it gives off very autumnal vibes.

It actually reminds me of Autumn because it smells just like the fruit pies my nan used to make after having us all out picking hundreds upon hundreds of berries. scrubscrubscrubWM

I am always honest in my reviews and I admit that a small part of me still feels a small amount of panic whenever I first take off Scrub Scrub Scrubs lid. I think it’s a psychological thing. It’s just such a bizarre coloured product to put all over your body when the main goal for your shower/bath is to clean yourself.

I have however not had any bad experiences with Scrub Scrub Scrub. NONE. People expect to come out of the shower looking like a chimney sweep but that’s not the case at all.

Yes, it can get a little messy during use but it rinses off just fine and without having to use another product such as a shower gel. Shower walls included! As I said earlier, it’s a psychological thing, once you get past its colour you start to realise how good of a product it actually is. It hydrates your skin, absorbs all of your pores impurities while also buffing away all of your dead, dry skin.

To use all you have to do is scoop out a small amount from the pot and work it into your skin just like you would a shower gel. A little amount does go a long way but please feel free to over indulge. With any exfoliator I recommend that you pay particular attention to any dry patches you may have such as knees and elbows.

Scrub Scrub Scrub leaves your skin softer in appearance as well as to touch. Its fruity fragrance remains on your skin long after using it too.

Apart from its repetitive name (I’ve read and written the word ‘scrub’ so many times now that my brain is starting to question if it’s even a real word!) I actually really like this product. I am so glad that I didn’t let its colour deter me. Scrub Scrub Scrub is a fantastic addition to the potted shower scrubs. Lush – thank you for yet another beautiful product!

Ghost in the Dark Soap from Lush

Ghost in the Dark Soap

When I found out that Lush were bringing out a Halloween soap that not only glows in the dark (see below photo) but also shares its scent with the Avobath bath bomb, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

When the Ghost in the Dark Soap arrived on my doorstep I was pleasantly surprised at how big it was, it fits more than snuggly in my hand. I was also very pleased with how much it mirrored the aforementioned bath bombs scent, Avobath. With my eyes closed I’m not sure I could tell them apart in a sniff test!

As Lush products go, I know the soaps aren’t always the most interesting items that Lush have to offer. With the Ghost in the Dark soap having the ability to glow in the dark, a whole new level of fun has come to a no-longer-simple bar of soap. The first question everyone asks when they realise that this bar of soap actually really does glow in the dark is, ‘HOW?!!’

The magic ingredient is called luminescent zinc sulfide. I was going to do a whole paragraph on it but then I remembered who I was and how bad I was at Chemistry at school, I have therefore linked up to Lush’s website (here) as I think it would be better all round to let the experts explain the science behind it.

Rich with mood and energy boosting ingredients such as lemongrass and bergamot oils, a quick wash with a bar of Ghost in the Dark will banish away any early morning fatigue you may be feeling; Sharpening your senses and leaving you alert and ready to face the day.

Although I have only used this soap on my hands so far, (I don’t normally use bars of soap anywhere else as my skin is notoriously fussy) it does lather very quickly and it’s really hydrating too, something I never expect from a bar of soap as they normally dry my skin out.

Overall I think the Ghost in the Dark soap is a fantastic addition to Lush’s Halloween line. It has certainly helped me get through the darker Winter mornings, I have also used it several times now and although it has shrunk a tiny bit, I can see it’s going to last for quite some time making it excellent value for money.

The fact it glows in the dark adds a novelty factor to it too, I imagine this has helped it sell as it’s quite the unique selling point!

I have very much enjoyed exploring the Avobath scent in the soap format. I have my fingers crossed that Lush use this scent again very soon as it really is a life saver in the mornings when you’re feeling groggy.

Goddess Bath Bomb from Lush

Allow me to introduce you to the unique and captivatingly beautiful Goddess Bath Bomb. Inspired by the singer, songwriter and actress Ariana Grande, Goddess has been one of the most sought after Lush products of 2018.

Originally Goddess was only available to buy at the September 2018 Lush Showcase BUT as of a few days ago, it is at the time of writing this review now available to purchase from the London based, Lush Oxford Street store and also through Lush’s UK website.

There hasn’t been hype behind a bath bomb quite like this since the release of 2016’s limited edition Roller bath bomb. When it comes down to the Goddess bath bombs shape, unique is the first word that comes to mind. There has never been a bath bomb of its shape before. I don’t even know where to begin when describing its shape.

Goddess is a round bath bomb, one side of it has a slight flat edge allowing it to sit as it is in the photo below. On its other side is a huge, round crater. I am not quite sure why Goddess is made in this strange shape, I do however get out-of-space vibes from it which I guess ties in with its Goddess name.

Goddess’s ingredients include jasmine, sandalwood, rose and oudh oil. Even with its long and varied list of ingredients the Goddess bath bombs scent is one of Lush’s most gentle fragrances yet. Although very subtle, Goddess’s scent is primarily floral; The sandalwood and oudh add a sweet yet woody layer to the jasmine giving its scent a warm and comforting edge.

The Goddess bath bomb is a very quick fizzer, so quick that I didn’t manage to capture any of its bath art on my camera. There were gushes of purple, silver and plenty of fizzing bubbles. Its scent once in the water still remained subtle, if you’d like to get more out of it fragrance-wise I’d suggest using it in shallow bath water.

Once Goddess has completely dissolved you are left with sparkling, silky-soft, milky-purple bath water. For those that really enjoy its scent you may be a little disappointed as the scent seems to fade fairly soon after it has dissolved, it didn’t last the bath for me. With me not being a huge fan of the floral scents this however was not a negative finding for me.

Its magical bath-water left my skin feeling exceptionally hydrated, so much so that I didn’t have to use a body lotion once out of the tub. Visually the Goddess bath bomb is a stunning work of art. The only thing that bugs me in regards to it is its steep price. I don’t like to go into price with my reviews but for almost £6 a bath bomb I believe it should be something I mention. It’s certainly a luxury product with a luxury price. I’d recommend trying it even if its just the once as it does make for a very relaxing bath.
