Christmas Cracker Bubble Bar from Lush

Christmas Cracker Bubble Bar

The Christmas Cracker Bubble Bar is probably the bubble bar I was the most excited about from Lush’s 2017 Christmas line. At the showcase this year, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to make one of these. Prior to this I had never made any Lush products myself so it was a dream come true. Before the bubble mix is left to set it feels just like kinetic sand.

I loved every step of making this bubble bar, working the bubble bar mix in my hands was so relaxing, pressing it into its mold making sure the pink doesn’t go over the line and of course adding the popping candy. It really was a fantastic experience, if I worked in the Lush factory I’d want to be in the bubble bar team for sure!

Christmas Cracker’s scent is almost identical, if not the same to this year’s other popular new release the Cheer Up Buttercup bath bomb, I make it no secret that I love the citrusy products the most, I was therefore super happy to learn that the Christmas Cracker had the same zingy and energy boosting ingredients that Cheer Up Buttercup has, lemon, lime and neroli oil.

Pairing it with a fruity product such as the Blackberry bath bomb would make for an excellent Lush-bath-cocktail.

You can get 3 very generously bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Christmas Cracker, I suspect it could be stretched over more than 3 baths if you wanted it to, I haven’t tried anymore than 3 uses though as I’m spoilt and always over indulge. The mix of the pink and yellow creates the most beautiful and bright orange bath water and of course lots of fluffy white bubbles! sitting back in a Christmas Cracker bubble bath leaves you feeling elated and refreshed.

As I mentioned above, the Christmas Cracker bubble bar has popping candy hidden in the inside of it. When I very first used this bubble bar I had completely forgotten about the popping candy within it. There is quite a delayed reaction to the popping candy and the water. I was sat back, submerged by the cheery bubbles for a good few minutes before the popping candy surprised me with its unignorable presence.

As always popping candy makes for a very entertaining bath, once it starts to react with the water it crackles away for a good 5 or so minutes. I have paired Christmas Cracker with the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb which is also jam packed with popping candy, it’s like having your own mini firework display in the bath tub.

What really stood out for me with the Christmas Cracker bubble bar was how hydrated it left my skin, the scent also stayed with me for the best part of the day after using it too. I will definitely be stocking up on this bubble bar before Winter is through. Lush have made some amazing additions to their bubble bar family this year, it’s made me very excited for whatever they have planned for us next!

Sugar Plum Fairy Naked Lip Scrub from Lush

Sugar Plum Fairy Naked Lip Scrub

One of the very first products that I ever got from Lush was a pot of their Bubblegum lip scrub, from the very first use I was hooked. When it comes down to lip exfoliation you can’t go wrong with Lush. Up until this years winter line came out, Lush’s lip scrubs had only ever been sold in a glass 25g pot. Now, they also come in a ‘naked’ form.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs (potted or naked) is caster sugar. When I tried my very first Lush lip scrub, I was blown away at the fact that a product with such a basic ingredients list worked so much better than any other lip exfoliator that I had tried before. Caster sugar is the perfect ingredient for gentle yet effective exfoliation.

Making a naked and solid version of their much loved potted lip scrubs is in my eyes the best idea Lush have ever had. The potted lip scrubs work like a dream but since trying the naked versions I doubt i’ll be buying the potted versions ever again. Lush have managed to improve what I already deemed a perfect product.

SPFNLS2

I honestly raved about the potted lip scrubs to anyone who would listen. The naked version however blows the potted version right out of the water. I don’t think I’ve ever been this impressed with a Lush product shake-up. Smelling almost identical to the, The Comforter bubble bar and shower cream the Sugar Plum Fairy Naked Lip Scrub has a beautiful and rich berry scent, living up to its scent families name, it truly does have a warm and comforting fragrance.

The difference between the naked and potted lip scrubs apart from the obvious is that the naked lip scrubs are solid. When I have been asked to describe the new naked lip scrubs texture I always compare it to a very moisturising sugar cube. I know that isn’t technically a thing but it’s the only way I can think of describing it. It is solid and scrubby just like a sugar cube, it however is strangely moisturising too.

The solid lip scrubs are nothing like their potted equivalent, they do not crumble at all. I always make a right mess when using the potted versions, often accidentally wasting some of the product as it falls before making it to my lips. With the naked lip scrubs there is no mess or product waste at all.

My favourite thing about the naked lip scrubs is that they are solid, because of this you can apply so much more pressure on to your lips during application, it makes buffing away the dry bits of skin so much easier than it was before. If you have long nails like me then you’ll be pleased to know that there is also no more trouble fishing the product out of the pot.

To use, all you have to do is rub it onto your lips in a similar way you would put lipstick on. Once you feel satisfied with the coverage, you then just wipe the sugar away to reveal smooth and lovely looking lips. Some wipe it off while others lick, both options are perfectly safe.

Just like the Black Rose naked lip scrub the Sugar Plum Fairy naked lip scrub is incredibly hydrating for your lips, I wasn’t expecting this at all as the potted versions aren’t anything as moisturising as these. I am over the moon with all of the new naked lip scrubs, I hope Lush bring out more of them soon as I want them all. I don’t think I have ever been more satisfied in a product before. Lush’s perfection par just got a whole lot higher!

Calacas Body Lotion from Lush

Calacas Body Lotion

When it comes to Lush I know I throw the love word around a lot, I just can’t help myself, especially when a product is Calacas scented… The Calacas scent has been released in a wide variety of product formats, my favourite so far being the, The Enchanter bath bomb. In my personal opinion the Calacas scent is the most refreshing, uplifting and zingy scent Lush have yet to create. Ever since I very first experienced the Calacas scent through the shower gel, I have been hooked and have since promised to try every Calacas scented product that I can get my hands on.

For the Calacas Body Lotion Lush have carefully combined oil of lime, neroli, cooling aloe vera and olibanum to make one of the most gorgeous, hydrating and energising body lotions I have ever used. If your skin is in need of a hydration boost you need look no further.

As soon as you pop open the lid of the Calacas body lotion you’re greeted with its sharp and zesty mood boosting scent. People often describe the Calacas scent as just like fruit pastilles, I agree to some extent I however believe its scent is so much better than just fruit pastilles.

A little amount of the Calacas body lotion goes a very long way. Once applied the scent stays on your skin for the best part of the day. It also leaves you with soft, smooth and gloriously hydrated skin. I am devastated that Lush didn’t decide to bring this body lotion out as a part of this years (2017) Halloween range, with the Lush Kitchen being in limbo at the moment I really don’t know if I’ll even be able to get hold of a pot of it ever again.

As said above, a very small amount of the Calacas body lotion does go a very long way, this means I at least have enough of it left to get me through the next 4 to 6 months (if used daily.) Overall I am a huge fan of the Calacas body lotion, it smells great, hydrates and soothes my skin perfectly and goes on to your skin, soaking in effortlessly. I really hope that Lush find a way to release this body lotion again as it really is such a good body lotion.
