Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel from Lush

The mad Christmas rush has officially frazzled my brain, today I have been sorting the mini mountain of Christmas cards. It was therefore no surprise when I accidently started this review with ‘Dear Berry Berry Christmas…’ *sigh*.

Back in September I decided to leave all of the reviews for the Lush products with ‘Christmas’ or ‘Santa’ in their name for December, I thought this was a great idea until I got to December and realised that a lot of the products I had left to review all share a scent. Please forgive me if my blog reviews are a bit repetitive over the next week or so!

The Berry Berry Christmas Shower Gel is probably my favourite of the new shower gel/creams that are brand new to Lush this year (2017). There has been quite a few newbies but Berry Berry is the one that stands out the most to me. Consistency wise it reminds me of the Bubbly shower gel, thick yet silky smooth.

Decorated with a pinch of natural shimmer the Berry Berry shower gel is also super pretty to look at, I love when the sun catches it, it beams of Christmas magic. Its green colour and sparkly bits make me think of big, twinkling Christmas trees.

Containing cranberry, sweet wild orange and blueberry juice it’s not hard to see how Berry Berry got its name. If you have a fetish for berries, you need look no further…

Upon first sniff I thought that Berry Berry was very alike the Plum Rain shower gel, it however doesn’t share many ingredients with it at all, this left me very confused. Some people have agreed with me comparing it to Plum Rain whereas others have said it’s nothing alike. It’s so peculiar how the same scents can smell so different to others, I guess that is what makes Lush so moreish though!

Once you begin to lather the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel in your hands you are hit with a fragrance-wave of blueberry, it is at this point that you realise Berry Berry is a lot more crisp than the Plum Rain scent, a quick whiff wakes me up just as well as the avobath bath bomb does.

A little of the shower gel also goes a very long way which is always something I like in a Lush product. Since September I however have well and truly over indulged on Berry Berry, as has my husband. Just because a small amount of this shower gel goes a long way it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to a little bit more than needed in the shower! I find its scent and how it feels on my skin so refreshing that I can never resist squeezing out an extra blop.

It was the first of the Christmas shower gels to have an empty bottle in our house. Therefore I feel safe in saying that I think the Berry Berry Christmas shower gel is BERRY, BERRY good!

Orangutan Soap from Lush

Orangutan Soap

Whether you are or aren’t a fan of Lush, the one thing you can’t fault them for is the amount of charity work that they do. It’s so refreshing to see a company that doesn’t solely obsess over making profit just for themselves. Lush’s most recent charity-product is the Orangutan Soap. All proceeds (minus VAT) made on the sales of these soaps are going towards the Sumatran Orangutan Society. Their aim is to buy 50 hectares of old Indonesian palm plantation so that they can restore the land back into native forest. This will give the Orangutans a much needed extension on their dwindling home and habitat.

Currently there are only 14,600 wild orangutans left in Sumatra, the decline in forest space is slowly but surely working towards making the orangutan in Sumatra extinct. To help raise the money for this product Lush have made 14,600 orangutan shaped soaps to sell, this means that each soap made represents one of the remaining Sumatran orangutans. This  really hit home for me, it made me realise just how close we are getting to losing the Sumatran Orangutans forever.

The first thing I noticed about the Orangutan soap was its intricate design. It truly is a work of art, the attention Lush have given just on its detail alone is more than impressive. It resembles an orangutan so accurately, it even has delicate lines all over it to represent the orangutans fur. Lush have almost made the orangutan shaped soap too pretty to use, I bitterly regret not ordering 2 for myself now. One to use and one to leave on display.

The Orangutan soap contains patchouli and orange oil giving it a musky and smoky scent with a layer of orange sweetness. In some ways it reminds me of the Supertramp and Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds bubble bar. The patchouli is definitely the most dominant ingredient within it, there is however just enough orange and coconut oil in it to soften the strength of the patchouli slightly.

When using the Orangutan soap I was surprised at how quickly it created a workable lather. Although the soap has quite a strong scent, after using it its scent doesn’t remain on your skin for very long. It is however more moisturising on your skin than I had expected, the addition of coconut oil has made a real difference to how the soap feels on the skin. I wouldn’t say the soaps scent was a favourite of mine but it isn’t at all unpleasant, I can imagine it working very well with the Lord of Misrule bath bomb. That isn’t a cocktail I could try myself though as that bath bomb triggers my migraines. If anyone does try the two together, I’d really love to hear your thoughts on the pairing.

Overall I really do like this soap, the scent doesn’t blow me away but it’s perfectly sculptured design does. A lot of time and effort was clearly put into the making of this product, I hope that the Sumatran Orangutan Society benefits from the sale of this soap even more than they had hoped.

So White Body Spray from Lush

So White Body SprayAt the time of writing this review the So White Body Spray is currently an exclusive Lush product that can only be purchased through the Lush Kitchen online. If you have been thinking of getting a bottle I suggest placing your order sooner rather than later, they have proven very popular and even though the Lush Kitchen are making much bigger batches now, I can’t see them being around for very much longer. The So White body spray shares its scent with Santa’s Belly shower jelly, Once Upon A Time body lotion and of course the So White bath bomb and shower gel.

This deliciously-crisp, apple scented body spray is the perfect product to spritz yourself with to leave you feeling instantly refreshed, its scent is uplifting and gives you the boost of all boosts to help start your day with a clear state of mind. I can never resist its scent, there’s just something about it that makes me think of a far away, fairytale kingdom. Smelling just like a princess has never been so easy!

To use all you have to do is squirt the So White body spray over your body or clothes. Just 1 or 2 squirts is all you need, I’m amazed that such a small amount leaves you smelling absolutely gorgeous all day long. Now that I own a few, I can understand why so many people favour the body sprays over the perfumes. They have the same level of strength (scent-wise) and you get so much more for your money with them too.

As I said above, only one or two spritz of the So White body spray is needed to get the most out of it and its scent really does stay with you for the whole day. Upon the very first spritz I immediately ordered another bottle of it, it was still available and I thought, why not? I never, ever want to be without this beautiful, fairytale-dream-scented body spray. I am gutted that it was released after my wedding as it would have been the perfect scent for our special day. Not that my wedding wasn’t amazing but smelling just like a princess would have made the day glisten instead of just shine!

I honestly don’t know why Lush didn’t create more body sprays long before now as they really are such wonderful products. They are so cost effective and last for so much longer than any other Lush product ever has before. In my review of the Twilight body spray I said that it was the best body spray I had ever tried, well… Move over Twilight, So White is in the house.

I am so pleased that the Lush Kitchen expanded upon the line of products with the So White scent, I have been a huge fan of the scent family ever since using my very first So White scented Lush product, the original So White bath bomb. Apple scents aren’t a common ingredient in Lush products, the only other product with a hint of apple in that springs to mind right now is the Fizzbanger bath bomb. Fizzbanger smells just like hot, apple pie, it’s yet another Lush-applesque-scent that I adore, Fruity apple scents must be in demand though as Lush also do a Fizzbanger scented body spray called the Love body spray… Here’s hoping even more So White scented products get invented. I have my eyes peeled for that So White solid perfume that the Lush Kitchen promised us!
