Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime from Lush

With a name like ‘shower slime’, the product is to-say-the-least quite a conversation starter. I have heard mixed reviews on the concept of shower slime product format BUT, I have yet to hear a single negative review from anyone who has actually given a shower slime a go.

Today I will be reviewing the Sparkly Pumpkin Shower Slime. The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime first made an appearance in Lush’s 2022 Halloween line and is set to make a return for Halloween 2023. It shares its scent with another much-loved Halloween product the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar.

The only annoying aspect of shower slimes (from a practical point of view) is that they are potted. With me being disabled most of the time it’s just easier to reach for a bottled shower gel as they are easier to get out when you and your hands all wet!

The Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime contains grapefruit oil, Juniper berry oil, lime oil, fresh grapefruit juice, fresh orange juice and plenty of corn starch. This unique blend of essential oils makes the Sparkly Pumpkins scent a woody and gentle citrus blend, I find myself feeling really uplifted after using it as well as my skin feeling soft, clean, and refreshed.

If you favour Lush products with a more subtle scent, then Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime would be a great choice for you.

Shower slimes work in the same way as a shower gel, they are very slime-like BUT great at leaving your skin clean and refreshed. A small amount of the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime goes a very long way making it great value for money. Shower slimes have a lot of corn starch in them which is what gives them that slightly thicker, tacky, milky-dough-like-consistency.

With just a little bit of water the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime easily lathers up into something that better resembles as a shower gel. The shower slime is not at all sticky and as stated above just feels like a tacky, slightly thicker shower gel.

Out of all of the shower slimes Lush have released before this, none of them have been quite as inviting as the bright orange Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime. You’ll find yourself using more than is necessary just because of its gorgeous bright colour.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime, I’d go as far as to say it is my favourite shower slime that Lush have released so far. I am glad to see that it is making a return for this year’s Halloween line (2023).

Supernova Bath Bomb from Lush

Another day, another retro Lush product review… Today I will be reviewing the Supernova Bath Bomb. It was most recently available as one of the exclusive items in the May 2023 Lush Kitchen subscription box.

During the old format of the Lush Kitchen’s 3 year reign, the Supernova bath bomb made regular appearances. I’ve been waiting ever since the Lush Kitchen subscription boxes started for it to appear and finally in box 36, it did!

The Supernova bath bomb is bright pink and laced with paper confetti. The confetti makes it similar in design to the Dragon’s Egg bath bomb, although, Supernova has a lot more confetti in and the confetti in it is paper, Dragon’s Eggs confetti is more of a jelly in the water.

Supernova shares its scent with all of the products in the Celebrate scent family. Most recent product releases that share its scent include the Celebrate foaming body scrubTea Party bath bomb and the NEW Golden Pudding bath bomb.

Alongside copious amounts of paper confetti the Supernova bath bomb also contains, sweet wild orange oil, lime oil and wine lees oil. Older versions of it (which I think smelt boozier) contained plenty of cognac oil instead of wine lees.

Lush fragrances are often hard to describe but the Celebrate scent family smells just like its name. A real celebration. The Supernova bath bombs scent is warm and bubbly. The sweet wild orange and lime oils come together giving off a champagne like scent, hence the word ‘celebrate’.

As soon as the Supernova bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water there is an explosion of bright pink foam. As the Supernova bath bomb bobs around the bright pink foam starts to pale and little pieces of confetti begin to burst out of it, spreading out upon the surface of the water.

The Supernova bath bomb is quite a messy bath bomb because of the confetti but it’s not hard to clean away as it dissolves just like the bath bomb, a quick blast of water and it’s like it was never there.

It takes a good 10 minutes for the Supernova bath bomb to fully dissolve. The water left behind is a clear but very bright pink.

I find the hotter the water the quicker and easier it is for the confetti to disappear; I’ve said it’s a little messy in this review but as long as you use it in a clean bath it really isn’t something that should put you off of at least trying it once.

The orange and lime rich scent lasts right up until the last drop of water goes down the plug hole. It does leave my skin a little dryer than I’d like but the scent remains on your skin for several hours after exiting the bath.

If you’re lucky enough to own some Celebrate body lotion and Celebrate body spray, I totally recommended using them both after a Supernova bath. There’s nothing quite like layering up the same Lush scents from different products!

Overall, I do really like the Supernova bath bomb, it’s a fun take on a bath bomb equivalent of a celebration. It’s not my favourite Celebrate scented bath bomb but one I enjoy, nonetheless.

Princess Peach Body Spray from Lush

At the time of writing this review, Lush’s most recent collaboration with the, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is by far Lush’s most popular collaborations to date. Today I’m going to be reviewing another of my favourite products from the collection, the Princess Peach Body Spray.

The Mario and Luigi shower gels that are also a part of this collection are both remakes of older Lush shower gels, unlike Princess Peach which is a brand-new Lush scent!

I do love when older Lush scents come back to life in new products, BUT brand-new scents are always exciting too. The Princess Peach body spray is described on Lush’s website as a ‘fruity burst of peach and pineapple’.

Ingredients wise, the Princess Peach body spray contains organic sweet orange oil, buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil, olibanum resinoid and champaca absolute. This carefully selected group of ingredients create such an uplifting fragrance that is fit for a princess. If you’ve ever wondered what Princess Peach smells like, the Princess Peach body spray is the answer!

If you are familiar with Lush’s Peachy bath bomb, Princess Peach is quite similar to that but with a tropical twist. The longer you sniff it, the more complex the fragrance gets. At first, I can smell a cocktail of peach and pineapple then after a few more seconds there’s a muskiness to the scent, it reminds me of the little mushroom sweets I used to eat as a kid.

With mushrooms being such an intricate part of the Super Mario Bros. world I can’t help but think this may have been deliberate.

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but as soon as I see the pink label on this body spray with Princess Peach on it, my inner princess couldn’t help but squeal a little. Lush were wise to use these types of visuals on their packaging for this particular line. I know Lush are trying hard to use less and less packaging but sadly I think this line has had so much success due to its packaging.

The packaging with all of the characters on them is a huge reason that customers were tempted into Lush stores. I feel that how great the products actually are, is secondary to the Mario Bros. packaging.

The packaging of this body spray was brilliant at tempting new customers in but how amazing the body spray smells is what has made new Lush customers, forever-Lush-customers. Old customers like me, seem to have really loved the Mario Bros. line too so it’s a win, win!

I am very interested to see how well future collaborations go if the products aren’t so obviously a collab, like the Princess Peach body spray is.

Just a few spritz of the Princess Peach body spray either on your body or clothes is all you need for it to last on you all day. Its delicate fruity scent is delightful and a good choice if you dislike the heavier Lush scents. Overall, I adore this body spray and hope it’s not the last we see of the scent. I will be reviewing its shower jelly equivalent in the next few days so keep checking back!
