Mum in a Spin Bubble Spinner from Lush

Mum In A Spin Bubble Spinner

The Mum in a Spin Bubble Spinner is yet another brand new release from Lush’s Mother’s Day line. Packed with a long list of relaxing ingredients including both lavender and tonka absolute, it’s a must try product for all, not just mum’s. When Lush first released the bubble bar equivalent of a fidget spinner I honestly had no idea what a fidget spinner was.

I have since learnt that a fidget spinner is a small toy comprising of two or three prongs arranged around a central bearing. They are designed to be spun by the fingers as a means of improving concentration and a reliever of stress.

Although the bubble bar equivalents of a fidget spinner do not work in quite the same way, (the water from the tap is what essentially makes the bubble spinner spin) I can see why they are so popular. Getting in on the fidget spinner craze is a very clever move on Lush’s part, their original creation of a Bubble Spinner sold very well which is why we have now been presented with a brand new bubble spinner product, the Mum in a Spin.

Mum in a Spin is a reusable bubble bar, much like the first bubble spinner that Lush created it has a wooden pin in its middle. This allows the bubble bar part of it to spin as the tap water hits it just like a water mill. It has 3 spokes, two of them are decorated with the letter ‘M’ and the third with a love heart spelling out Mum/Mom.

Reusable bubble bars are slightly different to the normal bubble bars, you don’t have to break a reusable bubble bar up to use it, you simply run it under the tap to create bubbles. Once you have the desired amount of bubbles you then put it somewhere it can dry off, ready for the next time you want to use it.

As Mum in a Spin is submerged under running tap water, its scent fills the room. It shares its scent with the much loved Twilight bath bomb, making it the perfect night-time-bath treat. As the bubble bar is run under the tap copious amounts of bubbles begin to form, the water also becomes a stunningly bright pink. Overflowing with ingredients that have been carefully put together to help you wind down, it didn’t take very long for me to feel the stresses of the day melting away as I let myself lay back underneath the blanket of fluffy white, Twilight scented bubbles.

Sometimes I find that the reusable bubble bars don’t create quite as many bubbles as the ordinary bubble bars do, I found that with Mum in a spin this wasn’t the case at all. You can get 3 very generously bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Mum in a Spin. Another trait that reusable bubble bars tend to have is that they don’t create as vividly colourful water as their ordinary counterparts, this wasn’t the case for Mum in a Spin either, I was very happy to be bathing in such a beautiful and bold shade of pink water.

Another thing that impressed me about the Mum in a Spin bubble spinner was that its scent lasted throughout the whole bath, it also lasted on my skin once I was out of the bath too. There is nothing better than stepping out of a Mum in a Spin bubble bath followed by slathering yourself up with Sleepy body lotion.

I know some people are eager for Lush to start creating new scents as they’re growing bored of the same scents coming back time and time again. There is however something quite special about revisiting much loved scents through a different product format, I don’t think I could ever get bored of the Twilight scent. Overall I am very impressed with the Mum in a Spin bubble spinner, it ticks every box for what I like in a bubble bar. I will therefore be stocking up on them before 2018’s Mother’s Day period is through.

Kiss Me Quick Wash Card from Lush

Kiss Me Quick Wash CardThe Kiss Me Quick Wash Card is a brand new product that is a part of the Lush 2018 Valentine’s range. If you remember last years line up, you’ll probably be familiar with the ‘Kiss Me Quick’ name. This Kiss Me Quick wash card is however not to be confused with last years Kiss Me Quick business wash card.

There are several of these ‘soap paper’ products available from Lush right now, you can find them in a variety of different colours and scents. That being said, the wash cards are relatively unexplored by myself. This is where I admit that I am fairly new to this type of product, I think this particular wash card is my 4th or 5th one to try? Even though I have got on really well with all of the ones I have tried previous to this, I still can’t shake away the thought that the wash cards are more of a novelty product than anything else.

Novelty product or not, the idea behind Lush’s wash cards is really clever. With it being a paper-like consistency, it weighs less than a shower gel and of course, it is ‘naked’. This in the world of Lush means a packageless product but I’m pretty sure if you are reading this, that you knew that already. Whether you think that the wash cards are a novelty or not they can prove to be a useful product when it comes down to travelling. They’re small, light and where they are not liquid, they can be taken on to planes etc.

The Kiss Me Quick wash card is roughly about the size of my hand making it a lot bigger than the Kiss me Quick business and Butterbear cards. To use the Kiss Me Quick wash card all you need to do is rip a tiny bit off of it, followed by you then getting it wet and then beginning to work it in your hands the same way as you would a soap. This creates a decent lather almost instantly, leaving it ready to use just like a liquid shower gel or hand wash.

This years Kiss Me Quick wash card has a brand new Lush scent that hasn’t featured in any other product before. When I very first opened the box full of the Valentine’s goodies it was by far the strongest scented product in the collection. Even when it was the other side of the room I could still smell it.

I always struggle to describe scents but the first word that springs to my mind to describe the Kiss Me Quick wash card is sweet. It is such an intense sweet too, it makes the likes of the Snow Fairy shower gel appear subtle.

Ingredients wise the Kiss Me Quick wash card includes mimosa, clove bud oil and tonka absolute, the clove bud oil adds a light spicy layer to the sweetness of the tonka. During use the scent does become more subtle which is its saving grace for me. If its scent was just as strong or even stronger during use I know I wouldn’t like it, its scent fresh out of the box really is an intense one to say the least.

After use my skin feels super smooth and remarkably hydrated which I did not expect from a wash card at all. The scent lingers on your skin for a few hours after using but at a much more friendlier level (for my nose anyway). Although the wash cards won’t ever replace my shower gels or creams they are worth having a few around just in case. For example I always have one in my purse because you never know when you may need some soap to wash your hands etc. Obviously the whole of the Kiss Me Quick wash card doesn’t all fit into my purse but split in half, it’s perfect and keeps my purse smelling crazy-fresh.

I thought of doing something a little bit different for this review, the Kiss Me Quick wash cards have become the number 1 selfie-prop of the Valentine’s season. I wanted to share a few of them with you all so this explains the photos below. I’m still waiting on a few more people to send theirs over to me (I will add them to this post when they do) but for now, here are some of the ones that I have received. A big thank you to all that took part, I have linked all of their Instagram accounts at the end of this post, please go give all of them a follow!

Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

img_8591

The Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar returns back to Lush’s shelves year in, year out. I can’t actually remember a Lush Winter line without it being a fixture. It is yet another Lush product that is Snow Fairy scented, this is exciting for most of the Lush community but for the people that don’t particularly like the Snow Fairy scent, I can really appreciate your frustration in regards to yet another Snow Fairy product. Apart from the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar Magic Wand was the only other reusable bubble bar that returned this year (2017).

Winter 2016 brought us more reusable bubble bars than we have ever seen before in just one line. There was the Magic Wand, The Magic of Christmas, Santasaurus and Jester reusable bubble bars too. If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’ll know that I’m normally not the biggest fan of the reusable bubble bars. I was therefore not surprised when only Magic Wand and the, The Magic of Christmas returned for 2017. I feel as though the majority of the reusable bubble bars are purely a novelty product more than than anything else. I also find that the majority of them just aren’t as colourful or vibrant in use as the ordinary bubble bars are.

Lush clearly put a lot of effort into making the reusable bubble bars look beautiful and desirable but in my personal opinion, Lush tend to relax a little with them in regards to how well they work as an actual bubble bar. The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar alongside the, The Magic of Christmas reusable bubble bar are however the exceptions to this and I know this is why they both return every Winter without a doubt. The Magic Wand creates just as many bubbles and the brightest of pink water giving the, The Comforter bubble bar (an ordinary bubble bar) a serious amount of competition.

For me the Magic Wand reusable bubble bar ticks every box of the things I look for in a bubble bar. It looks princess-beautiful, smells fantastic, creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles, all while turning your bath water a sparkly and inviting shade of pink. Pink is my favourite colour so a Magic Wand bath is always a real treat for me.

The Magic Wand reusable bubble bar creates a generous amounts of sugar-sweet scented, fluffy white bubbles in no time at all. I can easily get 6 baths out of just the one bubble bar which makes it incredible value for money. To use it all you have to do is hold it under the tap as you run your bath. Once you have the desired amount of bubbles you simply place it on the side so that it can dry, ready for you to use it again whenever you wish.

Magic Wand’s decoration is very basic but so, so cute. I love seeing a big pile of them all stacked up together in store. The bubble bar part is the pink star, the pink star is held up with a wooden lollipop stick, this makes the process of making bath bubbles so much easier as you don’t need to get your hands wet at all. The Lollipop stick is then finished off with one bell and a beautiful silver ribbon made into the perfect bow.

Although the Snow Fairy scent isn’t my favourite Lush scent, the colour of the water the Magic Wand creates well makes up for it. I say Snow Fairy isn’t my favourite but this by all means doesn’t mean I hate it, I just prefer the spicier or citrus scented Lush scents. The Snow Fairy scent however grows on me that little bit more with every Lush Christmas that passes. When it comes down to bubble quantity, the Magic Wand holds its own, I always get a copious amount of bubbles that last throughout my soak. The only negative is that it doesn’t leave my skin as soft or hydrated as I’d like.

Last year Lush however solved this negative for me with the release of the Snow Fairy body conditioner. Now all I have to do during a Magic Wand bath is slap a bit of body conditioner on my legs, knees and elbows. This leaves me feeling as soft as silk and because both products share a scent I don’t have to mix Lush scents either, I just smell of Snow Fairy through and through!
