Love Shower Gel from Lush

The Love Shower Gel is a part of Lush’s 2023 Valentine’s Day line. Sadly, the bottled version is available everywhere but the UK. Luckily, a good friend was able to grab me a bottle and I’m so happy about it as I really do have a ridiculous fear of missing out when it comes to Lush products…

Love is a clear red shower gel. It looks fairly similar to the Rose Jam shower gel although I’d say it’s a lot brighter and a much bolder red.

Love has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency. You’ll recognise its scent if you were ever lucky enough to experience the Fizzbanger bath bomb, to this day I’m still sad that Lush discontinued it. Another product that shares its scent is the Whole Lotta Love bubbleroon from Lush’s 2018 Valentine’s Day line.

Love contains a long list of fresh ingredients including, rose, lemon grass, ylang ylang and bergamot oils. Its scent is quite difficult to describe as it has so many layers. It’s fruity, floral, and also a little spicy too. While some Lush products are classed as being from the same scent-family (sharing certain ingredients) different product formats can make their scent differ in very small ways.

I have found the shower gel to be most like the aforementioned Fizzbanger bath bomb. The rose in it is quite dominant but you also get so much lemon grass from it too. On paper, the ingredients look like they’d clash terribly yet, they just work.

I have to mention here that I feel it’s really unfortunate that so many people within the UK will be missing out on buying this shower gel. Yes, the UK have the shower sphere equivalents, but the spheres just aren’t fit for purpose. They’re a good idea and are a step in the right direction for plastic free shower products BUT the concept still needs a lot of work .

Love shower gel lathers up easily and a very small amount of it goes a very long way. Again, if you’re stuck with the shower spheres you are forced to use 10g of shower gel per shower. A small amount of the Love shower gel really does go a long way, I’d say using even 5g per shower is wasteful. If I can get more uses out of the bottled version, then that’s a good enough reason for me to like the bottled version over the single use spheres. Lush isn’t cheap, if I can make a Lush product go further, then I will.

The Love fragrance really comes to life when you start to lather it up in the shower. It’s sweet, floral and warm. Once out of the shower the Love scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it also does a really good job of cleansing your skin, leaving it looking and feeling brighter. 

Overall, I love, Love! I just wish Lush UK would stop being so silly with their seasonal shower gels right now, until the spheres are drastically improved, I will be sticking to bottled shower gels where I can.

Gold Rabbit Bath Bomb from Lush

The Gold Rabbit Bath Bomb is a product specifically made for the Lunar New Year celebrations. It was released at the end of December 2022 just in time for the start of 2023, the year of the rabbit.

Last year, Lush created another product for Lunar new year with the release of the Lucky Tiger bath bomb, I really liked it so I was incredibly excited to see that Lush had once again decided to celebrate the Lunar New Year with yet another, year-of-the bath bomb.

The Gold Rabbit bath bomb is just a little bit smaller than the standard sized bath bomb weighing in at 180g. It’s created in the shape of a flower-decorated rabbit. Its colour and golden shimmer is very similar to the likes of the aforementioned Lucky Tiger, Rose Gold and Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bombs.

The attention to detail makes the Gold Rabbit such a beautiful bath bomb, the intricate flowers etched into it makes it hard to believe that Lush bath bombs are hand pressed. Since 3D printing technology has improved (making it possible for more complicated bath-bomb-mould designs) the details of Lush bath bombs have gotten better and better.

Gold Rabbit is a pale red (almost cerise) bath bomb coated in plastic-free, shimmery golden pigment (mica). It’s an incredibly sparkly bath bomb so not for the faint hearted, ALTHOUGH – I always feel like I must explain in my reviews of products like this that there’s no need to be afraid of anything from Lush that is sparkly.

When I first got into Lush the thought of using ‘glittery’ products terrified me. However, it’s not at all scary and after just one ‘glittery’ bath I was sold on all things shimmery. Bath bombs such as the Gold Rabbit make for very pleasant experiences, it’s not like jumping into a giant pot of glitter, I promise!

Gold Rabbits scent is from Lush’s scent family, Grass. It is a hugely popular, Lush-retro-fragrance that has featured in copious amounts of different Lush products, in several different formats over the years. There has been a reboot of the shower gel most recently, I will be reviewing it on here sometime soon.

The Gold Rabbit bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients including the likes of: Sandalwood, bergamot and neroli oils. Its scent is best described as being very similar to freshly cut grass. It’s earthy, fresh, and warm.

As soon as the Gold Rabbit bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss. Small cerise bubbles fizzle out of it as the water quickly turns an orangey pink. The golden shimmer also starts to spread around the water too, as the light captures it shimmering, I couldn’t help but ‘ooo’!

Much like last year’s Lunar-new-year bath bomb you don’t get any bath art out of Gold Rabbit and it’s not a foamy bath bomb either. The star points of Gold Rabbit are its scent and the beautiful shimmering water it leaves behind.

It’s a fast fizzer so you’ll be able to lay back to enjoy its sparkly waters in no time at all. The Gold Rabbit bath bombs scent remained on my skin right through until the next day and left my skin soft and refreshed too.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Gold Rabbit bath bomb, it’s a fantastic product inspired by a beautifully reflective and special time of year. I am looking forward to seeing what Lush come up with for Lunar new year, 2024!

Moon Bath Bath Bomb from Lush

The Moon Bath Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product, it was first released as a stand-out product from Lush’s incredible 2022 Christmas line.

Moon Bath happened to be the first bath bomb in the 2022 Christmas line to catch my attention because I’m a mini-Scrooge and love all of the Christmas products that aren’t in-your-face Christmassy.

You’ll recognise Moon Bath’s scent if you’re familiar with the Halloween-favourite, Ghostie bath bomb as they share the same powerful, zesty-fragrance. If you need to wake yourself up, a quick sniff of the Moon Bath bath bomb will do the trick.

The first thing I noticed about the Moon Bath bath bomb was how much it reminded me of a past Christmas-time product, the Angels Delight bath bomb. Both are decorated with a half moon face but that’s their only similarity. Moon Bath is a lot bigger than Angels Delight was, it’s the same size as the all-year-round bath bomb’s Twilight and Avobath.

Ingredients wise, the Moon Bath bath bomb contains – lemongrass, Sicilian lemon, Persian lime oils and plenty of popping candy.

As I said earlier, its scent is a powerful one. It’s super-sour, zesty fragrance will awaken all of your senses. People that think that all bath bombs make you feel sleepy have clearly never tried Moon Bath.

As soon as the Moon Bath bath bomb goes into the water it starts to fizz away. Slowly, thin orange foam spills out of it. It begins to spin, bobbing around your bath.

After 5 minutes a small burst of red foam spills out of the Moon Bath bath bomb. Thicker orange and red foam then begin to create the prettiest bath art.

The bath art that Moon Bath creates is very similar to the bath art that the Christmas Sweater bath bomb did, orange and red swirls go around and around right up until the bath bomb dissolves and it doesn’t take long after putting the bath bomb in for the popping candy to make an appearance too. Snap, crackle, pop!

The photos I have included in this review of the Moon Bath bath bomb do it no justice at all, I couldn’t get enough of this bath bomb in action. The zesty scent fills the room and really comes to life in the steaming-hot bath water. It’s impossible to not feel a spring in your step just by being in its presence.

The water left behind by the Moon Bath bath bomb is a warm and welcoming shade of orange.

Its scent lasted throughout the whole bath but didn’t last for very long on my skin once I was out of the bath. I think this leaves Lush with an obligation to make us a body lotion or body spray that has the Moon Bath fragrance! 😉

The silky-smooth, orange water left behind by this bath bomb is really soothing on your skin which isn’t always the case for citrus based bath bombs. I didn’t find Moon Bath drying on my skin at all BUT I do really think Lush need to create a body lotion with the same scent so that we can layer the scent up.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Moon Bath bath bomb. With it not being particularly Christmassy, I could actually see it working as an all-year-round product. Maybe one day Lush could add it to the permanent all-year-round range as I’m confident that it would be very popular as a summery scent too!
