Partridge in a Pear Tree Bath Bomb from Lush

The Partridge in a Pear Tree Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2022 Christmas line. With it sharing its scent with my favourite Lush body spray – So White/Once Upon a Time, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a few.

There have been several bath bombs released since 2015 that share the same scent as Partridge in a Pear Tree but none of them (in my personal opinion) have ever topped another of my favourite products, the 2016 So White bath bomb.

I was therefore very interested to see if the Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb could live up to my favourite bath bombs hype.

The Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb is very similar decoration and colour-wise to the Rose Gold bath bomb, although I feel Partridge in a Pear Tree has a lot more shimmer.

It’s an orangey-red bath bomb decorated with a light coating of the most gorgeous golden shimmer.

All of Lush’s bath bombs are hand pressed and the mould for Partridge in a Pear Tree has quite an intricate design, it has an actual partridge in a pear tree on its front.

Clearly, it is visually a lot more impressive to look at than my beloved 2016 So White bath bomb, but my question is, will the bath art be as good?

The Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb contains some of the following essential oils; Bergamot, Brazilian orange, neroli and prickly pear. Alongside those oils you will also find rose and orange flower absolute as well as pear powder too.

The website claims that the bath bomb has a pear scent but also says that it’s a part of the Once Upon a Time scent family.

The Once Upon a Time, Lush-scent-family will always smell like crisp, freshly sliced apples to me. Delicious!

As soon as the Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb comes into contact with the bath water a burst of orange colour erupts from it, it begins to slowly fizz away, charging around the water surface like a shimmering orange speed boat.

It doesn’t take long for a stream of yellow to start coming out of the bath bomb too. Orange and yellow swirls begin to create beautiful bath art, the photos in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all.

It takes a good 10 minutes for the Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is a glorious shade of orange and makes the water feel soft as silk, my skin laps up all of the bath bombs goodness, leaving it feeling super hydrated and oh-so-smooth.

Once you’re out of the bath (I really didn’t want to ever get out but had to when it started to get cold!) Partridge in a Pear Tree’s scent can still be smelt on your skin for the rest of the day. Seeing as it is my all-time-favourite Lush scent this left me very happy indeed!

Overall, I really enjoyed having a new bath bomb to try in this Lush scent, its bath art is a lot bolder than the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb (another more recently released bath bomb that shares the same scent) BUT I’m going to be mean and still claim it’s not as good as the So White bath bomb from 2016.

This is only because the bath art isn’t as striking. If I however look at Partridge in a Pear Tree as its own product with no comparison to others, it really is a wonderful bath bomb.

Out of all of this year’s Christmas line, I don’t think I want a bath bomb to come back any more than I do the Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb, next year. Lush, please don’t make the Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bomb a 1-year-wonder like you do so many other Christmas bath bombs, it’s fabulous and deserves a place in the Christmas line for many more years to come.

Sweet Pudding Bath Bomb from Lush

The Sweet Pudding Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product first released as a part of Lush’s 2022 Christmas line. While it looks like a mix of the past Christmas bath bombs, the Luxury Lush Pud and The Golden Pudding, it doesn’t smell like either.

Sweet Pudding actually shares its scent with the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb.

Sweet Pudding is the average size Lush bath bomb at 200g (the same size as the best sellers, Twilight and Intergalactic)

This bright pink pudding-shaped bath bomb was one of the first of the new 2022 Winter products to catch my eye, pink will always be my favourite colour and after falling in love with the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb, I couldn’t wait to give another bath bomb sharing its same scent a go.

The Sweet Pudding bath bomb contains benzoin resinoid, tonka absolute and almond oil. Its scent is sweet and warming. It smells almost like a blend of vanilla with hints of some type of berry. The almond oil adds a slight nuttiness to its fragrance which rounds off the tonka absolute.

It is incredibly moreish, and I can see why Lush have re used the scent again in this bath bomb.

As soon as the Sweet Pudding bath bomb hits the water a burst of thick pink foam erupts from it, slowly the foam begins to thin out but the bright pink colour still spreads, both across the surface of the water and underneath.

I must admit, I expected a little more bath art out of the Sweet Pudding bath bomb, I imagined pink and white swirls that were quite similar to the bath art created by the, The Comforter bath bomb however bath art isn’t all that makes a bath bomb good…

The scent is probably my most favourite thing about this bath bomb, that and the colour it turns the bath water.

While it doesn’t create much bath art it does turn your bath water an incredibly inviting, bright pink. I much prefer it over the Snow Fairy bath bomb.

Sweet Pudding takes approximately 8 minutes to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is incredibly soft and left my skin feeling super hydrated and silky-smooth.

Once you’re out of the bath, Sweet Puddings scent can still be smelt on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day. Its scent also lingers around in your bathroom for a good few hours after using it too.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Sweet Pudding bath bomb. I would love to see it return next Christmas but sadly most of the new bath bombs in the Christmas line only get to see one Christmas.

If Lush don’t want to bring it back then I’d like to at least see the scent appear again, a shower gel equivalent would be divine!

Wally de Wasbeerhond Bath Bomb from Lush

At the time of writing this review, the Wally De Wasbeerhond Bath Bomb (Wally the Raccoon Dog Bath Bomb) is an exclusive product to Lush Netherlands and as far as I am aware, won’t be released anywhere else.

This adorable bath bomb with the face of a raccoon was created and released to raise money and awareness for a very important cause.

Did you know that the fur most commonly worn in Europe comes from the raccoon dog? Did you also know that very recently a number of clothing retailers were found out to be selling ‘faux’ fur items that were actually real fur as bizarrely, real fur is less money to produce? It’s disgusting and cruel. Animals shouldn’t be killed and kept in awful conditions for anything, let alone for fashion purposes.

The Bont voor Dieren are an organisation that are committed to working towards a European ban on the fur industry. All proceeds from the sales of the Wally De Wasbeerhond bath bomb minus VAT are going towards Bont voor Dieren’s fight. (You can read more about what they do here.)

From now on, I am going to refer to the Wally De Wasbeerhond bath bomb as just the Wally bath bomb just to make reviewing and reading this review a little easier for the both of us.

The Wally bath bomb shares its scent with Lush’s popular Daddy-O Shampoo as well as the Violet Cream bubble bar. Some of the ingredients included in the bath bomb are both violet leaf and Pakistan rose absolutes as well as bergamot and canaga oils.

Its scent is warm and delicious, it’s very similar to Parma Violet sweets!

As soon as the Wally bath bomb touches the water there is a gentle hiss of bubbles, at first the bubbles are plain white then as the bath bomb dissolves, they slowly become more and more pink.

Wally is a very slow dissolver, 10 minutes after putting it in the water mine was still fizzing away although much smaller than it started out.

Once it has fully dissolved, the water it leaves behind is a beautiful, light-pink and it feels silky-soft to touch. The violet within in it makes it such an incredibly relaxing bath. The Daddy-O scent is one of Lush’s most uplifting and inviting fragrances and is one I often find myself craving.

Other than the fact that this bath bomb is raising awareness and funds to help the fight against the use of animal furs in Europe, my favourite part has to be its scent. I don’t think I have ever owned a stronger scented bath bomb. I could even smell it as the postman handed me over the well-sealed box of them.

I actually left the closed box of them downstairs in my living room when I went up to bed that night. Amazingly I could still smell them while I lay in bed. After use, the scent also stays on your skin for the longest time after getting out of the bath too, I love it!

Lush really need to release more violet scented products, it’s a really underestimated ingredient that adds so much to a product’s final fragrance. It also seems to work in any format Lush put it in, be that a shampoo, bubble bar or bath bomb.

Why Lush haven’t made this bath bomb available to purchase in other European countries confuses me as I know it would sell brilliantly and would raise so much more money for the cause?!?!!
