Elf Shake Shower Gel from Lush

The Elf Shake Shower Gel is a brand-new release from Lush; It is a limited-edition product that is a part of Lush’s 2022 Christmas line. Taking into account its ingredients, I believe that its name is a play on an ‘health shake’. Changing health to Elf gives the shower gel the perfect Christmas twist. 😉

Elf Shake is an opaque, bright green shower gel. Its colour is almost identical to look at as the Glitch shower gel. On several occasions when I have been in a rush, I have mistakenly grabbed Glitch instead of Elf Shake and vice versa, not realising until after I had started to use it. They may look the same but really do have completely different, clearly identifiable scents!

Elf Shake has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency, it could easily be classed as a shower cream instead of a shower gel.

Elf Shake contains a long list of fresh ingredients including, mint infusion, apple juice, grape juice, kiwi juice, lime juice, sweet wild orange oil and ylang ylang oil. Lush’s website describe it as a ‘sour gumball smoothie’.

I cannot compare its scent to anything released by Lush before, the ‘gumball’ element of the fragrance does make me think of last year’s Jolly shower gel a little BUT it is such a small amount of likeness that I almost didn’t want mention it.

If you like fruity scents that aren’t citrus-thick, Elf Shake may be a good option for you. The kiwi and apple juice in it are what my nose picks up on the most. It’s hard to describe, to me it smells like one of those super-healthy, bright-green smoothies (the pleasant on the tongue kind).

It’s mouth-wateringly good, the apple brings a crispness to it and the mint infusion rounds it off giving it a candy-cane like Christmas edge.

When it comes down to their newly released shower gels, Lush have really outdone themselves this year. As I have said in my previous 2022 shower gel reviews, Lush’s shower gel selection was in desperate need of new life and 2022 has been a brilliant year for Lush shower gels. Elf Shake isn’t my favourite from this year’s new releases, but it’s in my top 3. My husband really likes it and claims that it is the best shower gel Lush have ever released.

The Elf Shake shower gel lathers up easily and a very small amount of it goes a long way. If the rumours are true and Lush UK won’t be selling the seasonal shower gels in bottles come 2023, opting for capsules that you burst just before using instead, I will kick up a stink.

The best thing about all Lush shower gels is how such a small amount goes a long way, introducing just capsules will be such a waste. Not to mention how difficult capsules are to use for customers with bad hands due to illness or injury like me. BUT back to the thankfully, bottled Elf Shake…

…Once out of the shower the Elf Shake scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it also does a really good job of cleansing your skin, leaving it looking and feeling brighter. All of the fresh juice in it really does have an effect on you.

Overall, I love the Elf Shake shower gel, I have my fingers crossed that Lush UK don’t ruin their best year for shower gels yet by getting rid of the bottled shower gels come January 2023. 🤞

Mimosa Shower Gel from Lush

The Mimosa Shower Gel is a brand-new, limited-edition, Mother’s Day product that first became available in the UK in the middle of February 2022. I have well and truly grown bored of Lush’s small collection of all-year-round shower gels so was very excited to get a brand new one in the shower with me.

Mimosa shower gel is a beautiful shade of golden orange, when the sunlight hits it, it really reminds me of a fresh bottle of Calacas shower gel, it glows in exactly the same way. Lush have done the impossible with this shower gel, it is quite literally the sun in shower gel form.

It has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency and since its release, has been popular throughout the Lush Community. There is something about it that is so incredibly moreish.

The Mimosa shower gel contains a long list of ingredients; elderflower infusion, fresh orange juice, wine lees oil, mimosa absolute, sweet wild orange oil, and carnation absolute to name just a few.

Give or take a few ingredients such as the mimosa absolute, the Mimosa shower gel shares a lot of the same ingredients as the Celebrate and Bubbly shower gels. I was really surprised when I first sniffed the Mimosa shower gel straight from the bottle, I was expecting it to smell a little like the shower gels I mentioned earlier but not quite as much as it did.

At first, I really was convinced that the Mimosa shower gel was just yet another version of a Celebrate scented shower gel. I thought Lush had cheated with their claim that Mimosa was a new scent entirely. Some products scents, particularly shower gels do however change in use so although I was sceptical of it being a new Lush scent, I kept an open mind.

As I said earlier, the Mimosa shower gels consistency is quite thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. It lathers up easily and a small amount goes a very long way too. Once the hot water and steam of the shower meets the shower gel and you begin to lather it up, its scent becomes less like the Celebrate shower gel and more of its own.

It is still very similar to the Celebrate shower gel scent wise BUT it has a floral twist that becomes less subtle and more dominant during use. As the mimosa note of the shower gels fragrance becomes more apparent the more, it reminds me of warmer weather and the sunshine. It literally washes away your Winter blues, it’s the perfect pre Spring pick-me-up.

My favourite thing about the Mimosa shower gel is however how it leaves my skin looking and feeling. After I’ve used it, the scent doesn’t last on my skin for very long (if at all) BUT it does leave my skin feeling incredibly soft. It’s also very hydrating; it seems to lock in moisture just as well as a body lotion does.- Overall, I really do like this shower gel, it’s perfect for this time of year. It’s quite literally a bottle of shower-gel-sunshine!

Very Very Frightening Shower Gel from Lush

The Very Very Frightening Shower Gel is a brand new product created for Lush’s 2020 Halloween line. If you’re a fan of the Space Girl bath bomb you’ll be pleased to hear that the Very Very Frightening shower gel has a very similar scent. It’s practically the same, although I feel Very Very Frightening is a little zingier than the aforementioned bath bomb.

To save both myself and you, the reader, I am now going to refer to the Very Very Frightening shower gel as just VVF, I’ve got to the point where I have written the word ‘very’ in-my-blogs-notebook so many times that it doesn’t even look like a real word anymore. 😂

The VVF shower gel contains, grapefruit, bergamot, fresh lemon juice & Fig juice. For those of you who haven’t experienced the Space Girl scent before, both Space Girl and VVF’s scent is a gentle, fruity, sherbet-sweet blend that I can’t get enough of.

VVF’s gentle, sherbet-sweet scent is no trick and all treat! sharing a hot and steamy shower with it will banish away all cobwebs and bad moods. A quick wash with VVF shower gel will put a spring in your step, awaken all of your senses, leaving you feeling clean, uplifted and refreshed.

Appearance wise, the VVF’s shower gel is a very similar yellow to the Nana shower gel and Yuzu & Cocoa shower cream. As for its consistency, VVF is a lot closer to a shower gel than the aforementioned Nana; I find Nana more like a shower slime so I was super pleased to find out that the VVF shower gel was closer to how I think a shower gel should look and feel.

A little amount of VVF goes a very long way. Just a 10p sized blob is more than enough to do your whole body. Even when you use a lot, the VVF doesn’t foam up very much which I know will annoy some people. I would however like to point out that although it doesn’t foam up very much, using it does leave me feeling clean, which really is just what you want out of a shower gel!

Once out of the shower my skin appears and feels clean and brighter. I didn’t find VVF shower gel to be particularly moisturising however it didn’t leave me desperate to use a body lotion after either.

After using VVF its scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day. The scent seems to grow on me the more I use it. I’ve gone from liking it to LOVING it. It’s a shower gel that should have been made by Lush a long time ago. I’d love to see even more products come out with the Space Girl scent soon, I feel that a body spray in particular would fly off the shelves. Hint, hint, Lush! 😉
