Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly from Lush

Papa Noel Face Wash Jelly.pngWhen I first see that Lush Cosmetics had created a Face Wash Jelly I was a little apprehensive. Don’t get me wrong, I trust Lush and all of their ideas completely, it just took me a bit of time to get my head around.

When it comes to my face I am always wary, I have the craziest skin that can never make its mind up. One day it can be crying out for hydration, the next I’m spotty and then sometimes it can also be super greasy and then the vicious circle begins again.

Declaring that my skin is the ‘combination’ type is the understatement of the century, it’s indecisive, annoying and a nightmare to keep on top of.

The first time that I actually see the Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly was at the Lush Creative Showcase 2016. I was still uncertain at the thought of trying it, I had however had the very same feelings before I tried Lush’s shower jellies, with this at the back of my mind, I didn’t hesitate to pick up a pot. After all, it was such an interesting and new concept that I couldn’t not pick one up, even if it was just for the novelty factor…

As you can see from the photograph above Papa Noël Face Wash Jelly is in fact a mask of some sorts. Some people have chopped theirs up into pieces using a chunk a time, I have however left mine all together – for now anyway.

It has a refreshing citrus scent although it’s not quite as tangy as the likes of the Snowman Shower Jelly. I am a huge fan of all things citrus and although Papa Noël is by all means a citrus scent it’s slightly more delicate than I am used to from Lush. This could however be a  positive point. After all, the product is for your face so, (no pun intended) the less in your face the scent is, the better.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first used this face wash. It lathered up within seconds and left my face feeling well cleansed, brighter and smoother. I found that it was really good at clearing out my most troublesome and stubborn pores too.

What has also impressed me is how long it has lasted. I have used it several times now and there doesn’t appear to be any signs of it getting any smaller. One of the things that won me over with the shower jellies is their staying power. Papa Noël, is just as I had originally described my first shower jelly Santa’s Belly, almost indestructible!

I am very, very surprised at how well I got on with this brand new face wash jelly. I wasn’t expecting very much at all, I thought it was just a novelty product that would be a prop for a good selfie or two.

After I have used it my face feels really clean, it seems to have helped the condition of my skin too, since using it I still get the odd dry patch but it seems to keep any excess oil at bay throughout the whole day.

As I have said, I am really fussy when it comes to products for my face and I really wasn’t expecting such positive results from the Papa Noël face wash jelly. I am sorry Lush, I underestimated you again and by now I really, really should know better…

One thing I would like to add to this review is that I wouldn’t recommend using Papa Noël every day, this is however how I feel about all cosmetic products. I find that alternating cosmetic products keeps your skin on its toes. There’s nothing worse than a product that works great for you but because you use it so often your skin begins to get so used to it that it doesn’t do such a great job anymore.

Overall I am thoroughly impressed, when it comes down to skin care it’s near on impossible for me to be so impressed. I am no longer apprehensive in regards to further releases of Lush face wash jellies, I can’t wait to see if Lush have any more on the horizon?

Lover Lamp Bath Bomb from Lush

Lover Lamp Bath Bomb.png

Last year (2016) Lush’s Valentine’s line was packed full of the most amazing, lovey-dovey products.

The first one that caught my attention was the Lover Lamp Bath Bomb. I’m always honest in my reviews and I will admit that in comparison to the wonderfully coloured bath bombs that we had been spoilt with throughout the Winter range, it does appear to be rather dull.

The name Lover Lamp however had me intrigued. That and the fact that you should never judge a bath bomb without using it first. Lush products have an awful habit of doing the complete opposite of what you are expecting…

2

Lover Lamp has a very similar name to the newly reformulated and re released bath bomb the Lava Lamp.

When Lover Lamp first went up for sale (January 2016) the Lava Lamp bath bomb was still at the time a recalled product. (It’s a long story that I’ve written about in its review.)

As the Lava Lamp bath bomb had at the time been banished into the recalled Lush cupboard, many people just presumed that the Lover Lamp was the new Lava Lamp.

Thankfully they were wrong!

Now I have used the Lover Lamp several times I can say with confidence that the Lover Lamp bath bomb is completely different to Lava Lamp. Lover Lamp does have a mild citrus air about it, it is however a very subtle citrus which is the complete opposite of the super zesty Lava Lamp.

As soon as I realised how unalike they were to each other I was over the moon. Lush had yet again managed to come up with another completely unique bath bomb, when you think they surely must have done it all, another amazing and new design comes along and surprises us.

3

Lover Lamp is a crisp white bath bomb decorated with 3 jelly hearts, it turns your bath water a very creamy milk colour and happens to be one of the gentlest bath bombs I have used, both for the skin and its scent.

Its scent is not overpowering at all, it reminds me somewhat of the Christmas time bath bomb Stardust. It has a very creamy vanilla scent mixed with a delicate layer of sweet orange.

I know the scent of Lush products can come across very strong for some. If you’re trying to turn a difficult-to-please person into a full blown Lushie Lover Lamp might just be the bath bomb to win them over…

5

As soon as Lover Lamp hits the water it starts to fizz, not just any type of fizz either, I’d actually describe its level of fizzyness as FIERCE.

Every time I use it I am surprised by how fizzy it is. It’s incredibly satisfying to watch fizz away, as soon as it hits the water you feel a wave of refreshment. The scent, the way it dances in the water and the fierce fizzing creates such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, there is honestly no other bath bomb like it.

7

I didn’t watch any demos prior to first trying out this bath bomb as I wanted it to be a surprise. As Lover Lamp ferociously fizzes away a small handful of red confetti hearts appear, scattering themselves upon the waters surface.

I am truly awful at taking photos the pictures in this post DO NOT do this bath bomb any justice, NONE AT ALL.

Nearer the end of the Lover Lamps reaction to the bath water, the 3 jelly hearts float up to the top of the water too, surrounded by all of the small red, confetti hearts.

6

To someone familiar with Lush bath bombs I would describe Lover Lamp as a mixture of the May Day, Sex Bomb and Think Pink bath bombs.

May Day for its soft and gentle aroma and colouring, Sex Bomb for the jelly hearts, (they are similar to the jelly rose found on the Sex Bomb bath bomb) and lastly the Think Pink bath bomb because of the heart confetti.

4

Lover Lamp is the perfect bath bomb if you’re looking for something that’s gentle and relaxing.

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet but Lover Lamp may be returning as a product in Lush’s Valentine’s 2017 line. We will know for sure next Friday… *fingers crossed*

I really hope it does come back to the UK this year as it really is a remarkable bath product that I fall in love with that little bit more with every single use.

I think it would also make a great permanent exclusive-to-Oxford-Street bath bomb too, just putting the idea out there Lush HQ 😉

Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar from Lush

The Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar is a Lush Cosmetics product that I can never, ever say no to. It shares its scent with one of my favourite Winter shower gels, Hot Toddy.

I love the Hot Toddy scent family, all of their products have an amazing list of warming ingredients.

A Christmas Kisses bath is perfect for soothing and warming up tired and aching muscles. It contains clove leaf, patchouli, cinnamon and sweet orange oil making it a spicy bubble bar with sweet elements too. Its scent is almost identical to the scent of the fizzy cola bottle sweets, it is perfect for the Winter time.

The Christmas Kisses bubble bar makes the long, cold and dull Winter so much easier to endure. Easing yourself into a Christmas Kisses bath is like no other feeling, I hate Winter but this bubble bar really does help me get through it. If my muscles could applaud they would give a standing ovation every single time I used this beautiful bubble bar.

img_4716

The Christmas Kisses bubble bar breaks up easily. The smallest amount creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles. It may be a reasonably small bubble bar, however a little really does go a very long way. I can get 3 generously bubbled bubble baths out of just the one bar.

The only negative point I can think of for it is that I don’t have enough. Which is my fault entirely. I love this bubble bar so much that I am already running very low on it, it was only in the Lush Kitchen a few weeks ago too.

The scent remains strong throughout your bath, it is so, so relaxing, it feels like each and every one of my muscles is being delicately seen to by a very good masseuse.

img_4770

The bubble bar softens the water a great deal, leaving your skin silky smooth, my winter abused skin relishes in it.

Once you are out of the bath the warmth of it and how it feels on your skin remains with you. Any dry patches on your skin disappear and best of all, its scent remains with you right up until you next have a bath…

I am however a little piggy when it comes to bath time, I have a bath at least once a day because they help me manage 2 medical conditions that I have that leave me in constant pain.

I know some people think that 1 bath a day is excessive but if it helps me manage my pain while also limiting the amount of medication I take, it is a no brainer of a solution. I can’t avoid taking pain medication full stop but if I can get relief from a more natural source then I will.

Nothing else from Lush has come close to making me feel as relaxed and care-free as the Christmas Kisses bubble bar does. Next time it’s in the Lush Kitchen I advise you NOT to buy it, NOT one single bar…

…That ensures there’s more for me to grab, mwahahaha! *inserts evil emoji*

The Christmas Kisses bubble bar is one of the very best, you’d be silly not to try it, trust me, I’m a Christmas Kisses addict.
