Mimosa Shower Gel from Lush

The Mimosa Shower Gel is a brand-new, limited-edition, Mother’s Day product that first became available in the UK in the middle of February 2022. I have well and truly grown bored of Lush’s small collection of all-year-round shower gels so was very excited to get a brand new one in the shower with me.

Mimosa shower gel is a beautiful shade of golden orange, when the sunlight hits it, it really reminds me of a fresh bottle of Calacas shower gel, it glows in exactly the same way. Lush have done the impossible with this shower gel, it is quite literally the sun in shower gel form.

It has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency and since its release, has been popular throughout the Lush Community. There is something about it that is so incredibly moreish.

The Mimosa shower gel contains a long list of ingredients; elderflower infusion, fresh orange juice, wine lees oil, mimosa absolute, sweet wild orange oil, and carnation absolute to name just a few.

Give or take a few ingredients such as the mimosa absolute, the Mimosa shower gel shares a lot of the same ingredients as the Celebrate and Bubbly shower gels. I was really surprised when I first sniffed the Mimosa shower gel straight from the bottle, I was expecting it to smell a little like the shower gels I mentioned earlier but not quite as much as it did.

At first, I really was convinced that the Mimosa shower gel was just yet another version of a Celebrate scented shower gel. I thought Lush had cheated with their claim that Mimosa was a new scent entirely. Some products scents, particularly shower gels do however change in use so although I was sceptical of it being a new Lush scent, I kept an open mind.

As I said earlier, the Mimosa shower gels consistency is quite thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. It lathers up easily and a small amount goes a very long way too. Once the hot water and steam of the shower meets the shower gel and you begin to lather it up, its scent becomes less like the Celebrate shower gel and more of its own.

It is still very similar to the Celebrate shower gel scent wise BUT it has a floral twist that becomes less subtle and more dominant during use. As the mimosa note of the shower gels fragrance becomes more apparent the more, it reminds me of warmer weather and the sunshine. It literally washes away your Winter blues, it’s the perfect pre Spring pick-me-up.

My favourite thing about the Mimosa shower gel is however how it leaves my skin looking and feeling. After I’ve used it, the scent doesn’t last on my skin for very long (if at all) BUT it does leave my skin feeling incredibly soft. It’s also very hydrating; it seems to lock in moisture just as well as a body lotion does.- Overall, I really do like this shower gel, it’s perfect for this time of year. It’s quite literally a bottle of shower-gel-sunshine!

Jasmine Bath Bomb from Lush

The Jasmine Bath Bomb is the first product from Lush’s 2022 Mother’s Day range that I’ll be reviewing for you. If you are familiar with last year’s Mother’s Day line, you’ll be awash with the feeling of déjà vu when you see the Jasmine bath bomb as it looks identical to 2021’s Jasmine Cream bubble bar.

Although it looks just like the old bubble bar, it doesn’t share the same scent. The Jasmine bath bomb actually shares its scent with another much-loved, older product, the Northern Lights bath bomb. The Northern Lights bath bomb is one of my all-time favourites, so I was very excited to try a new bath bomb with the same scent.

The Jasmine bath bomb is around the same size at the Peachy bath bomb, just the right size to fit snuggly in to your hand.

It contains jasmine absolute and ylang ylang oil and has a musky yet sharp, floral scent. The more you focus on its scent the more your nose seems to pick up. It’s quite an acquired taste BUT fortunately it is a scent that I enjoy in whatever format Lush choose to release it in.

I’ve been begging Lush to create a body spray or perfume in the Northern Lights scent since at least 2015, I’m still patiently waiting. No rush, Lush. 🙄

As soon as the Jasmine bath bomb touches the water there is no big eruption, or fierce hissing; Just a gentle stream of tiny white bubbles fizzing out of it, it’s so gentle that it barely makes any noise at all. Lush’s website describe the Jasmine bath bomb as ‘beautiful’ and ‘subtle’ and that’s exactly what it is in the water.

You don’t get bath art out of it, just silky-soft, milky-white bath water. Performance wise the Jasmine bath bomb really reminds me of the latest version of the So White bath bomb.

Its unique selling point is 100% its glorious scent. While some may find its lack of colour boring, others may enjoy its simplicity. Sometimes a crisp white bath bomb is just as refreshing as a bright orange or yellow one that is bursting with colour.

The Jasmine bath bomb is the slowest dissolving bath bomb I have ever used from Lush. After 30 minutes, although it was almost all gone, it was still happily fizzing away. I loved laying back in the bath feeling the little bubbles from it tickling my skin, if you shut your eyes, it’s almost like being in a mini jacuzzi. I felt well and truly relaxed in its waters.

I don’t think I’ve ever got out of a bath before the bath bomb has finished before but for the Jasmine bath bomb I had to as someone else needed the bathroom after half an hour… 😬

My skin felt soft and hydrated and the scent remained on my skin for the rest of the day too. Overall, I really did enjoy using the Jasmine bath bomb, its unique to all other bath bombs with its long fizzing time. What it lacks in bath art it well makes up for in scent and with how it leaves you feeling. I am super impressed with this one!

Keep it Fluffy Shower Gel from Lush

The Keep it Fluffy Shower Gel was in my personal opinion the standout, star product in February 2022’s Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.

The Keep it Fluffy scent was first introduced to the world in 2004 under the B Never Too Busy to be Beautiful brand. You’ll most recently recognise it as it featured in Lush’s 2021’s Advent Calendar in perfume form.

Keep it Fluffy shower gel is a slightly darker pink than Lush’s ridiculously popular, Snow Fairy shower gel and has a perfectly thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency.

Keep it Fluffy contains a long list of carefully put together ingredients – Lemongrass infusion, jasmine flower infusion, fine sea salt, Pakistani rose, and vanilla absolutes as well as the following essential oils; lemongrass and ylang ylang.

Keep it Fluffy’s scent is an inviting, powdery vanilla with hints of lemongrass. The ylang ylang within it also adds a floral element to it too. It’s a super fun, uplifting and glamourous fragrance.

As I said earlier Keep it Fluffy’s consistency is thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. A small amount of it goes a very long way, and it lathers up with ease.

In use, the warmth of the hot water and steam from the shower really bring the fragrance to life, some even say that ylang ylang is a great aphrodisiac, this ties the Keep it Fluffy shower gel in with the theme of Valentine’s Day perfectly.

Once you’re out of the shower, Keep it Fluffy’s scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it’s a lot more subtle on your skin than when it is fresh out of the bottle but its scent is still there and just as sultry.

The inclusion of the fine sea salt in the Keep it Fluffy shower gel makes it both an excellent cleanser and very gentle exfoliant. My skin feels a lot smoother after just one shower.

I also find that it leaves my skin hydrated enough to get away with not having to moisturise my whole body after getting out of the shower too, saving me some precious time. Time being something we can all agree on needing a bit more of…

I love when Lush bring their old scent-families back to life, people that have been shopping with Lush since they first opened their doors really do appreciate the trip down memory lane that the old scents take them on. It’s also a fabulous way to introduce new customers into the scents that made Lush who they are today.

I cannot wait to see if Lush release more products in the Keep it Fluffy fragrance and I hope that once again Lush bring this shower gel out properly so that I can get a much bigger bottle! 😊
