Two Families Bath Bomb from Lush

The Two Families Bath Bomb (also known as the Two Families Macabomb because of its macaroon-like design) was released by Lush in collaboration with the Netflix TV series, Bridgerton.

In this collaboration, Lush have created a whole line of Lush X Bridgerton products; One part of the collaboration was a Bridgerton themed Lush Kitchen Subscription Box, another a Fresh and Flowers box. The third, a line of online and in-store Bridgerton themed products.

The Two Families Bath Bomb is from the online and in-store Bridgerton line.

I was lucky enough to receive a Two Families bath bomb in a surprise box sent from Lush. I squealed the house down when I saw the parcel sat on my doorstep. Thanks again Lush!

As I said earlier, the Two Families bath bomb is designed to look like a macaroon. Two bits of bath bomb are sandwiched together by a dollop of cocoa butter.

What makes the Two Families bath bomb so unique however is the fact both sides of the bath bomb have two completely different scents.

The yellow side which features the word LUSH in its middle, shares its scent with the Yuzu and Cocoa bubbleroon, a long-discontinued bubble bar version of a macaroon.

While the blue side that has the Bridgerton logos letter B in its middle, shares its scent with the Deep Sleep bath bomb.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is best described as a delicious chocolate orange fragrance and Deep Sleep is a calming mix of lavender and chamomile.

I am always honest in my Lush reviews, and I admit I like most of the Lush products I try. Both the Yuzu and Cocoa and Deep Sleep Lush-fragrances are favourites of mine, but together? I really wasn’t sure they’d work but kept an open mind.

Lush describe the Two Families bath bomb as ‘a beautiful union of scent’ and with me keeping an open mind I decided to use the Two Families bath bomb whole, instead of splitting it and using it over 2 baths.

The Two Families bath bomb contains fair trade organic cocoa butter, fair trade shea butter, lavender oil, chamomile oil, lavender absolute, neroli oil, bergamot oil, grapefruit oil, tonka absolute, cocoa absolute, yuzu powder, lavender powder, extra virgin coconut oil and almond oil.

As the Two Families bath bomb comes in to contact with your bath water there is a gentle hiss as a tiny stream of coloured bubbles seeps out of it. If you put the yellow part under first, the bubbles are yellow and if you put the blue part in first, the bubbles will be blue.

It was at this point of using the bath bomb that I realised the two scents mixed together really wasn’t something I liked. As I said, I like both the Yuzu and Cocoa and Deep Sleep Lush-scent-families but together I was left feeling completely overwhelmed, almost a sensory overload.

I have however heard many more positive opinions on this product than I have negative, just because I didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean you won’t too.

The Two Families bath bomb took about seven minutes to dissolve. The hotter your bath water the quicker the cocoa butter centre will melt though, so this time differs depending on that.

Because of the cocoa butter centre, the Two Families bath bomb is quite an oily bomb, like the Butterball bath bomb I advise using it with hot as you can stand it water.

The water left behind is a bright shade of green and is probably the most hydrating bath bomb I’ve used in a long time.

I did have to jump in the shower after I’d got out of the bath as there was so much oil left on me. This is something that I never have to normally do after a Lush bath.

Overall, I loved the idea of the Two Families bath bomb, it was a clever way of representing two families coming together in marriage, but I personally didn’t enjoy it because of the clashing scents, I am super fussy with scents though so don’t just take my word for it on this bath bomb.

The Comforter Shower Gel from Lush

At the time of writing this review, the, The Comforter Shower Gel is currently only available to buy in 570g bottles at Lush stores with a Discon Wall. I managed to get a hold of this bottle in Lush’s big Glasgow store a few weeks ago.

I have only ever used the, The Comforter shower cream until now and that was a good few years ago back when it was a mainline product.

I was devastated when Lush discontinued it so as soon as I heard about the shower gel equivalent being an item on the Discon Wall I knew I had to get a bottle.

The shower gel is described by Lush as ‘like a cuddle in a bottle’. If you’ve used the bestselling The Comforter bubble bar before, you’ll recognise its soothing-berrylicious scent straight away.

Other products that have been in its scent are the, The Comforter bath bomb and The Comforter solid perfume.

The, The Comforter shower gel contains blackberry decoction, vanilla pod decoction, bergamot oil, blackcurrant absolute and cypress oil.

Its scent is best described as a blackcurrant lovers’ idea of heaven. It has a very distinctive berry fragrance that at first, I wasn’t entirely sure about BUT over time, I’ve fallen head over heels in love with. I now wish to try the scent in every product format possible!

The scent has been named perfectly as there really is something that is just so comforting about the, The Comforter scent.

A small amount of the, The Comforter shower gel goes a long way, and it is very easy to get out of the bottle. It has a creamy consistency too. This shower gel equivalent is so similar to the shower cream version that I can’t actually notice any difference between the two at all.

The, The Comforter shower gel is a darker pink colour and glides over your skin leaving it clean, hydrated, and fresh with minimum effort.

The Comforter shower gels scent really shines through when combined with the hot water and steam from your shower.

It feels incredible lathered up all over your skin. I didn’t find it necessary to moisturise after using it in the shower either.

Scent-strength-wise I’d say that the, The Comforter shower gel is one of Lush’s stronger fragrances. I can still smell the scent on my skin several hours after using it.

If you are looking for a creamy shower gel that not only cleans but freshens up tired and dull skin too, look no further that the, The Comforter shower gel.

Overall, I love this shower gel and am so pleased to finally have a bottle of it in my possession, I have my fingers crossed that Lush decide to make it more readily available soon so that more people can give it a try or like me, relive it!

Magik CBD Bath Bomb from Lush

Lush have recently added four new ‘Magik’ products to their CBD range, today I will be reviewing the brand new Magik Bath Bomb, also known as the Magik CBD Epsom Salt Cube.

As someone who often struggles to switch off and relax, anything that can help me get to that state of mind quicker is worth a try.

I was lucky enough to be gifted all four of the new CBD products from Lush, I am so incredibly grateful for Lush’s generosity yet again; Every time I get a package from them it’s like all my Christmases have come at once!

Before we delve deeper into my review of the Magik bath bomb I want to talk about the CBD element of all the new products…

CBD is short for cannabidiol; Cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive and non-addictive compound found in hemp plants, in simple terms it means using this Lush product won’t get you high.

There has been a lot of research conducted around the use of CBD oil and it is said to have a long list of health-benefits.

It is said to help with stress management as well as aiding those suffering with anxiety and/or sleep problems, it has also been proven to help people like me, who suffer from medical conditions that cause wide-spread chronic pain.

The very reason I first got into Lush was because I was looking for non-medicinal alternatives to prescription painkillers, so it is only natural for me to jump at the chance to try each of the new CBD products.

The Magik bath bomb is pink and green and made into a cube shape, it’s the same design as the Salt Water Soother and Deep Sleep bath bombs.

All of my reviews on this blog are my own personal experience with Lush products. I’ve had a few messages from people who haven’t tried the Magik products yet but have some experience with CBD say things like, ‘this won’t work for…’

I’m always open to listen to other people’s thoughts and opinions but I feel my job in a review like this is to tell you how I found the product AFTER I have used it and not before, so here we go!

As well as the CBD hemp seed oil, the Magik bath bomb also contains Epsom salts, chamomile blue oil, jasmine absolute, violet leaf absolute, ylang ylang absolute and shiitake mushroom powder.

Its shares its scent with the Ultra Violet bubble barWild Violet Co-Mingle body scrub and the other three products from the same new ‘Magik’ line.

As soon as you place the Magik bath bomb into your bath water you are greeted with a gentle hiss of light pink and green bubbles. The hot bath water ensures that as soon as the Magik bath bomb encounters it, you’re hit with the gentle but sweet smell of violets, it’s an incredibly fresh and natural fragrance.

There are herbal and grassy elements to its scent too. I find this bath bombs blend of ingredients as incredibly grounding and surprisingly warming in a Summertime way; A weird description I know but it’s what I smell and how I feel using it.

It only takes the Magik bath bomb two minutes to fully dissolve leaving you with more time to sit back and relax in the hot water that hasn’t had too much time to cool down yet… BLISS!

Magik is not much of a bath art bath bomb but the small amount of green and pink bubbles it does create are very pretty.

As soon as the bath bomb is put in, the Epsom salts fall to the bottom of the bath before also dissolving. Any Lush product that has Epsom salts in ALWAYS creates the most incredibly soft water and the Magik bath bomb did not disappoint in this department.

After use, my skin is perfectly hydrated and feels clean and silky-soft too. For me in particular, I have always found this products Lush-scent-family quite calming so it wouldn’t be fair to assume that my feeling more relaxed was all down to the CBD content in it. BUT I did leave the bath feeling very relaxed and refreshed, CBD or not. Overall, I love the Magik bath bomb!
