Surprised Patrick Bath Bomb from Lush

For plastic-free-July Lush collaborated with the American animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants to help keep our oceans and waterways clean. One part of the collaboration was the Lush X SpongeBob collection and the other was a SpongeBob, Lush Kitchen exclusive themed box.

Today I’ll be reviewing the Surprised Patrick Bath Bomb from the main Lush X SpongeBob collection.

What I loved the most about the Lush X SpongeBob collaboration is that you could enjoy all of the products even if you aren’t a fan/are not familiar with the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. I happen to be a lifelong fan of SpongeBob so was generally so excited to see so many amazing SpongeBob themed products become available!

The Surprised Patrick bath bomb is a bath bomb shaped as one of the main characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants television series. Patrick Star is the best friend of the lead character, SpongeBob.

Patrick is a loveable and very goofy coral pink starfish who is known for not having much common sense, he like SpongeBob is easily influenced so getting himself into some type of trouble is an almost daily occurrence, hence this bath bomb being the Surprised version of Patrick.

The Surprised Patrick bath bombs scent is fairly new to Lush only having featured in one lip scrub prior to the release of the Lush X SpongeBob line. Its scent is a blend of sweet vanilla and coconut and oozes beach vibes.

The Surprised Patrick bath bomb contains, fir balsam resinoid, vanilla absolute, coconut milk powder and plenty of popping candy.

The bath bombs coconut rich fragrance really fits in with the tropical theme of the SpongeBob television series. The end credit song played in my head on a loop while using all of the SpongeBob products but especially for the Surprised Patrick and SpongeBob bath bombs.

Its scent is incredibly moreish and makes me want to book a sunny holiday where I can sit on a beach, sand between my toes, drinking fruity cocktails. Unfortunately, this bath bomb is the closet I’ll be getting to a holiday for a while but it will do!

As soon as you place the Surprised Patrick bath bomb into your bath water a burst of coral pink foam spills out of it. Slowly but surely the Surprised Patrick bath bomb bubbles away, filling your bathroom with its sweet vanilla and coconut scent.

I ignorantly assumed that both the SpongeBob and Surprised Patrick bath bombs would just be the standard, one-colour-only type of bath bombs like Avobath or Sakura. I was however very wrong…

After approximately 2 minutes, the popping candy hidden within the Surprised Patrick bath bomb begins to snap, crackle and pop away and orange and yellow colours also begin to make a show in amongst the coral pink coloured foam.

The photos I took and have included in this review (as always) do the bath bomb no justice at all, the bath art it created was incredible. It reminded me of the bath art that the, The Enchanter bath bomb creates. The 3 colours swirl and blend together so perfectly.

It takes just under 5 minutes for the Surprised Patrick bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is a warm, Summery shade of orange.

I didn’t find the bath bomb drying on my skin, but I wouldn’t say it left my skin feeling particularly hydrated either. Its scent however, (although very subtle) stayed on my skin long after I had left the bathtub.

As seen in the photo above, hidden inside of the Surprised Patrick bath bomb are Patrick’s pink and yellow pants!

Overall, I really enjoyed the Surprised Patrick bath bomb. It just like the SpongeBob bath bomb, ticked so many boxes in what I love in a bath bomb, it smelt great, put me in holiday mode, and created the most unexpectedly gorgeous bath art too. The hidden paper pants also put a huge smile on my face.

The Lush collaboration products just keep getting better and better, I can’t wait to see what Lush come up with and with who, next!

SpongeBob Bath Bomb from Lush

For plastic-free-July, Lush collaborated with the American animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants to help keep our oceans and waterways clean. One part of the collaboration was the Lush X SpongeBob collection and the other was a SpongeBob, Lush Kitchen exclusive themed box.

Today I’ll be reviewing the SpongeBob Bath Bomb from the main Lush X SpongeBob collection.

What I loved the most about the Lush X SpongeBob collaboration is that you could enjoy all of the products even if you aren’t a fan/are not familiar with the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. I happen to be a lifelong fan of SpongeBob so was generally so excited to see so many amazing SpongeBob themed products!

The SpongeBob bath bomb is a bath bomb shaped as the main character of the SpongeBob SquarePants television series.

He is a bright yellow, happy-go-lucky, accident-prone sea sponge with brown short square shaped pants, a white shirt and red tie. He is often unintentionally annoying and quite often strange but has a heart of gold who would do anything for his loved ones and probably strangers too.

The SpongeBob bath bomb shares its scent with the Cyclops bubble bar from Lush’s 2022 Halloween line. It’s a fairly new scent to Lush but it’s made the odd appearance through several new products and has proven very popular. It is described as a ‘passion fruit’ fragrance.

The SpongeBob bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients, it has pineapple powder, popping candy and the following essential oils; Buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil and sweet wild orange oil.

The bath bombs passion fruit like fragrance really fits in with the tropical theme of the SpongeBob television series. The end credit song played in my head on a loop even while I was just thinking about the bath bomb while writing this review.

Its scent is super uplifting and the more I sniff it the more I want it, it is simply delicious! It makes me want to book a sunny holiday where I can sit on a beach, sand between my toes, drinking fruity cocktails.

As soon as you place the SpongeBob bath bomb into your bath water a burst of yellow foam spills out of it. Slowly but surely the SpongeBob bath bomb bubbles away, filling your bathroom with its mouth wateringly delightful scent.

I ignorantly assumed that the SpongeBob bath bomb would just be the standard, yellow-only bath bomb that didn’t have any other colour inside of it, a bit like the Avobath bath bomb. I was however very wrong…

After approximately 3 minutes the popping candy begins to snap, crackle and pop away and an aqua blue colour begins to make a show in amongst the yellow foam.

The photos I took and have included in this review do the SpongeBob bath bomb no justice at all, the bath art it created was incredible. It reminded me of the bath art that the long discontinued Fizzbanger bath bomb used to create. The blue and yellow colours clash so perfectly.

It takes about 6 or 7 minutes for the SpongeBob bath bomb to fully dissolve, the water it leaves behind is bright green thanks to the mix of yellow and aqua blue bath art.

I didn’t find the bath bomb drying on my skin, but I wouldn’t say it left me particularly hydrated either. Its passion fruit scent stayed on my skin long after getting out of the bath.

As seen in the photo above, hidden inside of the SpongeBob bath bomb are SpongeBob’s pants!

Overall, I really enjoyed the SpongeBob bath bomb. It ticked so many boxes in what I like in a bath bomb, it smelt great, lifted my mood, and created the most gorgeous bath art too. The hidden paper pants also put a huge smile on my face.

The Lush collaboration products just keep getting better and better, what a fantastic and fun product the SpongeBob bath bomb is!

The Olive Branch Bath Bomb from Lush

Very recently I found an old USB full of photos of Lush products that I thought I’d lost in a house move. I thought I’d explain that, as I am sure that a lot of my readers will be wondering where the sudden influx of old-Lush-product reviews have come from… I have had notes on certain products written up for years sat without any photos to use, hence me not ever officially reviewing them on here BUT with my old USB of photos it’s now possible to finally finish my reviews on them all!

Today I am reviewing, The Olive Branch Bath Bomb. The Olive Branch bath bomb first came out in the UK as a part of a huge community release back in November 2018. Before then it had only been available in one Lush store in the world, in Harajuku, Japan.

As its name suggests it shares a scent with The Olive Branch shower gel. The Olive Branch bath bomb is the standard shaped and sized bath bomb, being the same size as the Intergalactic and Avobath bath bombs.

To look at, the Olive Branch bath bomb is designed and made in exactly-the-same way as the Tender is the Night bath bomb, but where Olive Branch is orange, Tender is the Night is pink. It’s a very simple but cute looking design.

The Olive Branch bath bomb contains, orange flower absolute and the following essential oils, bergamot, lemon, Sicilian red Mandarin, and fair-trade olive oil. It’s a stunning and delicate citrus fragrance, perfect for anyone who is wary of the stronger Lush scents that Lush are often associated with.

Other products that share its scent are the Pop in the Bath and the, The Christmas Penguin bubble bars.

As soon as the Olive Branch bath bomb touches the water, small orange and white bubbles begin to spill out of it. More bubbles trickle out of it as it gently hisses away, bobbing around your bath like a tiny speedboat.

The Olive Branch bath bomb isn’t huge on bath art, its unique selling point is definitely its gorgeous scent. After approximately 5 minutes The Olive Branch bath bomb has fully dissolved leaving you with the silkiest, orange-tinted-bathwater. My skin has never felt better.

The Olive Branch bath bomb is incredibly hydrating because of the fair-trade olive oil in it BUT this doesn’t mean it leaves you feeling super oily, Lush seem to have the ratio of olive oil within this bath bomb just right. It’s just enough to moisturise your skin without you feeling at all greasy or overly oily.

Although the scent of The Olive Branch bath bomb is so gentle it can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath. After using it, my skin still feels incredibly soft throughout the next day.

Yes, The Olive Branch bath bomb isn’t as exciting to watch perform in the bath as some of the other bath bombs included in the November 2018 community release such as the Marshmallow World and Melusine bath bombs but its scent and the way it leaves your skin feeling, after using it is like no other bath bomb.

I really loved this bath bomb and am sad that it has now been discontinued, it was one-of-the-best of the plainer bath bombs that Lush have ever released. I am hoping that one day, Lush will bring it back.
