All That Jas Bath Bomb from Lush

My favourite thing about the Lush Kitchen is that it gives long-time Lush customers the chance to try long-forgotten, discontinued products from Lush’s past. The All That Jas Bath Bomb is one of Lush’s older, original bath bombs and one I adore with all my heart.

I was therefore over the moon to see that the All That Jas bath bomb had finally made it into a Lush Kitchen Subscription box back in the August of last year (2022).

The All That Jas bath bomb shares its scent with several beautiful Lush products, the most popular and currently available being the Silky Underwear dusting powder. Other older products that share its same scent are the Mistletoe bath bomb and Fairy Ring soap.

The All That Jas bath bomb isn’t as eye catching as some of Lush’s most recently released bath bombs, it’s a simple, pastel green bath bomb decorated with a single white sugar-flower. The fact that All That Jas is so plain is not a negative at all, when it comes down to Lush, it’s quite often the case that less is more.

All That Jas is the standard shaped bath bomb fitting snuggly in my hand. It contains both vetivert and ylang ylang oils and as the bath bombs name suggests, jasmine absolute. Jasmine on its own isn’t one of my favourite scents, I’d go as far as to say that I am a little repulsed by it in products such as the Fox bath bomb.

Fortunately, the addition of vetivert and ylang ylang oils blended with the jasmine absolute rounds the jasmine off enough for me to really enjoy the musky, powdery-sweet, All That Jas fragrance.

As soon as the All That Jas bath bomb encounters your bath water it begins to gently hiss. Tiny, powdery-green bubbles fizz out of the All That Jas bath bomb as it bobs about your bath, floating and spinning away.

The All That Jas bath bomb isn’t the boldest of greens, the water is only slightly tinted with a powdery green colour after using it. Some bath bomb colours are so strong, that once it has all dissolved you can’t see your hand when you place it under the water. The All That Jas bath bomb isn’t highly pigmented though, it’d be a good choice of bath bomb to use if you’re wary of too much colour in your bathtub.

The white sugar-flower dissolves away at the same rate as the All That Jas bath bomb. The bath bomb is a very quick dissolver; Fully dissolving in just over 2 minutes.

The scent is prominent throughout your bath and lingers in your bathroom once it’s gone down the plug hole too. A soak in its waters leaves your skin soft and perfectly hydrated, the gentle All That Jas scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

Overall, I am a huge fan of the All That Jas bath bomb, it’s simple but effective, AND ALL THAT JAZZ! I’d love to see Lush bring this Lush-scent-family back to life in future new products.

Sticky Dates Co-Mingle Body Scrub from Lush

Exactly a year after the Co-Mingle body scrub first came out Lush released another just like it, the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle Body Scrub. The Sticky Dates Co-Mingle is a part of Lush’s small but impressive, limited-edition 2023 Eid line. You’ll recognise its scent from last years’ Eid-line-product turned all-year-round item, the Sticky Dates shower gel.

Sticky Dates Co-Mingle is sold in pots of 225g and is described by Lush as a ‘wash, exfoliant and moisturiser all in one.’ After the success of both the original Co-Mingle and Sticky Dates shower gel I couldn’t wait to give it a go.

The Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub is brown, just like the shower gel of the same name. Consistency-wise it’s a little less fluffy than the original Co-Mingle, at the risk of putting people off, I’d describe it as a very watery, chocolate porridge. I admit that on a sensory level, I was wary with its formula at first. It’s not the most pleasant to look at or to get out of the pot BUT once you get to using it how it is intended to be used, all is fine, I promise.

As I said earlier, the Sticky Dates Co-Mingles scent is the same as the Sticky Dates shower gel. Its scent is truly delicious, it smells just like a hot and gooey, sticky toffee pudding with a generous scoop or 2 of vanilla ice cream. Yummy.

One of the things I really love about Lush is the thought that goes into each individual lush product. Lush never just throw random ingredients together. During Eid, dates are quite often the first food to be eaten when breaking fast. Hence the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub being a part of the Eid line.

Sticky Dates Co-Mingle contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are, vanilla pod infusion, organic date syrup, orange juice, ground date-stones and almond shells as well as almond, argan and sandalwood oils. The ground date-stones and almond shells are the secret scrubby ingredients that makes the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle such a good exfoliator.

A very small amount of the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub goes a long way, like the original Co-Mingle I however always overindulge when using it. I scoop out about 3 fingers worth and that easily does my whole body, twice over. Unlike the original Co-Mingle, the Sticky Dates Co-Mingle starts to exfoliate immediately, it lathers up effortlessly and its delicious scent fills your bathroom as it scrubs, washes, and hydrates your skin all in one.

The Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub is just as good as the original Co-Mingle if not better. After using it my skin feels so much softer, appears brighter and is so incredibly hydrated. There really is no need to moisturise after using it. Although, I wouldn’t say no to Lush creating a Sticky Dates body lotion… The Sticky Dates Co-Mingle body scrub also cleans just as good as any shower gel or body wash.

I adore both the Sticky Dates Lush-scent-family and the whole idea behind Co-Mingle body scrubs, I can’t wait to see what Lush create next!

Slow Down Bath Bomb from Lush

Back in September 2022, Lush did a collaboration with The Poetry Pharmacy. The 3 bath bombs created for this super-unique line have sold well and are currently still available to purchase at the time of writing this review.

The third and final of the 3 bath bombs from the Lush X Poetry Pharmacy collaboration that I would like to introduce you to is the Slow Down Bath Bomb.

As I mentioned earlier, the bath bombs within this collection are truly unique to anything Lush have released before.

Each of the bath bombs have a hidden paper insert inside of them with a short poem on it relating to the bath bombs name.

The Slow Down bath bomb is a milky blue standard shaped Lush bath bomb at approximately 180g. Colour wise it is very similar to the Atom Heart Mother bath bomb.

The idea behind the poetry bath bombs are that they are an easy way to immerse yourself in perfume and poetics. As its name suggests, the Slow Down bath bomb wants you to do just that. Slow down, give yourself a well-earned break and moment to destress.

Lush’s website lists it as to be used ‘to evoke moments of reflection and serenity,’. 

Ingredients wise the Slow Down bath bomb contains bergamot, neroli and petitgrain oils.

The Lush-scent-family that it comes from is called Nero. Slow Down’s scent is a gentle citrus with floral notes, it is probably the lightest scent of the 3 poetry bath bombs.

Even though Slow Down is quite a light fragrance it’s still incredibly refreshing, as soon as I put the bath bomb in the bath water, I began to feel more relaxed.

As soon as you put the Slow Down bath bomb in the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss, tiny light blue bubbles erupt from the bath bomb as it starts to turn your bath water a milky shade of blue.

It’s gentle yet refreshing scent fills your bathroom, lulling you into a more relaxed state of mind. Things really do slow down if you take a moment to just relax and enjoy the bath bombs show.

After only 3 minutes the Slow Down bath bomb has fully dissolved revealing its hidden poem. Sometimes the quick fizzing bath bombs are the best as they give you more time to just enjoy its waters.

I’d like to point out that not everyone gets the same poem in the same bath bomb. I am unsure on how many different poems are put in each of the bath bombs BUT have seen other people get a different poem to me that also relates to the bath bomb’s theme.

My skin basks in the silky-smooth bath water created by the Slow Down bath bomb. My skin feels so soft to the touch. None of the poetry bath bombs give you any bath art, but they all give you a truly relaxing bathing experience. The scent of the Slow Down bath bomb although subtle, lasts on my skin long after I have got out of the bath.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Slow Down bath bomb, I think I’ll go as far as to say it’s my favourite from the poetry collection. I wholeheartedly recommended giving each of the poetry bath bombs a try, the added aspect of poetry makes them all the better of an experience to use. What amazing concept will Lush think of next?
