Groovy Fairy Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snow Fairy scent dominates the Lush Christmas line and this year (2023) there are THREE Snow Fairy scented bath bombs available. Today I am reviewing the Groovy Fairy Bath Bomb which happens to be the cheapest of the three.

In true Snow-Fairy-fashion, the Groovy Fairy bath bomb is all one colour, a brilliantly bright pink! It has been designed in the shape of a cartoon fairy. The fairy has a star topped magic wand, little pointed feet, a bobbed style haircut and her fairy wings are decorated with little etched-in-stars.

Its look and name are clearly inspired by the Bang On The Door, Groovy Chick merchandise from the 90’s. Yes, I had a Groovy Chick bedroom growing up so recognised the resemblance straight away.

Weighing in at approximately 95g, Groovy Fairy is the same size as the Sleepy Bear bath bomb.

The Snow Fairy scent is best described as a sweet blend of candy floss and bubble gum. My first experience with the Snow Fairy scent was through the Snow Fairy shower gel many years ago.

I don’t always favour the super-sweet-scented Lush products however, with the Snow Fairy scent featuring so heavily in so many of Lush’s best-selling products, it’s impossible to avoid… Especially in the Winter!

Over the years I have warmed to the scent somewhat. The fact that every Snow Fairy item is a bright and glorious hot pink (my favourite colour) really helps me warm to each product too.

As I said earlier, Groovy Fairy isn’t the only Snow Fairy scented bath bomb from this year’s Christmas line. There is also a new-look Snow Fairy bath bomb and if you’re looking to really splash out on a HUGE Snow-Fairy-scented bath bomb, there is also the Snow Fairy Lights bath bomb too.

As the Groovy Fairy bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of hot pink foam. It isn’t a bath bomb that produces any colourful bath art patterns, its selling points are its sweet as candy scent as well as the pink colour it turns your bath water.

The bath water left behind is not only bright pink but is also laced with a light yet beautiful shimmer.

The Groovy Fairy bath bomb took less than 3 minutes to fully dissolve, and its scent is sweet and strong right up until the last drop of it goes down the plug hole.

I found the bath water left behind by the Groovy Fairy bath bomb to be incredibly refreshing on the skin. Its sweet, bubble gum-rich scent can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath too. For some reason, I never find any of Lush’s Snow-Fairy-scented bath bombs to be particularly hydrating on the skin, but my skin wasn’t any dryer than normal after using the Groovy Fairy bath bomb.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Groovy Fairy bath bomb, it’s a fantastic choice for anyone who is looking to experience the Snow Fairy scent at a lower price. It would also make the perfect Christmas gift for someone who you’d like to introduce to Lush Cosmetics or as a gift for an old school Lush fan too.

NEW Snow Fairy Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snow Fairy Bath Bomb is back again, it has however had a makeover. The old, half pink, half white version with the blue and white snowflakes on has long gone, it has been replaced with a bright pink bath bomb with crisp-white swirls!

The Snow Fairy scent family dominates Lush’s Christmas line every Winter and this year is no exception. Do I prefer the older version of it? I wouldn’t go as far as to say that I miss it, I like the uncomplicatedness of the new look Snow Fairy bath bomb, it’s weird that something less intricate can be more desirable.

All of Lush’s products are handmade, there’s something about the new Snow Fairy bath bomb that looks more handmade than the older version. I find with all Lush products, the more handmade the product looks the more ‘Lush charm’ it has.

Weighing in at approximately 180g the new Snow Fairy bath bomb is a little bit smaller than the standard Lush bath bombs such as Intergalactic and Twilight which are 200g each, although you wouldn’t know it just by looking at it.

My first experience with the Snow Fairy scent was through the shower gel many years ago. The Snow Fairy scent is best described as a sweet blend of candy floss and bubble gum.

I don’t always favour the super-sweet-scented Lush products, HOWEVER, with the Snow Fairy scent featuring so heavily in so many of Lush’s best-selling products it’s impossible to avoid, especially in the Winter.

Over the years I have warmed to the scent somewhat. The fact that every Snow Fairy item is a bright and glorious hot pink (my favourite colour) really helps me warm to each product too! 😉

Funnily enough, the Snow Fairy bath bomb isn’t the only bath bomb from this Winters’ Christmas line that has the Snow Fairy scent, we have the Groovy Fairy bath bomb and Snow Fairy Lights bath bomb too.

As soon as the Snow Fairy bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of hot pink foam. It slowly bobs around your bath spitting out pink and white bubbles as it charges around, floating upon the surface of the water.

I am always honest in my reviews, and I must admit that I was expecting a lot more from the Snow Fairy bath bomb bath-art-wise. It had the potential with the white and pinks, but it just didn’t take off.

It’s not fantastic bath-art-wise but it does put on a beautiful show. As the bath bomb dissolves, the water slowly turns a bright and sparkly pink. Swirling the water around with my hand really showed off how sparkly it was.

The Snow Fairy bath bomb took well over 10 minutes to fully dissolve. Its scent is sweet and strong right up until the last drop of it goes down the plug hole.

I found the water that the Snow Fairy bath bomb left behind to be soft on the skin and incredibly refreshing. Its sweet, bubblegum-rich scent can still be detected on your skin long after getting out of the bath too. I wouldn’t say it was the most hydrating of bath bombs, BUT my skin wasn’t any dryer than normal after using it.

I did really enjoy the new design of the Snow Fairy bath bomb however I would have liked to have seen more bath art out of it, maybe I’m just being fussy though!

Bonehead Bubble Bar from Lush

The Bonehead Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2023 Halloween line. Designed to look like a playful and not-at-all-scary skull with googly, rattling around eyes, it is described on Lush’s website as a ‘numbskull bringing foolish fun’ to bath time.

If you’ve been a Lush customer for a while, you are more than likely to recognise the Bonehead bubble bars scent as it also features in the past Lush products the Snowman Bomb Bomb and Polar Bear Plunge bubble bar.

Each Bonehead bubble bar weighs in at approximately 160g which is just 10g lighter than the Pumpkin Crumble bubble bar (another bubble bar from the 2023 Halloween line) it’s a good-sized bubble bar that fits snuggly in my hand.

The Bonehead bubble bar contains a generous amount of cooling spearmint oil and hidden inside of it is loose, blue-tinted fine sea salt.

The Bonehead’s scent is incredibly refreshing, it’s so minty-fresh that it awakens all of my senses. Giving it a good sniff makes my nose tingle!

Minty products rarely feature in the Lush Halloween lines, so I was very excited to see Boneheads list of ingredients.

To use the Bonehead bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use Lush’s single use bubble bars.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

The one thing that I love about Lush’s bubble bars over their bath bombs is that they can be easily spread out over several baths. With Bonehead being quite a big bubble bar, you can easily get 2 (possibly 3) heavily bubbled bubble baths out of it.

It’s very good value for money as a very small amount goes an incredibly long way, I’ve not seen a bubble bar from Lush with this much bubble potential for quite some time!

Splitting the Bonehead bubble bar into several different baths didn’t compromise on its scent-quality at all and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the blanket of fluffy white bubbles started to form while running my bath. Underneath the blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns a milky white.

A Bonehead bubble-bar-bath leaves your skin feeling silky-smooth and perfectly hydrated. A lot of the thanks for this is down its sea-salt addition. Its minty scent lasts on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day after bathing in it too, something that minty scented products don’t always manage to achieve.

Overall, I am glad Lush released this. It’s nice to try something a little different from the spicy and pumpkin based products that you ordinarily associate this time of year with.
