Kiss Me Quick Wash Card from Lush

Kiss Me Quick Wash CardThe Kiss Me Quick Wash Card is a brand new product that is a part of the Lush 2018 Valentine’s range. If you remember last years line up, you’ll probably be familiar with the ‘Kiss Me Quick’ name. This Kiss Me Quick wash card is however not to be confused with last years Kiss Me Quick business wash card.

There are several of these ‘soap paper’ products available from Lush right now, you can find them in a variety of different colours and scents. That being said, the wash cards are relatively unexplored by myself. This is where I admit that I am fairly new to this type of product, I think this particular wash card is my 4th or 5th one to try? Even though I have got on really well with all of the ones I have tried previous to this, I still can’t shake away the thought that the wash cards are more of a novelty product than anything else.

Novelty product or not, the idea behind Lush’s wash cards is really clever. With it being a paper-like consistency, it weighs less than a shower gel and of course, it is ‘naked’. This in the world of Lush means a packageless product but I’m pretty sure if you are reading this, that you knew that already. Whether you think that the wash cards are a novelty or not they can prove to be a useful product when it comes down to travelling. They’re small, light and where they are not liquid, they can be taken on to planes etc.

The Kiss Me Quick wash card is roughly about the size of my hand making it a lot bigger than the Kiss me Quick business and Butterbear cards. To use the Kiss Me Quick wash card all you need to do is rip a tiny bit off of it, followed by you then getting it wet and then beginning to work it in your hands the same way as you would a soap. This creates a decent lather almost instantly, leaving it ready to use just like a liquid shower gel or hand wash.

This years Kiss Me Quick wash card has a brand new Lush scent that hasn’t featured in any other product before. When I very first opened the box full of the Valentine’s goodies it was by far the strongest scented product in the collection. Even when it was the other side of the room I could still smell it.

I always struggle to describe scents but the first word that springs to my mind to describe the Kiss Me Quick wash card is sweet. It is such an intense sweet too, it makes the likes of the Snow Fairy shower gel appear subtle.

Ingredients wise the Kiss Me Quick wash card includes mimosa, clove bud oil and tonka absolute, the clove bud oil adds a light spicy layer to the sweetness of the tonka. During use the scent does become more subtle which is its saving grace for me. If its scent was just as strong or even stronger during use I know I wouldn’t like it, its scent fresh out of the box really is an intense one to say the least.

After use my skin feels super smooth and remarkably hydrated which I did not expect from a wash card at all. The scent lingers on your skin for a few hours after using but at a much more friendlier level (for my nose anyway). Although the wash cards won’t ever replace my shower gels or creams they are worth having a few around just in case. For example I always have one in my purse because you never know when you may need some soap to wash your hands etc. Obviously the whole of the Kiss Me Quick wash card doesn’t all fit into my purse but split in half, it’s perfect and keeps my purse smelling crazy-fresh.

I thought of doing something a little bit different for this review, the Kiss Me Quick wash cards have become the number 1 selfie-prop of the Valentine’s season. I wanted to share a few of them with you all so this explains the photos below. I’m still waiting on a few more people to send theirs over to me (I will add them to this post when they do) but for now, here are some of the ones that I have received. A big thank you to all that took part, I have linked all of their Instagram accounts at the end of this post, please go give all of them a follow!

Love Boat Bath Bomb from Lush

As soon as the 2018 Lush Valentine products were revealed I knew that the Love Boat Bath Bomb would be the first one I grabbed. As you can see from the above photo this bath bomb is designed in the shape of a dinky-little boat. Designed to be mostly blue and pink, it has blue edges and a blue roof. Staying true to the Valentine’s theme, its front is decorated with a bright pink love heart and underneath it, it has a yellow under belly that is decorated with love hearts that are very similar to the mini stars found within the Rocket Science and Golden Wonder bath bombs.

I have actually seen various prototypes of this bath bomb from its creator on Instagram, when you’re as obsessed as I am with Lush, seeing their product-thought-processes and their ideas slowly come to life is all a part of the Lush fun. From what I have seen from them, it appears that the Love Boat bath bomb much like the Mum bath bomb could have also been released in several different colours, it however wasn’t and although I know most people like a variety of colours, I think Lush made the right choice, the way the pink and blue clash together makes the boat design really stand out, the pink heart on the boats front is what makes it a Love Boat instead of just a bog standard one. I am unsure if another coloured heart would have had the same effect!

Above is a picture of the top and bottom of the Love Boat bath bomb. It shares its scent with the bath bomb I mentioned earlier on in this post, Mum. Containing Sicilian lemon, sweet orange and rose oil its scent is a zesty and floral affair. The Sicilian lemon and sweet orange oil dominate most of the other ingredients in the Love Boat, it does however still have a floral element to it which gives it a soft musky layer. I find its scent uplifting, refreshing and cheery.

Once Love Boat is in the water you are immediately greeted with a burst of colourful foam, blue and pink foam erupts from the Love Boat bath bomb, as does a light streak of yellow foam from its bottom, underwater layer. Although it didn’t charge around the bath quite like I had thought it would (with it being a boat) it did float the whole time and the scent stayed throughout the whole of my bath time too.

Once the Love Boat has fully dissolved you are left with soft, frosty pink bath water. The rose oil in it makes it a very soothing experience for Winter frazzled skin. After a good soak in a Love Boat bath I feel revived and refreshed. Although it was the product from the 2018, Valentine’s collection that I was most eager to try I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did.

Love Boat was most certainly a hit with me, it smells and looks beautiful and it also creates stunning bath art too. I will admit to being disappointed that the Cupid bath bomb didn’t make a return this year, Love Boat has however helped ease the disappointment. I just love the whole idea of it, a love boat is right where I’d like to be right now, (seeing as I’m not) the bath bomb alternative will more than suffice!

Once Upon A Time Naked Body Lotion from Lush

Once Upon A Time Naked Body LotionLast year (2017) Lush jam packed their shelves and online stock space with brand new, packageless ‘naked’ products. They created naked shower gels, naked shower creams, naked body conditioners and even naked lip scrubs. The Once Upon A Time Naked Body Lotion was also a new Lush invention from 2017, no other Lush body lotion had ever been made into a solid/naked form before, this meant the Once Upon A Time naked body lotion had a lot riding on its shoulders.

I got on really well with the potted version of Once Upon A Time body lotion so thought I’d give the naked version a go too. Although there’s a small piece of me that wishes Lush would just continue to sell body lotions and shower gels in pots and bottles, I can understand and appreciate the reasons as to why Lush are working towards creating naked everything. The world is at bursting point with plastic waste and if naked cosmetic products make even a little difference to our environment then it’s worth at least giving the naked products a try.

The Once Upon A Time naked body lotion is a proud member of the So White, Lush-scent-family. Both the naked and potted versions smell just as refreshing and crisp as the So White bath bomb. The sweet scent of fresh apples will always be welcome in my bathroom whatever the products format.

Apart from the obvious there really isn’t much difference between the potted and naked Once Upon A Time body lotions. Just like the potted Once Upon A Time, the naked Once Upon A Time goes a very long way. Instead of scooping lotion out and working it into your skin, you instead grab the green block of body lotion and work it into the parts of your body that are looking for a boost of hydration. The naked version works just as well as the potted version, the only significant difference is that I find the naked version slightly more oily. All this really means is that the naked version takes a little longer to soak in to your skin compared to the potted version.

I admit that storing the naked products is a little difficult due to it being packageless. It not being in a pot does however have its practical as well as ethical advantages too. Especially if you’re like me and have bad hands (therefore not being able to open lids easily). I am currently storing my naked Lush products on a rack in a bathroom cupboard. The naked products that come into contact with water such as the shower gels and body conditioners, will need to be left out to dry before storing them away in a closed box or cupboard etc BUT the Once Upon A Time naked body lotion is however fine to go straight onto the rack after use.

I feel like I should also add that they need to be stored somewhere slightly cooler than room temperature too, just like Lush massage bars the naked body lotion and conditioners do begin to melt if left somewhere warm enough. The naked and potted versions of Once Upon A Time are both great, they each have their own strong points but both give the same results upon use. Right now I still feel as if I favour the potted products but just from a practical point. I’m never very good with change and I’ve grown to love Lush’s little black pots with their funky white text. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but I believe Lush will be pushing naked products further and further this year so I’m keeping an open mind and giving them all a go.
