The Perle De Sel Bath Bomb is brand new to Lush this year, it’s a part of the limited edition, Winter 2018 line and I can report form hear-say that it has been widely enjoyed throughout the community so far. Perle De Sel is a member of the Snow Cake scent-family sharing its fragrance with the very popular but as of this Winter, discontinued Snow Angel bath melt.

I’m not a huge fan of Lush’s Snow Cake fragrance, the easiest way to describe it is marzipan-sweet. Although I knew the scent of Perle De Sel wouldn’t blow me away, I still wanted to try it because there is nothing quite like a brand new Lush bath bomb. I didn’t need much persuasion visually either, as you can see from the photos it’s a product that is very easy on the eye.

Perle De Sel contains benzoin resinoid, cassie and rose absolute. Alongside those is also a copious amount of skin-softening sea salt. Perle De Sel translates from French into English as ‘Salt Pearl’. Once I learnt this, Perle De Sels design and all of its ingredients made sense. What I like most about Perle De Sel is its unique, shimmery-gold decorated top – the pearls!

Perle De Sel is the standard, round bath-bomb-shape. It’s an offish-white colour and could easily be mistaken as the Dragon’s Egg or original So White bath bomb by those not very familiar with Lush products. Described on Lush’s website as ‘not just any Christmas bath bomb’ and the ‘epitome of decadence and class’ Perle De Sel radiates everything I associate pearls with. Royalty, Luxury and Glamour galore.

Once Perle De Sel hits the bath water its sickly-sweet marzipan scent softens somewhat. As someone who isn’t a lover of marzipan this pleased me a great deal. I can imagine this not being ideal for anyone who is a Snow Cake super fan though. Its scent is by all means still present, it is however a much more subtle fragrance and is no where near as strong as the scent given by the aforementioned Snow Angel bath melt.

Slowly but surely Perle De Sel fizzles away, bobbing around in your bath water leaving a stream of tiny bubbles. Its shimmery gold top spreads a burst of sparkle into the water and is shortly followed by an explosion of turquoise blue. I wasn’t expecting such pretty bath art from what I thought was going to be a fairly colourless bath bomb.

Once dissolved Perle De Sel leaves your water a pearlescent blue. It is very similar to the waters left behind by the Frozen bath bomb but it is a much more subtle, pastel shade of blue.

Part way through the bath bombs performance it did unfortunately sink, this was however expected by me as all products with sea salt in are much heavier. The likes of Big Blue and the Geo Phyzz bath bombs both do the same. The excess sea salt is however so good for your skin as it not only softens your skin but cleanses your pores deeply too.

Even though the Perle De Sel bath bomb did sink I did manage to get a couple of colourful photographs. What it doesn’t give us in bath art it well makes up for with its skin nourishing properties.

Its scent although hard to detect, did stay on my skin for a good few hours after using it. I’d go as far as to say I actually really like the subtle scent it left. Something I never imagined, considering I despise marzipan and all of the other Snow Cake scented Lush products (that I have tried so far anyway). It just goes to show that some products are worth giving a go, even if you’re not sure on it, you may just end up with a new favourite!

When I found out that Lush were bringing out a Halloween soap that not only glows in the dark (see below photo) but also shares its scent with the Avobath bath bomb, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

When the Ghost in the Dark Soap arrived on my doorstep I was pleasantly surprised at how big it was, it fits more than snuggly in my hand. I was also very pleased with how much it mirrored the aforementioned bath bombs scent, Avobath. With my eyes closed I’m not sure I could tell them apart in a sniff test!

As Lush products go, I know the soaps aren’t always the most interesting items that Lush have to offer. With the Ghost in the Dark soap having the ability to glow in the dark, a whole new level of fun has come to a no-longer-simple bar of soap. The first question everyone asks when they realise that this bar of soap actually really does glow in the dark is, ‘HOW?!!’

The magic ingredient is called luminescent zinc sulfide. I was going to do a whole paragraph on it but then I remembered who I was and how bad I was at Chemistry at school, I have therefore linked up to Lush’s website (here) as I think it would be better all round to let the experts explain the science behind it.

Rich with mood and energy boosting ingredients such as lemongrass and bergamot oils, a quick wash with a bar of Ghost in the Dark will banish away any early morning fatigue you may be feeling; Sharpening your senses and leaving you alert and ready to face the day.

Although I have only used this soap on my hands so far, (I don’t normally use bars of soap anywhere else as my skin is notoriously fussy) it does lather very quickly and it’s really hydrating too, something I never expect from a bar of soap as they normally dry my skin out.

Overall I think the Ghost in the Dark soap is a fantastic addition to Lush’s Halloween line. It has certainly helped me get through the darker Winter mornings, I have also used it several times now and although it has shrunk a tiny bit, I can see it’s going to last for quite some time making it excellent value for money.

The fact it glows in the dark adds a novelty factor to it too, I imagine this has helped it sell as it’s quite the unique selling point!

I have very much enjoyed exploring the Avobath scent in the soap format. I have my fingers crossed that Lush use this scent again very soon as it really is a life saver in the mornings when you’re feeling groggy.

The World’s Smallest Disco Bath Bomb from Lush

Although it isn’t obvious upon first glance, it is in fact a product from Lush’s Winter collection. I decided to start my Winter reviews with the, The World’s Smallest Disco bath bomb as it’s a product that doesn’t scream the C word; CHRISTMAS.

I have heard some people say a lot of this years Winter line isn’t Christmassy enough, I’m afraid I’m on team Scrooge and disagree, Winter is about so much more than just Christmas, Autumn too. The less Christmassy the better for me, especially when it’s only just turned October… There’s plenty of time for all things Christmas once we reach December!

Over the last few years Lush have designed and released several black coloured products, in 2017 we were introduced to the brand new Secret Arts jelly bomb and Bewitched bubble bar too. Back then myself and my very white bath were naturally wary about bathing in the darkest of black bath-water and this was the case for many others which is why I guess Lush hadn’t made many (if any), black-bathing products previously.

Regardless of my wariness, I did give both of the aforementioned black products a go and even though I thought I wouldn’t enjoy either, I in fact REALLY enjoyed both.

As you can see from the above photographs the, The World’s Smallest Disco bath bomb is yet another black product. Seeing as I had enjoyed both Secret Arts and Bewitched I had an open mind about the, The World’s Smallest Disco. It has a similar design to the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb (the multicoloured bath bomb discs that decorate it). Designed to look just like a disco ball you can’t help but feel drawn to it.

The World’s Smallest Disco bath bomb contains several uplifting and feel-good ingredients. Persian lime and grapefruit oil leave not only your skin feeling refreshed but also your mind too. Just like the Golden Wonder bath bomb, The World’s Smallest Disco also contains cognac oil, this gives its bitter citrus scent a warming edge.

I don’t like to complain but I can’t help but mention the steep price of The World’s Smallest Disco, I don’t normally go into pricing in my reviews but it’s currently available at just over £5. For £5 I want the bath bomb to sing and dance, I assume this price is because of the cognac oil as Golden Wonder has gone up in price a huge amount too. I did say in previous reviews from 2017 that I’d begrudge spending anymore than £4.95 on a single use product, I am therefore a little disappointed that this bath bomb is so expensive.

I do however completely appreciate Lush’s ethics and the fact that cruelty free ingredients do cost more to source etc, I am just a little taken back as it’s a lot more than I had expected. To warrant me buying any more it really had to be an all singing, all dancing, bath time extravaganza.

As soon as the, The World’s Smallest Disco comes into contact with the bath water there is an explosion of silver/grey foam. As the bath bomb dances around your bath, spewing lime scented foam, the multicoloured bath bomb discs slowly come loose from the bath bomb, just as the ones in Luxury Lush Pud do. Once it’s fully dissolved you are left with pitch black bath water decorated with multicoloured dots. It reminds me of a starry nights sky on a clear night, (if stars were multicoloured anyway.)

The scent of the bath bomb diminishes somewhat after it’s dissolved and doesn’t last the whole bath. A soak in a World’s Smallest Disco bath does however leave my skin feeling soft and refreshed, which is a trait I really like a bath bomb to have. At the end of the bath it also all went down the plug hole with no fuss. There was no mess at all, as long as your bath is clean and doesn’t have any soap scum on it prior to using this bath bomb you’ll be fine, even with its dark colour.

Overall I did thoroughly enjoy using this bath bomb, the price does however put me off a little, it’s one I would like to use again but will be saving for special occasions only because of how expensive it is.
