Wash Behind Your Ears Shower Gel from Lush

I always get ridiculously over excited when a new Lush shower gel or cream is released. Shower gels don’t have as much wow factor as the Lush bath bombs do and I think that’s what makes me like them so much.

When I first got into Lush I ignorantly focused all of my attention on to the bath bombs and bubble bars, it wasn’t until I had explored those products that I began to crave more.

It wasn’t long until all of the scents and colours of the bath bomb and bubble bars had completely seduced me leaving me wanting anything and everything Lush… Enter Lush shower gel!

My very first Lush shower gel was Twilight. Our pairing obviously went off with a bang and ever since I’ve sought after every Lush shower gel I can get my hands on. This Easter (2017) Lush decided to bring out a limited edition, brand new shower gel called Wash Behind Your Ears.

Wash Behind Your Ears Shower Gel

The Wash Behind Your Ears Shower Gel is a bold and very bright orange fitting in perfectly with the Springtime and Easter holidays. What has surprised so many people about it is that it, (just like the Flopsy face wash jelly) contains carrot infusion.

Unfortunately I have heard very mixed reviews on Wash Behind Your Ears, some have said its scent is dull, others say it just smells like carrot. I have also heard that its texture is more creamy than most shower gels. Do I agree with any of the above statements? Yes I do – but not all of them!

Wash Behind Your Ears does have a very creamy texture in comparison to some of Lush’s other shower gels, I however find that it lathers up very quickly which is the opposite trait to most Lush shower creams. What I find most satisfying about its texture is that the smallest amount seems to go a very long way. Although most people tend to overindulge with the liquid products, squeezing out more than they actually need you really do not need to do this with Wash Behind Your Ears. I can see one 250g bottle of it lasting me for more than 6 months with everyday use.

Dull is the wrong word to describe its scent, it’s not as attention grabbing or dominant as the likes of Plum Rain or Snow Fairy but it isn’t dull. Subtle is a more accurate way of describing its scent. It actually has quite a soft floral air about it and I personally cannot identify any carrot. It does however have a root vegetable element to its scent, one that reminds me of prepared, raw root vegetables such as the parsnip. I have only ever thought this about one other product and that was the Magic bath bomb.

I get that my use of the word ‘parsnip’ may put some people off, as the thought of rubbing parsnips all over your body isn’t very exciting at all. Please don’t be put off by my comparison though, root veg vibes or no root veg vibes with its added floral undertones the scent really does work. If you’re a Lushie that prefers the softer scents Wash Behind Your Ears may just be the perfect shower gel for you.

Although Wash Behind Your Ears didn’t woo me in quite the same way as the Hot Toddy shower gel did, I didn’t dislike it. I also do not think it deserves the amount of negative attention that it got, it is a very efficient shower gel that brightens and refreshes my skin  with long lasting effects. I wouldn’t miss it if it didn’t come back again but I did buy an extra bottle to keep in my Lush storage!

Butterball Shower Gel from Lush

img_8652
Regrettably I only got into the Butterball products last year (2016). I am now however well and truly making up for it as every time a Butterball product becomes available I snap it up.

The Butterball Shower Gel is the thickest shower gel I have tried from Lush Cosmetics. Its consistency resembles more of a shower cream. It is however, much stockier than Lush shower creams, I can completely understand why some confuse it with a body butter or shower smoothie.

The Butterball shower gel shares its scent with the Butterball bath bomb. In my opinion they aren’t exactly the same, the shower gel is a lot more chocolatey than the bath bomb equivalent. Despite this, both are products I like and would recommend.bbb123The Butterball scent always reminds me of Christmas, this is because of the Butterbear bath bomb. Butterbear is identical to the Butterball bath bomb the only difference being its shape and weight. For the last few years Butterbear has been a very popular Christmas-time Lush product, it was the first product I tried in the Butterball scent and I guess this is why I associate the scent with Christmas.

I find that the smallest blob of the shower gel goes a very long way especially when used alongside hot-as-you-can-stand-it water.

My skin adores Butterball and because of this I always go back for seconds. If I have used the shower gel I do not need to moisturise after getting out of the shower or bath. It leaves my skin perfectly hydrated, soft and smelling of chocolate chip, shortbread biscuits.butterball group.pngMy other half seems to like it a lot too, he would never admit it but I can always tell when he does take a shine to one of my shower gels, they run out at such a ridiculous rate when he does. I know I said I go back for seconds when it comes to the Butterball shower gel but I honestly use such a small amount as it’s all you need.

He has no idea of how precious some Lush products are, Butterball is only available in the Lush Kitchen so I can’t just grab another bottle, he isn’t even that much bigger than me yet in just one shower he manages to use triple the amount I would do. He obviously can’t get enough of it, I think it is one of his secret favourites for sure.

The last thing I’d like to point out is how versatile Butterball shower gel is, it works well alongside so many other Lush products making it a very good ingredient to add to any Lush cocktails you may have in mind. It is because of this, its beautiful scent and its skin loving ingredients that makes the Butterball shower gel an essential product in my bathroom.

Rose Jam Shower Gel from Lush

rose-jam-shower-gel

Rose Jam shower gel is a golden oldie. It returns year in, year out and its scent can be found in a vast number of Lush’s best selling products.

The Rose Jam scent was the first scent I came across in Lush that I realised also featured in a number of their other products…

The Rose Jam shower gels scent also features in the Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar, Pearl massage bar and the Rose Jam bubbleroon. Those 3 products are currently available all year through so if you want to try out the scent before you invest in a shower gel, go give them a sniff. I recommend all 3 and speak very highly of them all.
Rose Jam Shower Gel EXTRA.pngRose Jam shower gel is a deep red. It reminds me of raspberry jam although its shade of red is a little lighter. I actually grew to love the scent through a Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar. The name ‘Rose Jam’ initially put me off as I ignorantly associated rose scents with older people. I turned my nose up at the bubbleroon without even giving it a chance. The first time that Rose Jam shower gel became available to me I however ordered a 100g bottle as I really liked the Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar.

Once it was in my hands I instantly regretted ordering the smallest size, 100g of this beautiful shower gel is not enough and it will never be enough. Always buy more rather than less.

Although Rose Jam is a floral rose scent, it also has other depths making it more desirable to me. Alongside the rose and argan oil there is a slight hint of musky-sweet vanilla mixed with lemon giving it a sweet and zingy edge.rosejammixIt is quite a thick gel, (the perfect consistency in my eyes) and it lathers up well, the smallest amount of it goes a long way and I often use it as a shampoo as well as, as a shower gel.

My boyfriend loves it just as much as me which is a pain in the bum as it is limited edition.

If you want to try it get some now as it won’t be around after Christmas.

The scent stays with you all day after using it. If I had the Rose Jam liquid perfume I’d spray it in my hair too, spreading the Rose Jam scent that little bit more as I think it’s beautiful. It compliments absolutely everyone no matter the occasion.
