Mr Sandman Dusting Powder from Lush

Mr Sandman Dusting Powder is yet another brand new Twilight scented product that has been welcomed with open arms by the Lush community.

I am a little disappointed that it appears to have replaced my all time favourite festive dusting powder, First Snow. I am however always more than happy to try a new Lush product and even more so when it is Twilight scented!

If you have read any of my previous reviews on the other various Twilight scented products, you’d know that the Twilight bath bomb was the very first bath bomb that I tried from Lush. I of course became bath bomb bonkers on first use and just under four years later, here I still am raving about it.

When I first got into Lush I had no idea that their products even had scent families. I just thought that the Twilight bath bomb was lavender scented. I had no idea of the complexity of ingredients chosen to go into each and every single product that Lush have on offer.

Mr Sandman’s scent family happens to be one of the biggest sellers for Lush. This is reflected in the huge amount of Twilight scented products that they have created.

This year in particular, Lush have well and truly spoilt the Twilight fans with lots of new, never before released items. We have had the Twilight Shower Jelly in the Lush Kitchen and right now the Twilight and Luxury Lush Pud bath bombs are available to purchase as are the Sleepy body lotion and the Mr Sandman dusting powder. They have even re-released the much loved Twilight shower gel for the festive period in their flagship store in London, Oxford Street.

I’d say that the majority of newbie Lushies do not have any idea on the amount of products they actually do. When you say ‘Lush Cosmetics,’ the first thing that people say is ‘Oh the bath bomb shop?’ Once you’re hooked on the bath bombs that’s when you begin to explore what other products they have.

Mr Sandman is a dusting powder and is used in the same way as a talcum powder, it is applied all over the body after washing and/or moisturising or for a quick refresh in between.

Its purpose is to absorb your skin’s excess oils while also adding an extra layer of fragrance to your skin. After applying Mr Sandman my skin is not only fragranced with the Twilight scent but is also smooth to the touch. It makes your skin feel silky soft and works wonders in areas of your body that are prone to sometimes get excessively sweaty such as under your boobs. Although it’s not an antiperspirant it does help keep sweat away for a little longer than when you go without.

Some people may be put off by Mr Sandman as it does have a small amount of lustre in. Back when I first got in to Lush I was a lustre sceptic I however now know that it’s really nothing to worry about. It’s the same type of shimmer that you’d find in make up such as a highlighter or bronzer. It adds a slight gleam to your skin and I honestly don’t even notice if a product has it in or not anymore, either way it doesn’t bother me.

Pairing Mr Sandman up with Lush’s other new Twilight scented product Sleepy Body Lotion is a force to be reckoned with, this simple Lush cocktail aids restful sleep that makes Maleficent’s sleeping curse look weak.

The carefully selected ingredients that lull you into a relaxed state of mind, which in turn aids restful sleep are lavender, chamomile, tonka absolute and ylang ylang. Although I can’t give Mr Sandman or Sleepy all of the credit, every time I have used them both together, I have been able to drop off to sleep much quicker and easier, which is a huge deal for me considering that I had previously struggled to fall asleep full stop.

Over all I am very impressed with the Mr Sandman dusting powder, I was a little shocked at its high price however now I have used it I know it is worth every penny.

Over and Over Bath Bomb from Lush

The Over and Over Bath Bomb was one of the few exclusive products available to buy at the Lush showcase back in September.

I was incredibly flattered to be invited to the biggest Lush event that has ever happened.

It really was an amazing day, everywhere I looked made my head spin with excitement, it was such a fantastic experience and one I will never, ever forget.

I will never be able to express my full gratitude to the Lush Kitchen for sending me the invite. All I know is, it was FABULOUS and I’d do every last bit of it all again, heatwave and all!

At the showcase there were so many new products that I didn’t even realise that the Over and Over bath bomb was different from the Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb. When I did realise I decided to grab another. Everything else I got only one of.

When I got home and had some time to process all that had happened at the showcase, as well as the hype around the Over and Over bath bomb, I was ridiculously smug that I had bought 2!

Just like the legendary, mass hysteria creating Roller bath bomb, Over and Over has caused quite the stir within the Lush community. I thought at the time of the showcase that it would be available in all stores or at Oxford Street throughout the winter but at the point of writing this it has only ever been available to the general public at the 2016 Lush Showcase.

It was however announced last week that the Over and Over bath bomb would be released in the Lush Kitchen on Thursday the 10th of November 2016, I will most certainly be ordering some and if you want to as well, get online on the above date ASAP as I can guarantee they will sell out within minutes.

From Left to Right, Never Mind the Ballistics, Roller and Over and Over bath bomb

Designed in the same way as the Roller and Never Mind the Ballistics, the Over and Over bath bomb is in fact half bath bomb, half bath melt.

The top half of an Over and Over bath bomb is dipped in a waxy-like orange melt leaving the rest of it exposed, the rest is yellow in colour.

Unfortunately many of the meltable products suffered at the creative showcase because of the September heatwave. It was sad to see but the two Over and Overs that I picked up (apart from looking a bit disheveled) still worked ok in the bath.

Once placed in the bath water the Over and Over bath bomb creates a mass of thick and fluffy yellow foam. It soon begins to dance around the bath water, rolling and moving in exactly the same way as the Roller bath bomb does.

As the foam hisses away, floating on top of the bath water the Over and Over scent really hits you.

It isn’t long until you see that the Over and Over bath bomb has pink insides. The yellow, orange and pink colour spilling out of the bath bomb clash so well together, creating mesmerising bath art that you just can’t take your eyes off.

It’s hard to believe that so much vivid colour could come out of a cosmetic bathing product.

Performance wise, the Over and Over bath bomb could easily be confused with the likes of the, The Enchanter bath bomb.

The Over and Over bath bomb has a lemony-lime-citrus scent that reminds me of Lemsip.

I didn’t realise the connection until my boyfriend pointed it out. I hate Lemsip and I could have punched him there and then for putting the idea into my head.

I really didn’t want to associate such a great product with something that reminds me of the flu but once a comparison is made to a scent, I can never forget it.

* has flashback to when he also said that the Snow Angel bath melt smelt like cow’s poop* I haven’t been able to use it since…

Fortunately for the Over and Over bath bomb I have decided that I quite like its scent, it is just the taste of Lemsip that I dislike so much. As long as I’m not made to eat the bath bomb or drink the bath water I’m okay!

It’s scent is incredibly refreshing and warming all at the same time. It is a very crispy fruit scent that alerts yet relaxes my senses.

Due to the bath bomb being dipped in orange melt the Over and Over bath bomb is extremely moisturising. I always panic when I see so much melt, this bath bomb however got the melt and bath bomb ratio perfect.

My skin smelt lovely and felt refreshed for several hours after getting out of an Over and Over bath.
img_1173

The only negative thing I want to say about the Over and Over bath bomb is how much it looks like the Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb once it is in the bath.

Both bath bombs are mostly yellow, Never Mind the Ballistics is however dipped in pink melt and Over and Over is dipped in orange. Once in the bath, looking back on photographs I can’t really tell the difference between the two.

I think maybe they should have made the Over and Over bath bomb green and blue? green because of the lime oil and blue because I believe it clashes well with green. The pattern it would create would be very interesting.

Although they do look the same once in the bath, the scent however makes it very easy to identify the 2 from each other, I just wish they invented Smell-o-gram so that everyone could appreciate its scent through my blog.

Over all, (no pun intended) I really do like the Over and Over bath bomb, so much so that I hope they bring it out as a permanent store product rather than just a one off.

Snowie Bubble Bar from Lush

snowie-bubble-bar

Now that winter is in full swing I have to pull my socks up to review all of the new Christmas stock starting with one of my favourites so far, the Snowie bubble bar. I am still not ready for Christmas decorations but Lush Christmas stock is always VERY WELCOME!

Last year’s winter seemed to last forever… I can’t quite believe how fast this one is going.

Halloween has been and gone, October was a blink and you missed it month. Where did all the time go?

When I found out that Lush were bringing out a Frozen scented bubble bar this winter I was so, so excited. Although Snowie is slightly odd looking according to some, I can’t help but love him and on first sight all I wanted to do was grab every single Snowie Bubble Bar, ready to take them home.
post1123.png
The first time I came across the Lush scent that is Frozen was in the Frozen bath bomb, back then it was a Lush Oxford Street exclusive and I had to ask my friends and  family to post me them by the gallon.

Frozen was for a very long time my favourite Lush scent, it still is one of my favourites I have however collected a few more faves along the way.

The grapefruit and neroli oil used in the Snowie bubble bar work beautifully together. Neroli oil is actually scientifically proven to increase the levels of serotonin in the brain, AKA the happy hormone. The bubble bar’s scent is both refreshing and uplifting, paired with a Frozen bath bomb it makes one crazy, good bath cocktail.

Snowie was designed as a tribute to the late David Bowie, even those that aren’t a fan of his can see the link. What an icon he was, every time I see the bubble bar a David Bowie song starts in my head… Which is a nice change from the Frozen bath bomb’s ‘Let it Go!’

The smallest amount of Snowie creates mounds and mounds of fluffy white bubbles. The water underneath those bubbles isn’t very colourful, it appears quite milky white which isn’t a bad thing at all.

The water becomes so much softer and hydrates my dry, winter-tired skin beautifully.

Sometimes too many bubbles annoy me because of all of the popping going on, I however feel like I can lay back and relax in a Snowie bath, its scent is just so relaxing and lifts bad moods, helping me feel cool, calm and content.

Don’t be put of by its smaller size either. I manage to get 3 very overindulgent, bubble baths out of just the one.

I hope they bring this bubble bar back again next year as I think it’s a wonderful addition to the Frozen scent family, a Frozen shower gel or jelly to pair with it next year would make it even better… HINT, HINT @Lush 😉
