Melusine Bath Bomb from Lush

The Melusine Bath Bomb is probably my favourite out of the 12 community bath bombs that the Lush Kitchen released back in November 2018. Sharing its scent with one of my favourite releases that also came out last year the Avocado Wash shower gel, I was very excited to get a hold of its bath bomb equivalent.

Melusine is the French word for a fresh water mermaid, this caught my attention straight away as I have always been fascinated with mythology and mermaids in particular. When I first heard its name I thought it was going to be an adaptation of the Mermaid bath bomb, I was however very wrong!

Melusine has a very unique design, it is several different shades of green and yellow and has been made to look like it has fish scales.

Melusine also has a very generous helping of shimmering lustre that is made out of a mix of naturally-occurring minerals and seaweed (it’s not plastic!) the lustre in Melusine is a lot chunkier than what I’m used to from Lush too BUT it rinses away just as easily as the lustre in other shimmery products such as the Intergalactic bath bomb.

Containing bergamot, litsea cubeba, olibanum and sea salt Melusine is a treat for your skin, eyes, nose, mind and soul. If you normally grab an Avobath bath bomb for an energy boost then Melusine would really appeal to you.

Melusine’s blend of bergamot, olibanum and lemony litsea cubeba make for one of the most awakening bath bombs yet. Its scent is crazy refreshing, cheery and super-duper zesty. I just can’t get enough of it.

As soon as the Melusine bath bomb touches your bath water an eruption of green and yellow bubbles explode out of it. Its beautiful scent slowly fills your bathroom as it bobs around the waters surface.

Melusine’s presentation and scent aren’t the only things that impress me about this bath bomb either, the bath art it creates is exquisite, so much so that I couldn’t stop taking photos. Delicate swirls of green and yellow spiral out of it as it dances around, it really is mesmerising.

Inside the Melusine bath bomb, much like the Geo Phyzz and Big Blue bath bombs is a generous helping of sea salt. The sea salt makes the Melusine bath bomb particularly good at helping with any muscular pains you may have, all while also brightening the skin and boosting your blood circulation.

Normally the Lush bath bombs that contain sea salt often sink straight to the bottom of the bath tub slowly changing the waters colour from the bottom up. Melusine however surprised me by floating the whole time!

The Melusine bath bombs scent lasted through out the entire duration of my bath which really pleased my nose. Once I was out of the bath Melusines scent was also still detectable on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

Just a 15 minute soak in a Melusine bath leaves my skin feeling soft and leaves its appearance positively refreshed and hydrated.

The only thing I am unsure about in regards to the Melusine bath bomb is its hefty price, I understand ethically sourced ingredients cost a little more but for a single use product it is very expensive, for me this sadly makes Melusine a product I will only be using on special occasions.

Overall I am however very, very impressed with the Melusine bath bomb, I really do hope that Lush make it a permanent store product in the UK soon as it really is a brilliant bath bomb, I’d go as far as to say that it is actually high up on my list of favourite bath bombs!

NEW Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb from Lush

Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb

The Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb never fails to be a part of Lush’s Christmas line, year in year out it returns, ready and waiting to fill our bathrooms with a rainbow of bright and happy colours. Up until its Winter 2018 release, the pink and white Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb had always shared its scent with the Twilight bath bomb. I often referred to it as the Twilight bath bomb’s super cool and very cute auntie.

Every year I always look forward to stocking up on the Luxury Lush Pud, I find peace of mind ensuring that I have plenty to see me through until the following Christmas. This year Lush however decided to throw a very unexpected curve ball, they changed the Luxury Lush Puds scent completely. 2018’s Luxury Lush Pud now shared its scent with The Comforter bubble bar instead.

Although I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be getting any fresh Twilight scented  Luxury Lush Pud bath bombs any more, I do enjoy the, The Comforter scent and having craved for other products in its scent since Lush discontinued its shower cream counterpart, I welcomed the new Luxury Lush Pud with open arms.

The Twilight scented Luxury Lush Pud is and always will be a Lush classic BUT after a nice, long soak in the waters of the new Luxury Lush Pud, I am still left feeling just as warm, snug and relaxed as I did when using the older version. Its change in scent hasn’t taken away from its charm at all either. – The bath art it creates is just as beautiful as the bath art created by the others from all of the Winters before.

Instead of its lavender ingredients the Luxury Lush Pud now contains mood brightening bergamot, cypress and cassis oil. This well thought out blend of ingredients gives the bath bomb a very distinctive blackcurrant fragrance. The Comforter scent is often compared to getting a big and very loving hug and that’s exactly how I feel when I am submerged in Comforter scented bath water.

Not only do you benefit from its beautiful and very berrylicious scent, hours and hours after using it, you also get soft, smooth and gloriously hydrated skin too. There is something about the Luxury Lush Pud that always leaves me wanting more. The photos speak for themselves. It is a very slow fizzer leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy or capture on camera, the bath art it creates!

Overall I am very impressed with this new version of the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb. It did take me a short while to get over its scent change – after years of using it with a completely different scent it was bound to confuse my senses ever so slightly, my brain and nose needed a little extra time to adjust BUT it didn’t take them long to do so. I’m not normally one to favour change either, the Comforter scent however really does suit the Luxury Lush Pud and all of its pretty colours.

The bath art is as I mentioned above, still just as phenomenal as the bath art created by its bath bomb ancestors. I was even lucky enough to grab several of the Luxury Lush Pud bath bombs in the Boxing Day sale last week, therefore I won’t be running out of them any time soon. I predict lots of fruity, colourful baths in my very near future!

Avocado Wash Shower Gel from Lush

Avocado Wash Shower Gel

As soon as I heard that the Avocado Wash Shower Gel was a part of this years Lush Valentine’s Day range I ordered the biggest bottle available. I hate to give the game away so early on in a review but this shower gel is quite simply, gorgeous! When the shower gel first came out as a Kitchen exclusive last year (2018) I only ordered one bottle and after first use I instantly regretted not ordering several more.

I left my one and only bottle of Avocado Wash shower gel on my bathroom shelf; BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. The second time I grabbed it ready to use I was horrified to discover that the shower gel bottle was half empty. I had only used it once so knew exactly who to blame for its sudden and rapid disappearance – my husband. He is a glass half full kind of person whereas I am a glass half empty one.

I was not impressed. Luckily a few days later more of the shower gels became available on the Lush website, my husband ordered 3 more bottles to say sorry for being so selfish and greedy. I forgave him but am still a little bit mad that he’d used up half of a bottle over just 3 showers, it’s such a waste of product. I’m known to over indulge with Lush but my husband took it to the next level!

I want to warn everyone about this shower gels addictiveness, a little of this shower gel does in fact go a very long way and there really is no reason other than being driven completely crazy by its irresistible scent, to use as much as my husband did in such a short space of time.

The Avocado Wash shower gel shares its scent with the Avocado Co-Wash shampoo and conditioner. Its scent has always been one that I have liked but unfortunately the shampoo and conditioner doesn’t suit my hair so I only ever tried it the one time. I was therefore over the moon at the prospect of a shower gel equivalent.

The Avocado Wash shower gel contains copious amounts of fresh avocado, uplifting bergamot, refreshing litsea cubeba and the comforting olibanum oil too. It’s the perfect blend of ingredients if you’re running a little low on energy or sass, there is just something so rejuvenating about it. Its scent is one of the most refreshing and awakening fruity scents Lush have made and I’m so excited that they’ve recently released several more Avocado Wash scented products that I will be reviewing very soon.

Consistency wise the Avocado Wash shower gel is a little runny but this isn’t a negative aspect at all, I actually prefer the runnier shower gels in comparison to the thicker ones. As I mentioned earlier, a little of this shower gel does go a very long way. This makes it excellent value for money (unless you live with my husband of course).

The one thing I do recommend that you do before using the Avocado Wash shower gel is giving it a good shake, like the, The Olive Branch shower gel its ingredients separate when left for too long. This is completely normal but is often mistaken as a sign of the product being out of date. In fact Avocado Wash shower gel is self-preserving so quite the opposite!

I find Avocado Wash shower gel incredibly hydrating, it leaves my skin silky smooth, bright and revitalised. Its scent can also be smelt on my skin long after using it which is a huge plus for me. It would have been a crime to leave this shower gel as only a Lush Kitchen exclusive, I’m so glad that it’s become available again even if it is only for  Valentine’s.
