Keep it Fluffy Shower Gel from Lush

The Keep it Fluffy Shower Gel was in my personal opinion the standout, star product in February 2022’s Lush Kitchen Subscription Box.

The Keep it Fluffy scent was first introduced to the world in 2004 under the B Never Too Busy to be Beautiful brand. You’ll most recently recognise it as it featured in Lush’s 2021’s Advent Calendar in perfume form.

Keep it Fluffy shower gel is a slightly darker pink than Lush’s ridiculously popular, Snow Fairy shower gel and has a perfectly thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency.

Keep it Fluffy contains a long list of carefully put together ingredients – Lemongrass infusion, jasmine flower infusion, fine sea salt, Pakistani rose, and vanilla absolutes as well as the following essential oils; lemongrass and ylang ylang.

Keep it Fluffy’s scent is an inviting, powdery vanilla with hints of lemongrass. The ylang ylang within it also adds a floral element to it too. It’s a super fun, uplifting and glamourous fragrance.

As I said earlier Keep it Fluffy’s consistency is thick but not so thick it’s hard to get out of the bottle. A small amount of it goes a very long way, and it lathers up with ease.

In use, the warmth of the hot water and steam from the shower really bring the fragrance to life, some even say that ylang ylang is a great aphrodisiac, this ties the Keep it Fluffy shower gel in with the theme of Valentine’s Day perfectly.

Once you’re out of the shower, Keep it Fluffy’s scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day, it’s a lot more subtle on your skin than when it is fresh out of the bottle but its scent is still there and just as sultry.

The inclusion of the fine sea salt in the Keep it Fluffy shower gel makes it both an excellent cleanser and very gentle exfoliant. My skin feels a lot smoother after just one shower.

I also find that it leaves my skin hydrated enough to get away with not having to moisturise my whole body after getting out of the shower too, saving me some precious time. Time being something we can all agree on needing a bit more of…

I love when Lush bring their old scent-families back to life, people that have been shopping with Lush since they first opened their doors really do appreciate the trip down memory lane that the old scents take them on. It’s also a fabulous way to introduce new customers into the scents that made Lush who they are today.

I cannot wait to see if Lush release more products in the Keep it Fluffy fragrance and I hope that once again Lush bring this shower gel out properly so that I can get a much bigger bottle! 😊

Lakes Bath Bomb from Lush

The Lakes Bath Bomb was first released by Lush as a product that was exclusive to August 2021’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. Shortly after this super-exclusive release it became a part of Lush UK’s regular line, giving more customers an opportunity to try it. At the time of writing this review it is still currently available.

Back before the Lakes was even released in the Lush Kitchen box, I read on one of Lush’s co-founders Instagram accounts that the Lakes bath bomb was inspired by a song written and performed by bestselling artist, Taylor Swift.

The Lakes bath bomb is a pretty little thing and is one of my favourite bath bomb releases from 2021. I am ecstatic that it has become a part of Lush’s permanent line. It would be a crime to have not made it more readily available for all to try.

It is a pastel green and pastel pink colour. To look at, it is very similar to (but not the same) as the charity bath bomb that was released by Lush a few years ago, Mermaid.

It is a standard shape and standard size bath bomb at 200g. There is just something about Lake’s pastel shades that make me instantly feel relaxed and refreshed. It’s plain but beautiful – sometimes less, is more.

The Lakes bath bomb was also inspired by the tranquillity of the Lake District, somewhere I have been lucky enough to visit back in my twenties. If I ever get to visit again – I’ll be sure to bring along a Lakes bath bomb.

The Lakes bath bomb has a long list of grounding and calming ingredients; labdanum resinoid, osmanthus absolute, myrrh resinoid, Siberian fir needle oil and oakmoss. Laying back in its waters really does make you feel as if you are reconnecting with nature.

The Lakes bath bomb’s scent is one I would love to have in perfume form. It’s fizzy like sherbet and both earthy and refreshing too. It’s not an easy scent to describe. The best I can come up with is that it’s like a breath of crisp, fresh air. One you’d only experience on a walk in the countryside.

As soon as you put the Lakes bath bomb into your bath water there is an explosion of green foam, as it bobs around the waters surface pink streaks begin to foam out of it too. The green and pink are both very cool shades which all adds to the tranquillity of the Lakes bathing experience.

Lakes is a slow fizzer, where its colours are of pastel shades, you don’t get any striking bath art, the colours do however create subtle light pink and green patterns. Lakes’ unique selling point is 100% its glorious scent.

As I said earlier, using it is just like you’re reconnecting with nature itself. If you shut your eyes and take a deep breath while lying in its waters it’s almost as if you’re bathing outside in the middle of a meadow, birds tweeting around you.

The Lakes bath bomb takes a good 10 minutes plus to fully dissolve. The water left behind is very similar to the water left behind by the Avobath bath bomb, however, Lakes’ water has a milkier more pearlescent finish. The water is silky smooth, my skin has never felt better after a good soak in the bath with a Lakes bath bomb.

Overall, I am a huge fan of this plain but beautiful bath bomb. I wholeheartedly stand by my earlier statement that it is one of my favourite Lush releases from 2021!

Happy for S.A.D. Shower Gel from Lush

The Happy For S.A.D. Shower Gel was first released by Lush many years ago to raise awareness for SAD. SAD is short for the mental health condition, Seasonal Affective Disorder.

SAD is a form of depression that comes and goes with the seasons. It can happen during any one of the 4 seasons but is most commonly associated with the Winter time, due to the shorter hours of daylight that we get.

I first got a hold of a bottle way back in 2014 and I liked the shower gel so much that I made sure to grab another whenever it came up on the old-style, Lush Kitchen menu.

As someone who has lived with depression since my teens it immediately caught my attention just on its name alone.

The Happy for S.A.D. shower gel contains neroli, grapefruit and Mandarin oils. All of which are uplifting, mood-boosting ingredients.

The neroli in particular is very popular in products like this as it has been scientifically proven to boost the serotonin levels in your brain (AKA the happy hormone!)

Consistency wise, the Happy for S.A.D. shower gel is a little runnier than the average Lush shower gel. A little however goes a very long way and it lathers up fairly quickly.

It’s a beautiful shade of purple which isn’t the first colour that comes to mind considering it’s ingredients. It’s similar in colour to the Twilight shower gel, which is not what I was expecting at all. From reading the ingredient list I imagined it to be more like the Happy Hippy or Bubbly shower gels.

What I really love about the Happy for S.A.D. shower gel (apart from its scent) is how it makes my skin feel. It’s one of the most skin-softening shower gels I’ve ever used from Lush. It’s delicious and a real treat for me to use, I always over indulge as I can never resist.

I also love that it’s scent lasts. Not just on your skin after use but in its bottle too. I still have one bottle of it from 2014 which has about one-fifth of the product left in it. – It still smells just as good as the day I got it. I can only apologise for not reviewing it on here sooner!

I’d love to see Lush create more products with the Happy for S.A.D. scent in the near future. It’s a truly beautiful and incredibly moreish fragrance that I can see working in so many different formats.
