Cyclops Bubble Bar from Lush

The Cyclops Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2022 Halloween line.

Living up to its name it of course has just one eye; This and its peculiar cone-shape make it a stand-out Halloween product that fits perfectly into Lush’s weird yet wonderful Halloween line!

The Cyclops bubble bar is approximately 100g, for comparison purposes the bestselling The Comforter bubble bar is 200g – twice its size. Yes, the Cyclops bubble bar may be on the smaller side, BUT if I’ve learnt anything from the hundreds of Lush products that I have tried, size doesn’t dictate the products quality.

The Cyclops bubble bar contains the following essential oils: buchu, litsea cubeba and sweet wild orange. Its scent is fairly new to Lush and is described as a ‘passion fruit’ fragrance.

It is delicious, one sniff leaves me craving a tropical cocktail.

The fruitiness of it really lifts my mood and helps me relax – holiday mode activated! It is quite a powerful fragrance in comparison to the more gentle scent of Bubble Lugosi (this years other new Halloween bubble bar) but it’s a good powerful, I always struggle to describe scents but Cyclops literally makes my mouth water.

To use the Cyclops bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it and its single candy eye, into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubble bars. This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

One of my favourite things about Lush’s bubble bars is that unlike their bath bombs, bubble bars can be spread out over several baths. I got 2 adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Cyclops bubble bar, using less didn’t hinder the quality of it at all. Thinking back I could have easily spread it out over 3 baths. It may be a small bubble bar but a little amount of it goes a very long way.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubble to form once you run Cyclops under the tap. Underneath the blanket of fluffy, white bubbles the water turns a bright and super vibrant pink.

A Cyclops bubble bath leaves your skin feeling like silk. Its captivatingly-fruity-scent also lasts on your skin for the rest of the day once you’ve got out of the bath.

Overall, I am so pleased that Lush released the Cyclops bubble bar, I’d go as far as to say it’s one of my favourites of the new bubble bars from this year.

I can see this bubble bar selling very well and I’d love to see the same scent carried out in other product formats in the not-so-distant future. Hint, hint Lush; I’d be over the moon with a bath bomb or shower gel equivalent!

Screamo Bath Bomb from Lush

The Screamo Bath Bomb is a brand-new, limited-edition product first released as a part of Lush’s 2022 Halloween line. Any horror-movie-buff can see that it is clearly inspired by the film, Scream.

It’s a bright-white screaming face with dark blue holes for its eyes and mouth and a slight imprint of a nose too.

While I was sad that the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb didn’t make a return for Halloween this year I was happy to see a much bigger Halloween line with several new bath bombs thrown in, Screamo being one of them.

Last year Lush actually released a reusable bubble bar equivalent of the Screamo bath bomb but it didn’t sell as well due to it falling apart immediately after first use, sometimes even before you’d had a chance to use it like mine did, (the reason why I never got round to reviewing it).

Even with this at the back of my mind I was still keen to give the Screamo bath bomb a go.

The Screamo bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients, some of them include; benzoin resinoid, ylang ylang and almond essential oils. It has a rich and incredibly sharp, cherry-almond scent. It’s mouth-wateringly yummy!

At 120g the Screamo bath bomb fits snuggly in my hand it’s a little bit bigger than the Butterbear bath bomb and a little bit smaller than the Ghostie bath bomb.

With Screamo’s contrasting white and royal-blue colours I knew that the bath art it would create would be dramatic to say the least.

As soon as the Screamo bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of royal-blue foam. Blue bubbles slowly fizzle out of it as the bath bomb floats upon the surface of the water.

The photos I have included in this review do the Screamo bath bomb no justice at all. While the bath art it creates is mainly blue with small streaks of white and not a rainbow of different colours, it was still incredibly mesmerising to watch as it slowly spun around, swirling gently in the water.

Underneath the blue foam, the water turns a deeply inviting, royal-blue.

As the bath bomb slowly dissolves away the bath water becomes softer and softer, almost silky like. Screamo takes a good 10 minutes to fully dissolve taking a lot longer than the other new Halloween bath bomb, Big Foot.

As I said earlier, the Screamo bath bomb creates the most incredibly soft bathwater and I found that it left my skin feeling hydrated and silky-smooth too.

The bath bombs delicious cherry-almond scent is what really wins it for me though. That moreish scent can still be smelt on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day once you’re out of the bath too.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Screamo bath bomb, the bath art wasn’t a rainbow of colours but sometimes, less really is more!

Blood Orange Shower Gel from Lush

The Blood Orange Shower Gel is a brand-new release from Lush; It is a limited-edition product that is a part of Lush’s 2022 Halloween line.

Blood Orange is a clear orange shower gel and has a thick but easy to get out of the bottle consistency. Consistency and visually wise, it is very similar to the discontinued Bubbly shower gel from past Winter lines.

Blood Orange contains a long list of ingredients; fresh orange juice and the following essential oils, organic blood orange, bergamot, davana and geranium oils. It’s a new Lush scent that I feel is fairly similar to the likes of the recently released, Mimosa shower gel.

I’m always honest in my reviews and in my opinion, the fact that the Blood Orange shower gel is so close in scent to the aforementioned Mimosa shower gel, has left me struggling to get excited about it. However, if I had to choose a favourite between Mimosa and Blood Orange, I’d pick Blood Orange because I prefer its less complicated scent.

If you enjoy Lush’s citrusy scents then I’d recommend Blood Orange, from the bottle it smells just like a freshly peeled orange but once mixed with the shower steam and hot water the blood orange ingredients’ bitterness really comes through, it’s sharp, energising and oh-so-fruity. If you’re a fan of the less in-your-face, more basic-scented-products, Blood Orange would be a good choice to go for.

Blood Orange is by no means an unpleasant shower gel but I will admit to preferring past Halloween shower gels a lot more. To me, its scent doesn’t scream Halloween in quite the same way as the Calacas and Very Very Frightening shower gels did and still do.

When it comes down to their newly released shower gels, Lush have really outdone themselves this year. As I have said in my previous 2022 shower gel reviews, Lush’s shower gel selection was in desperate need of new life and 2022 has been a brilliant year for Lush shower gels. Blood Orange isn’t my favourite from this year’s new releases,BUT I liked it enough to get a bottle of it straight after trying a sample of it from my local Lush store.

The Blood Orange shower gel lathers up easily and a very small amount of it goes a long way. As I touched upon earlier, once you start to lather it up and it mixes with the hot water and steam of the shower its scent becomes a punchy and bitter citrus-fruit-cocktail, it is zesty enough to awaken the weariest of souls! Once out of the shower its scent remains on your skin for the next few hours and it does a really good job of cleansing your skin too.

Overall, I do really like the Blood Orange shower gel, but I feel like Lush have released much better Halloween shower gels before. I’d go as far to say that I think Blood Orange would work better as a Spring-time-scent.
