Princess Peach Body Spray from Lush

At the time of writing this review, Lush’s most recent collaboration with the, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is by far Lush’s most popular collaborations to date. Today I’m going to be reviewing another of my favourite products from the collection, the Princess Peach Body Spray.

The Mario and Luigi shower gels that are also a part of this collection are both remakes of older Lush shower gels, unlike Princess Peach which is a brand-new Lush scent!

I do love when older Lush scents come back to life in new products, BUT brand-new scents are always exciting too. The Princess Peach body spray is described on Lush’s website as a ‘fruity burst of peach and pineapple’.

Ingredients wise, the Princess Peach body spray contains organic sweet orange oil, buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil, olibanum resinoid and champaca absolute. This carefully selected group of ingredients create such an uplifting fragrance that is fit for a princess. If you’ve ever wondered what Princess Peach smells like, the Princess Peach body spray is the answer!

If you are familiar with Lush’s Peachy bath bomb, Princess Peach is quite similar to that but with a tropical twist. The longer you sniff it, the more complex the fragrance gets. At first, I can smell a cocktail of peach and pineapple then after a few more seconds there’s a muskiness to the scent, it reminds me of the little mushroom sweets I used to eat as a kid.

With mushrooms being such an intricate part of the Super Mario Bros. world I can’t help but think this may have been deliberate.

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but as soon as I see the pink label on this body spray with Princess Peach on it, my inner princess couldn’t help but squeal a little. Lush were wise to use these types of visuals on their packaging for this particular line. I know Lush are trying hard to use less and less packaging but sadly I think this line has had so much success due to its packaging.

The packaging with all of the characters on them is a huge reason that customers were tempted into Lush stores. I feel that how great the products actually are, is secondary to the Mario Bros. packaging.

The packaging of this body spray was brilliant at tempting new customers in but how amazing the body spray smells is what has made new Lush customers, forever-Lush-customers. Old customers like me, seem to have really loved the Mario Bros. line too so it’s a win, win!

I am very interested to see how well future collaborations go if the products aren’t so obviously a collab, like the Princess Peach body spray is.

Just a few spritz of the Princess Peach body spray either on your body or clothes is all you need for it to last on you all day. Its delicate fruity scent is delightful and a good choice if you dislike the heavier Lush scents. Overall, I adore this body spray and hope it’s not the last we see of the scent. I will be reviewing its shower jelly equivalent in the next few days so keep checking back!

Henny Penny Bubble Bar from Lush

The Henny Penny Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2023 Easter line. This shimmering, orange coloured chicken was one of the first products from this years range to catch my attention.

You may recognise the Henny Penny bubble bars scent as it also features in the Blackberry bath bombBewitched bubble bar and Sultana shower gel. It’s a very popular Lush-scent-family, and one I adore.

The Henny Penny bubble bar is incredibly detailed in a cartoon-like-way, you can make out the chicken’s feathers, beak, and eyes. It’s only a small (but very pretty) chicken, weighing in at approximately 100g each.

The Henny Penny bubble bar contains both olibanum and bergamot oils. This superb blend of essential oils are perfect for helping you wind down after a long day. The olibanum offers a sweet and gentle woody aroma while the bergamot gives it a delicate floral and citrus-fruit edge.

To use the Henny Penny bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve then let the running water trickle over it as I run my bath. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubbles bars like Henny Penny.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

My favourite thing about Lush’s bubble bars is that unlike the bath bombs they can be easily spread out over several baths.

Sadly, with Henny Penny being quite a small bubble bar I recommend using it all in one bath. Although, the choice is all yours. I suspect spreading it over 2 baths would be fine as most Lush bubble bars are good for it.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubbles to form once you run Henny Penny under the tap. Underneath the blanket of fluffy white bubbles your bath water turns a bold orange with plenty of golden sparkles.

A Henny Penny bath leaves me just as ready for bed as the Twilight or Sleepy bath bomb does (if not more!). There’s just something so magical about the combination of olibanum and bergamot oils that really helps me drift off.

My skin feels soft and well hydrated upon getting out of a Henny Penny bath, its moreish scent also remains on my skin hours after using it.

Before the Blackberry bath bomb was discontinued it was my go-to if I was ever struggling to fall asleep. As sad as I am that the Blackberry bath bomb has gone, Henny Penny made up for it, this Easter. I hope that Lush carry on creating new products in this scent as it really is gold dust for people that struggle to fall asleep like me.

Celebrate Foaming Body Scrub from Lush

The Celebrate Foaming Body Scrub is a brand-new, limited-edition product from Lush’s 2023 Easter line.

It is sold in pots of 240g and is described on Lush’s website as a ‘Citrussy sweet celebratory scrub’ that is Lush’s take on a ‘luxurious, champagne bathing experience’. Lush have released quite a few body scrubs to date BUT none have been a foaming body scrub.

The Celebrate foaming body scrub is a vibrant yellow colour and is a little harder consistency-wise than I am used to from Lush body scrubs. Its texture is very similar to a lip balm but with grit.

Although it is slightly more solid than other potted, Lush-body-scrubs it’s very easy to get out of the pot, ready to use.

Celebrate foaming body scrub’s scent is as its name suggests, Celebrate scented. Celebrate is a very popular scent-family amongst Lush customers and has featured in several other recently released products such as the Tea Party bath bomb and the massage bar of the same name. Other products that share its scent are the Celebrate body spray and Golden Pudding bath bomb.

The Celebrate foaming body scrub contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are, sweet wild orange oil, lime oil, jojoba oil and soya oil. Also included in the ingredients list is ground white rice. This is the secret-scrubby-ingredient that makes the Celebrate foaming body scrub such a great exfoliator.

A very small amount of the Celebrate foaming body scrub goes a long way, I scoop out about 3 fingers worth and that easily does my whole body. I recommend starting off by working it into wet skin slowly, this seems to get the most out of it being a scrub, once you feel like you have scrubbed enough add a little bit more water and speed up the rubbing-in to make it foam up, cleansing and exfoliating your skin all in one.

The one thing that I feel that I need to point out is that less is more when it comes down to the Celebrate foaming body scrub. I found using too much left my skin oilier than I like my skin to feel if I’m just getting out of the shower.

Its tangy citrusy scent with notes of bubbly champagne remains on your skin long after you have used it. It leaves my skin smoother, brighter-in-appearance and incredibly hydrated. There is no need to moisturise after using it.

I found that the end-result of using it, isn’t as oily-an-experience if you start off by rubbing it into your skin slowly. In short, if you don’t give it a proper chance to scrub and then foam-up it will feel very cakey on your skin once out of the shower. A small amount is best and putting it on slowly makes for the best results.

Overall, I love the Celebrate foaming body scrub. I cannot wait to see if Lush create more foaming body scrubs in the future!
