Apple Crumble Bubble Bar from Lush

The Apple Crumble Bubble Bar finally became available to purchase in the UK back in April 2021. Its initial release had been delayed several times before then and the wait for it felt like an eternity, so much so that I had started to believe that the UK weren’t ever going to get it…

I’m a huge fan of all things apple so was very excited to get a hold of the apple-shaped bubble bar.

The Apple Crumble bubble bars scent is a brand-new Lush-scent-family (to me anyway). A lot of customers including myself assumed that the bubble bar shared its scent with the Once Upon a Time body spray, at first, I admit to being a little disappointed that it didn’t share a scent, the disappointment however evaporated away as soon as I finally got to give Apple Crumble a sniff!

The Apple Crumble bubble bar contains myrrh resinoid, orange flower absolute, fresh apple pulp, shea butter, cinnamon leaf oil and organic cocoa butter. Its scent is delicious, it smells just like freshly sliced apples sprinkled in cinnamon sugar.

After spending months looking at the Apple Crumble bubble bar on Lush customers outside of the UK’s Instagram accounts, I was very surprised with its size once I finally had it in my hands.

At 200g each the Apple Crumble bubble bar is the exact same weight as the Brightside and the, The Comforter bubble bars.

The one thing I love about bubble bars is that they can be spread out over several baths while bath bombs can only really be used in just the one bath. I was therefore pleased to find out that a very little amount of the Apple Crumble bubble bar goes a ridiculously long way.

To use the Apple Crumble bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubble bars. This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

The first time I used the Apple Crumble bubble bar I decided to chuck half of one into a sieve, the bubbles began to grow very quickly, within just a few minutes I regretted using so much. It was like I’d stepped into my very own private foam party.

The water underneath the thick blanket of fluffy white bubbles is the deepest, most shimmery red colour I have seen created by a bubble bar from Lush in a very long time. It looks very similar to the beautiful waters created by the Poisson D’Avril bubble bar BUT Apple Crumble is so much silkier on your skin.

I don’t think my skin has ever felt so smooth after a bath before, there was no need to moisturise once I got out and the scent stayed on my skin for the rest of the day too.

Overall, I am super impressed with the Apple Crumble bubble bar. I am really looking forward to future products sharing its same delicious scent… I am also looking forward to reviewing the other fruit crumble bubble bars for you in the near future too!

Snow Fairy Roll Bubble Bar from Lush

The Snow Fairy Roll Bubble Bar has returned to Lush for yet another Winter. I can see it being a staple Winter product for years and years to come so thought I’d finally get my review on it published – better late than never!

Within the Lush Community the Snow Fairy scent dominates the festive period year-in-year-out and features in a variety of different product formats. Keeping on top of my reviews is like a full-time-job sometimes, hence this review going live well over a year since the bubble bars original release.

With the Snow Fairy Roll bubble bar selling so well last Winter, Lush decided to also bring it out in an extra-large version for Christmas 2021. The standard sized Snow Fairy Roll weighs approximately 200g while the super-sized version is approximately 1000g!

If you’ve read any of my previous product reviews on other Snow Fairy scented products such as the Snow Fairy shower gel or Snow Fairy bath bomb, you’d know I don’t tend to favour the sweeter scents. However, over the years I’ve warmed to the Snow Fairy scent somewhat. What really helps sell anything Snow Fairy to me is the fact all of the stock in its fragrance is my favourite colour, bright pink.

The standard sized Snow Fairy Roll bubble bars are the same size as the all-year-round bubble bar favourites, The Comforter and Brightside bubble bars. They are also made in the exact same way – 2 different coloured bubble bar mixtures are rolled together then chopped into separate bars ready to sell.

If you’d like to see them being made behind the scenes, be sure to check out @lushsneakypeeks on Instagram. It’s a fantastic account run by one of Lush’s most creative product-inventors. It’s by far the best insight into life at the Lush factory available on social media right now!

I’m usually not shy when it comes to being greedy with my bubble bars and I always overindulge but if I decided to be sensible with this bubble bar, I could easily get 5 maybe 6 generously bubbled baths out of just the one Snow Fairy Roll bubble bar. My favourite thing about all of the ‘Roll bubble bars’ is how far they go. They are definitely the most cost-effective Lush products available to date.

To use Lush bubble bars, I break them up and stick however many pieces I want into a sieve before running it under the tap. Copious amounts of bubbles begin to build up in the bath almost immediately.

If like me you’re not crazy on the Snow Fairy scent, I recommend using smaller amounts of the bubble bar chunks per bath. After all, it’s easy to add more product if you feel it needs it BUT is impossible to take any back if you’ve accidentally used too much. Sometimes, less is more!

The Snow Fairy Roll bubble bars scent is a sickly-sweet blend of candy and bubblegum making it quite an acquired taste. I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent at first, favouring the spicy products such as this year’s Cinnamon Roll bubble bar instead BUT after back-to-back Winters packed full of all-things-Snow-Fairy I now feel as if Christmas would no longer be Christmas without it.

While the bath runs, underneath the vastly growing blanket of bubbles the water turns a beautiful shade of bright pink with a silvery white coloured shimmer to it. The water is silky soft and despite its strong sweet scent I find myself very relaxed while soaking myself in its waters.

Being honest as always, the Snow Fairy Roll bubble bar isn’t my favourite bubble bar from Lush but the beautiful colour it turns the water makes my inner 4-year-old so very happy! As I mentioned at the start of this review, it’s a very popular product and I can see it coming back year after year in both its standard and super-sized versions. 😊

Alien Bubble Bar from Lush

The Alien Bubble Bar is yet another brand-new, product from Lush’s limited-edition 2021 Halloween line. Designed in the shape of a bright-green-alien-head with 2 big, jet-black eyes, it’s both cute and creepy.

I wouldn’t ordinarily match aliens up with Halloween but alien films scare me a lot more than films with serial killers, blood, and guts so I suppose they are definitely spooky enough to fit into the Halloween range…

Many customers including myself had hoped that the Alien bubble bar shared its scent with the Calacas shower gel (a much loved Halloween favourite) Alien however contains bergamot, litsea cubeba and benzoin resinoid.

Its scent is zesty but is not a part of the Calacas scent family. It’s a lot more zesty and much more potent, it reminds me of a mixture of the Avobath and Melusine bath bombs. If you’re looking for a bubble bar to give yourself a boost, look no further.

Alien fits snuggly in my hand, it’s roughly the same size as last year’s Halloween bubble bar, Bewitched. You can easily get 2 bubble baths out of the one bar. Or one super luxurious one!

To use the Alien bubble bar I recommend breaking it up and running it under the hot tap as your bath fills up. Some people just run it under the tap in their hand, others use it in a sieve. I find the sieve method a lot more effective as it stops any product from escaping, helping you reach its maximum bubble potential!

Once the bubble bar has gone from the sieve, another trick for extra bubbles is to use the shower head. While it’s on, holding the shower head close to the water, pointing it right into the bath for just a minute will help the amount of bubbles you have almost double.

The bubbles form very quickly as the tap runs over the bubble bar, underneath the blanket of bubbles the water turns a beautiful shade of neon green. The scent fills your bathroom leaving you feeling refreshed, uplifted, and ready to take on the day.

The bubbles from the Alien bubble bar last throughout your bath. Some bubble-bars’-bubbles don’t hang around in the same way, disappearing long before you pull the plug. Alien’s bubbles however stick around lasting longer in the bath than you do!

Once out of the bath its scent stays on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day – which is quite rare for zesty and citrusy products. My skin feels hydrated and also appears brighter too.

Overall, I am really impressed with the Alien bubble bar, I love how green it turns the water and how its scent wakes me up. While I don’t think I can ever forgive Lush for not bringing the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb back for Halloween, I’m glad they’ve given us this zesty bubble bar to fill part of the void that its absence has left.
