Slammer Bath Bomb from Lush

I’ve said in several of my previous reviews on products from the Lush Kitchen subscription boxes that the main reason that I subscribe to the service is for the chance to try long-gone, discontinued products from Lush’s past and the Slammer Bath Bomb is one of those products!

I was over the moon to see that it had made it into January 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. It’s rare for an old product to be new to me so I always get excited when I do get a hold of one.

The Slammer bath bomb shares its scent with the shower gel of the same name, Slammer shower gel.

This yellow and green bath bomb really stood out amongst the other treats in the January 2023 box, I couldn’t help but buy another on eBay as soon as my box arrived.

Slammer contains lime, litsea cubeba and Sicilian lemon oils so is full of energy boosting ingredients, it is the perfect product to help fuel an early-morning-start AND (although I don’t drink alcohol so cannot say this from personal experience) it is also said to be really good to use when you’ve got a hangover.

It has such a refreshing, zingy fragrance yet is completely different from the likes of the Calacas scent family. If you are a fan of the Calacas shower gel and the many different Calacas scented bath bombs, then I’d recommend giving the Slammer bath bomb a go if you ever get the chance.

As soon as Slammer touches your bath water it begins to fizzle away. A lot of Lush’s earlier bath bombs weren’t designed to create bath art. They were actually invented by one of the Lush founders as a way to practice aromatherapy at home and for skin soothing purposes. I always keep this in mind when I am using an older style bath bomb. Another example of an older style bath bomb is the Blackberry bath bomb.

Slammer is a very quick dissolver and has fully disappeared in less than 2 minutes. It leaves your bath water an almost neon yellow, fitting right in with its zingy, lemon and lime vibes. Its scent (like the Blackberry bath bomb) is what makes this bath bomb special.

When I shared my photos of the Slammer bath bomb on my Instagram, I mentioned that it was what the Lush community call a ‘sinker’. This means it falls to the bottom of the bath as it dissolves. My favourite thing to do when I have a sinker is lay back and let the bubbles fizzing out of it tickle my back. It’s heavenly.

Overall I have really enjoyed using the Slammer bath bomb, I know it won’t be one of the most popular as the masses now prefer bath bombs that spit out bundles of colour and bath art but if you appreciate it for what it does do, it’s the perfect wake-me-up bath bomb.

I can’t wait to see what other retro Lush products come out in future Lush Kitchen subscription boxes and I’m hopeful that this isn’t the last we see (or should I say sniff) of Slammer scented Lush products!

Gold Rabbit Bath Bomb from Lush

The Gold Rabbit Bath Bomb is a product specifically made for the Lunar New Year celebrations. It was released at the end of December 2022 just in time for the start of 2023, the year of the rabbit.

Last year, Lush created another product for Lunar new year with the release of the Lucky Tiger bath bomb, I really liked it so I was incredibly excited to see that Lush had once again decided to celebrate the Lunar New Year with yet another, year-of-the bath bomb.

The Gold Rabbit bath bomb is just a little bit smaller than the standard sized bath bomb weighing in at 180g. It’s created in the shape of a flower-decorated rabbit. Its colour and golden shimmer is very similar to the likes of the aforementioned Lucky Tiger, Rose Gold and Partridge in a Pear Tree bath bombs.

The attention to detail makes the Gold Rabbit such a beautiful bath bomb, the intricate flowers etched into it makes it hard to believe that Lush bath bombs are hand pressed. Since 3D printing technology has improved (making it possible for more complicated bath-bomb-mould designs) the details of Lush bath bombs have gotten better and better.

Gold Rabbit is a pale red (almost cerise) bath bomb coated in plastic-free, shimmery golden pigment (mica). It’s an incredibly sparkly bath bomb so not for the faint hearted, ALTHOUGH – I always feel like I must explain in my reviews of products like this that there’s no need to be afraid of anything from Lush that is sparkly.

When I first got into Lush the thought of using ‘glittery’ products terrified me. However, it’s not at all scary and after just one ‘glittery’ bath I was sold on all things shimmery. Bath bombs such as the Gold Rabbit make for very pleasant experiences, it’s not like jumping into a giant pot of glitter, I promise!

Gold Rabbits scent is from Lush’s scent family, Grass. It is a hugely popular, Lush-retro-fragrance that has featured in copious amounts of different Lush products, in several different formats over the years. There has been a reboot of the shower gel most recently, I will be reviewing it on here sometime soon.

The Gold Rabbit bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients including the likes of: Sandalwood, bergamot and neroli oils. Its scent is best described as being very similar to freshly cut grass. It’s earthy, fresh, and warm.

As soon as the Gold Rabbit bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a gentle hiss. Small cerise bubbles fizzle out of it as the water quickly turns an orangey pink. The golden shimmer also starts to spread around the water too, as the light captures it shimmering, I couldn’t help but ‘ooo’!

Much like last year’s Lunar-new-year bath bomb you don’t get any bath art out of Gold Rabbit and it’s not a foamy bath bomb either. The star points of Gold Rabbit are its scent and the beautiful shimmering water it leaves behind.

It’s a fast fizzer so you’ll be able to lay back to enjoy its sparkly waters in no time at all. The Gold Rabbit bath bombs scent remained on my skin right through until the next day and left my skin soft and refreshed too.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Gold Rabbit bath bomb, it’s a fantastic product inspired by a beautifully reflective and special time of year. I am looking forward to seeing what Lush come up with for Lunar new year, 2024!

There’s Room for Everyone on the Nice List Bath Bomb from Lush

I have been super-excited to review the, There’s Room for Everyone on the Nice List Bath Bomb as it really reminds me of Lush’s phenomenal 2016 Christmas line.

2016 was such an exciting year for Lush as we had the first, legendary Lush-creative-showcase. It is one of my (if not my) fondest memories of Lush and I still get butterflies thinking about what an amazing experience it was.

The There’s Room for Everyone on the Nice List bath bomb wasn’t a product available back then so you’re probably confused as to why I am even mentioning it BUT this bath bomb just seems to capture the same feelings of excitement in me.

I am a self-confessed Christmas-Scrooge so for me to be this excited about a product that is an in-your-face Christmas product is a huge deal indeed…

You’ve probably noticed the, There’s Room for Everyone on the Nice List bath bomb’s long name, to make it easier for you to read this review (and me to write this review) I will furthermore refer to it as the ‘There’s Room bath bomb’.

At the time of writing this review, the There’s Room bath bomb has only ever been available exclusively to those who purchased the December 2022, Lush-Kitchen-Subscription-box.

Whether it will come back as an actual product you can buy individually for Winter 2023 is a question that can only be answered by Lush. I however have my fingers crossed that it does make a reappearance at some point!

The There’s Room bath bomb contains some of the following ingredients: Rose oil, violet leaf absolute, sandalwood oil, and maple syrup and shares its scent with the Confetti perfume.

The scent is best described as heavily-violet, sweet and floral. I feel as if it is a mix of the Rose Jam shower gel’s scent and the Ultraviolet bubble bar. It’s floral but not in an old-lady way, it’s a fun scent that uplifts yet calms you down.

As you can see from the first and 2nd photos I have included in this review, the There’s Room bath bomb is a very clever design. I had to also include a side-shot of this bath bomb just to show you all how detailed it really is. Shaped as a yellow elf’s head, it has a pointed green elf-hat, pointed yellow elf-ears and bright pink elf-cheeks.

It’s one of the cutest bath bombs Lush have ever made, I imagine pressing this bath bomb is quite timely and that’s why it was only released as a Lush Kitchen exclusive.

As soon as the, There’s Room bath bomb comes in to contact with the bath water you are greeted with a soft hiss of yellow and green bubbles. As the bath bomb slowly dissolves the water gets to the bath bombs pink elf-cheeks and then pink bubbles start to spill out of the bath bomb too.

The bath art it creates reminds me of the bath art created by the 2021 version of the Lord of Misrule bath bomb albeit slightly different colouring. Some of the pictures I took of it also remind me of the Mermaid bath bomb although, There’s Room is much more colourful.

The There’s Room bath bomb takes a good 10-12 minutes to fully dissolve.

It doesn’t take long for the pink cheeks to disappear leaving you with just yellow and green bath-art-bubbles. Once all of the bath bomb has gone you are left with bright green, silky soft bath water.

The water is super-hydrating on your skin and once you’re out of the bath, the scent stays on your skin for the rest of the day. I could still smell it on my skin the next morning too.

As I said earlier, the scent of this bath bomb is quite a heavy one. Violet leaf is a powerful ingredient in perfume, and it works so well in the bath bomb format mixed with rose and sandalwood oil.

I can see this scent being made into several more different product formats in the future. As for my overall thoughts on the There’s Room for Everyone on the Nice list bath bomb, I loved it. I have my fingers crossed that Lush find a way to bring it out as a part of the 2023 Christmas line so that everyone can get a chance to try it, it’s fabulous!
