Diamond Dust Bath Bomb from Lush

Set to be officially released as a mainline product in the late Autumn of 2021, the Diamond Dust Bath Bomb first became available in Lush’s, May 2021 Lush Kitchen Subscription box.

Said to be the most sparkly bath bomb to ever be released, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one.

The first thing you notice about the Diamond Dust bath bomb is its unique shape, if you’re not at all familiar with UK TV gameshows, (ones that were on in the early 90’s in particular) this next reference won’t mean anything to you but for me, the bath bomb really reminds me of the old TV gameshow The Crystal Maze.

Diamond Dust’s creamy pink and orange colouring as well as its unique shape has well and truly caught the attention of the Lush community.

Containing neroli, ylang ylang, black pepper, sandalwood and vetivert oils its scent is both uplifting and relaxing.

Describing its scent is quite difficult because of its long list of ingredients but I will give it my best shot…

You’d think that with so many ingredients the Diamond Dust bath bomb would have a powerful overbearing scent, its scent is however subtle and not at all in your face.

Even though the Diamond Dust bath bombs scent is subtle there are several layers to its fragrance, my nose first picks up on the very expensive neroli oil, then there is a subtle but warm smoky layer to it that rounds the neroli’s bitterness off.

There’s also a floral element to it from the ylang ylang too. It’s incredibly moreish, a long soak in its waters will leave you feeling refreshed and will also lift your spirits.

As soon as the Diamond Dust bath bomb hits the water it begins to fizzle away, light pastel pinks, oranges, yellows and creamy white foam sizzles out of the bath bomb as it charges around like a speed boat, dancing on the waters surface.

It’s a fairly slow fizzer and although it’s not big for bath art, there are several beautiful bath art shots of it on Instagram if you search via the hashtag #DiamondDustBathBomb. My photos in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all so please do check the hashtag out on Instagram.

Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with milky-peach-water that is jam packed with gorgeous shimmer. Lush weren’t lying when they said that this bath bomb was a sparkler. I wish I could have gotten a photo of the shimmer for this review but it’s so hard to capture on camera. It’s a bath bomb you have to experience for yourself to see its true glittery potential.

My skin felt super-soft once I was out of the bath and its gentle scent remained on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too.

The Diamond Dust bath bomb is set to be released as a mainline product this November. Unfortunately I feel that the bath bombs extortionate price (£8.50 each) will however put a lot of customers off.

#TBH365 Bath Bomb from Lush

The #TBH365 Bath Bomb is yet another wonderful, limited edition, charity bath bomb released in May 2021 by Lush. #TBH365 is an abbreviation of the statement, Teach Black History, all year round. This fundraising bath bomb is raising money for a social enterprise called The Black Curriculum.

The Black Curriculum was founded back in 2019, its main purpose is to address the lack of Black British history within the UK national curriculum.

All proceeds (minus VAT) made from the sales of the TBH bath bomb will be donated to The Black Curriculum.

The Black Curriculum deliver art focused Black history programmes and provide teacher training to facilitate social change. The programmes they deliver are suitable for all young people aged 8-16. I left school back in 2006 and honestly cannot remember studying any black history in length at all. I think we joined in with Black history month all of once and it was more or less just one or two lessons. As someone who has always been very interested in history (my history GCSE teacher hated me and would disagree, but I do generally enjoy the subject) I find this appalling.

If it wasn’t for campaigns like this, so many people do, would and will remain ignorant to the inexcusable fact that the teaching of Black history just isn’t given the right or in some cases any amount of coverage within schools.

For the purpose of this review, I am going to refer to the #TBH365 bath bomb as the TBH bath bomb from now on, just to make writing and reading this review a little easier. I don’t know about you but too many hashtags and numbers are making my eyes go funny!

The TBH bath bomb shares its scent with the Charity Pot/Grassroots Lush-scent-family and contains a carefully selected list of ingredients that work together impeccably. – Geranium, rosewood and ylang ylang oils alongside a generous helping of vanilla absolute means its fragrance is best described as a warm yet gentle-floral and vanilla rich affair.

The TBH bath bomb is designed to look like an open book, it is decorated with the, The Black Curriculum’s Logo and also includes an etched ribbon-bookmark and is a HUGE bath bomb! You can see just how big it is in the photo of me holding it. – I have actually seen several people snap their bath bomb in half using each piece in 2 different baths.

Sporting a beautiful blend of pretty colours, red, orange, yellow and white; I was excited to see what bath art the TBH bath bomb would create. Not only is TBH designed with bright, warm, and super inviting colours but it also has a very generous amount of hypnotizingly-sparkly gold shimmer in!

The bath art that the TBH bath bomb creates is truly stunning, my photos in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all. As the bath bomb is quite big, it takes a long time to fully dissolve BUT once you’re in the tub with it, it doesn’t take long for you to drift off into a state of pure relaxation.

Once the TBH bath bomb has fully dissolved you are left with bright orange, shimmery-gold-water that I couldn’t help but swirl around a bit before I got out, the way it swirls around is just so incredibly mesmerising.

The bath bombs gentle scent remains on your skin for a good few hours after leaving the bathtub, it also left my skin feeling hydrated and appearing brighter and completely refreshed. Overall, I am over-the-moon in-love with the TBH bath bomb. It is made to raise awareness and funds for a brilliant cause, creates captivatingly beautiful bath art all while also smelling absolutely delicious! …Oh how I wish it wasn’t a limited edition product.

Rad Dad Shower Gel from Lush

The Rad Dad Shower Gel was first released as a part of 2021’s Father’s Day line. At the point of writing this review it has been a ridiculously long time since Lush released a new shower gel so I was incredibly excited for its release. Described by Lush as a ‘Siberian pine and orris oil bathroom treat’ I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a bottle.

Rad Dad shower gel is a beautifully dark shade of blue, sharing its scent with all of the products from the Fresh As/Needles and Pines scent-family I knew before I even tried it that it would be a firm favourite for my husband in particular, he already uses the Fresh As perfume that I got him for Christmas 2020 all the time so a shower gel with the same scent is a winner!

Rad Dad contains a long list of refreshing and stimulating ingredients, there’s Siberian fir needle, orris and tagetes oils as well as benzoin resinoid and fresh cucumber.

Its scent is very outdoorsy, rich and herbaceous. It’s refreshing but also creates a warming sensation on your skin, it’s an excellent shower gel to use after a work out or a physically demanding day.

As someone who deals with chronic pain in all of my joints and muscles, the Rad Dad shower gels stimulating effects really does help soothe my tired, aching muscles.

Consistency wise the Rad Dad shower gel is lovely and thick, much like the Hot Toddy and Bubbly shower gels. After several, most-recent, watery shower gel releases from Lush, I was pleasantly surprised when I first squirted some Rad Dad shower gel in my hands.

Rad Dad lathers quickly and the tiniest amount goes a very long way. A blob the size of a one-pound coin is more than enough to wash your whole body with.

Its scent really does come alive when combined with the hot water and steam from your shower. If you’re looking for a product that isn’t as spicy as Cinders shower gel, yet is still warming on the skin, Rad Dad is well worth a try.

The shower gels scent remains on your skin for the best part of the rest of the day. I wouldn’t say it was a particularly hydrating shower gel but it doesn’t dry out my skin at all.

Overall I am very impressed with the Rad Dad shower gel, it’s good value for money and is loved by everyone in my house. I am devastated that Rad Dad will only be available for Father’s Day as it really is one of the best shower gels Lush have released in a very long time!
