Heart Beat Bath Bomb from Lush

The Heart Beat Bath Bomb is a brand new release from Lush’s 2021 Valentine’s Day line. Lush have taken inspiration for the Heart Beat bath bombs design from the much loved, Christmas-time-classic, the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb.

Just like the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb the Heart Beat bath bomb has 3, shimmery-gold bath melts set in its side, the difference being that they are heart shaped instead of stars! (see photos above and below).

You may recognise the Heart Beat bath bombs scent as it features in several other much-loved Lush products, Rose Jam shower gel being the first product that springs to my-mind that is (at the time of writing this review) currently available to purchase too.

The Heart Beat bath bomb contains a long list of lovey-dovey floral ingredients; there’s rose absolute, rose oil and geranium oil. There is also some lemon and almond oil mixed in alongside an impressive amount of popping candy.

The heart shaped melts are made of organic cocoa butter and much like the Butterball bath bomb it is recommended that you use the Heart Beat bath bomb in a hot as you can stand it bath so that your skin can get the full benefits from the super-hydrating, heart shaped bath melts.

My very first experience with the Rose Jam scent was a surprise as, as soon as I had heard its name I ignorantly assumed that it would be an older ladies fragrance, it is however far from it. It is a rose-dominated-scent but the lemon oil in it gives it a sweet and zingy edge making it highly desirable to everyone, young or old.

As soon as the Heart Beat bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water you are greeted with a fierce hiss of fizzy, dark-pink bubbles. It slowly dances around the waters-surface, fizzing away, spreading small amounts of shimmer from the gold bath melts as it fills your bathroom with its inviting and warm Rose Jam scent.

Once Heart Beat is in the water my nose can’t help but pick out a candy-like fragrance coming from it. I’m wondering if this could maybe be from the popping candy that is in it as it’s not something I have noticed with any other Rose Jam scented product before…

Heart Beat is a fairly slow fizzer, by the time the popping candy started to do its thing I had completely forgotten it was even inside of the bath bomb. As always the popping candy puts on a snap, crackle and popping bath-time-show that you’d expect only from the likes of a fireworks display.

As I said earlier the Heart Beat bath bomb is best enjoyed in a hot as you can stand it bath as this melts down the heart-shaped-bath-melts into an oil making it one of Lush’s most hydrating bath bombs. I’m not a huge fan of the super hydrating bath bombs as I’m not very steady on my feet and generally have quite oily skin to start with but using one every now and again is quite the treat.

Annoyingly I do have to either hose myself down or dab off the excess oil with a towel once I am out of the bath, the Rose Jam scent however stays on your skin so you’re not losing the fragrance just the excess oils.

The bath-tub-clean-up isn’t too bad either, I run a wet (with hot water) sponge with a dab of shower gel over the bath and the oil does rinse away easily. Quite often I don’t need to do this with Lush bath bombs but Heart Beat does require a tiny bit of clean up. – Overall I do however really like the Heart Beat bath bomb and recommend that you try it at least once before the Valentine’s day stock retires for another year. 😊❤️

Orange Shower Scrub from Lush

The Orange Shower Scrub started off as a 2020, Christmas-line exclusive. It however became popular very quickly, so-much-so that Lush decided to make it an all-year-round product within just a few weeks of its release.

If you enjoy using the Brightside bubble bar then you’ll enjoy using the Orange shower scrub too. Brightside shares the same uplifting and zing-elicious fragrance as the Orange shower scrub, When I’m groggy and tired I can’t help but reach for it in the shower on a cold Winters morning.

To use the Orange shower scrub all you have to do is scoop out a small amount, you then work the scrub into your skin in circular motions making sure to pay extra attention to any dry patches you may have such as your knees and elbows.

Orange shower scrub can be used on both wet and dry skin; For a gentle scrubbing experience I’d recommend using it on wet skin and for a more intense scrub, I’d use it on dry skin followed by you getting in and rinsing it off in the shower.

A very small amount of the Orange shower scrub goes a very long way making it excellent value for money. As much as I love a heavy duty scrub I do prefer using the Orange shower scrub on wet skin, I find that when used alongside water it gives my skin just the right amount of hydration as it does scrubbiness.

Containing Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and tangerine essential oils, the Orange shower scrub is jam packed with vitamin C, it not only gives me an energy boost but also leaves my skin perfectly buffed as well as appearing much brighter.

Consistency wise I’d compare the Orange shower scrub to a mixture of the Rub Rub Rub and Magic Crystals shower scrubs. It’s not quite as silky to touch as Rub Rub Rub but has the chunkier salt crystals in like the Magic Crystals shower scrub does.

While the Orange shower scrub isn’t my favourite of the Lush shower scrubs that are currently available, it has been nice to experience a scrub in a different scent. I can see why it has sold so well and can see it doing well in the foreseeable future too. I for one would be a lot happier to receive a pot of this in my Christmas stocking rather than a satsuma! 😉

Abracadabra Bubble Stick from Lush

The Abracadabra Bubble Stick is one of Lush’s newer reusable bubble bars, it was released in the UK earlier this year alongside several others to celebrate the anniversary of the invention of the bubble bar, 30 years ago.

Abracadabra shares its scent with the Blackberry bath bomb and Sultana shower gel. The Blackberry/Sultana Lush-scent-family is one of my all-time-favourites so I always make sure to buy everything that is released in its scent.

Using any product that shares a scent with the Abracadabra bubble stick before bed really helps me get a good nights sleep. Sleep is something I have always struggled with so anything that helps me drift off easier is gold dust to me. Making a magic wand shaped product with this incredible scent couldn’t be more appropriate in my eyes, as it really is magic!

Containing bergamot and frankincense oils, the Abracadabra bubble stick is the perfect blend of ingredients to be around when you need to wind down and chill out. The frankincense offers a sweet yet gentle woody aroma while the bergamot gives it a delicate citrus-fruit edge.

Reusable bubble bars are slightly different to the normal bubble bars, you don’t have to break a reusable bubble bar up and use it in pieces, you simply run it all under the tap as shown in the photo below.

Once you have the desired amount of bubbles in your bath simply place the bubble bar out of the way where it can be left to dry ready for when you next decide to use it. It says on the Lush website that you can get 3-4 baths out of just the one Abracadabra bubble stick. I am however super greedy and always over indulge spreading it over just 2.

As soon as you hold the Abracadabra bubble stick under the tap, the water starts to turn a beautiful shade of purple while a steady stream of fluffy white bubbles begin to build up on the waters surface.

I wish I had a shower head attached to my bath as blasting the bath water with that is a much quicker way of getting bubbles when it comes down to the reusable bubble bars. If you have one, I strongly recommend giving it a go if you really want to go to town with the quantity of bubbles! if not, a good swirl of the water with your hand works great too.

After just a few minutes of holding the bubble bar under the running tap, the bath will be ready for you to get into. The dark purple water it creates is super inviting, you can almost feel the stresses of the day leave you as you slowly sink yourself in.

The fluffy white bubbles hang around right up until it’s time to pull the bath plug out, as does its relaxing scent. It leaves my skin soft, hydrated and appearing brighter. The bergamot and frankincense fragrance stays on my skin for the best part of the next day too.

Overall I really do love the Abracadabra bubble stick, I find the reusable bubble bars to not always be on par with the ordinary ones but Abracadabra has really impressed me, I’m really glad that it’s currently (at the point of writing this review) a main line product.
