Rudy Gift Set from Lush

I don’t normally buy the Lush gift sets however this year I haven’t been able to resist, I spotted them on my last trip to Lush Oxford Street and thought I’d treat myself to something different because why not?

Most of my Winter Lush purchases have been online so far this year, that or from the Creative Showcase back in September. I haven’t actually visited my local store for about 6 weeks… We have a world record right here… *shivers with withdrawal symptoms* I’ve just had so much going on with the wedding and have also been recovering from surgery so I just haven’t had the time or energy. I’m hoping I do get to pop into my local store on Tuesday though, I have my eye on several of the new brightly coloured paper bags! what better excuse for a top up of bath bombs?

Although the Rudy Gift Set looks more like a bunny rabbit to some, you can see it’s a reindeer if you try. With his red nose he is in fact the most important reindeer of them all, Rudolph!

Inside the Rudy  gift set is 1 Butterball bath bomb and 1 Shoot for the stars bath bomb.

Yes, buying the 2 bath bombs individually is slightly cheaper but I quite like the idea of presenting them in a knot wrap like this, it’s creative, different and sure to impress anyone as a Christmas gift.

Using a knot wrap instead of gift wrap helps the planet. I know there are different rules for different areas but where we live a very high percentage of the gift wrap used at Christmas just goes straight to landfill, I know this because my hubby-to-be is the manager of the local recycling center. A good 90% of wrapping paper cannot be recycled and it’s this time of year that we throw away the most.

Using knot wraps as an alternative to wrapping paper is a great solution to help the planet, buckling down on the over use of non recyclable waste is a step in the right direction for the world.

Knot wraps can be used time and time again. Tying them up may appear tricky but it is in fact very easy, there are hundreds of different ways of doing it, I learnt how to do them from just watching Youtube tutorials. It’s easy-peasy, lemon squeezy.

If you aren’t any good at stuff like that and the Youtube tutorials still have you puzzled do not worry as the Rudy gift set comes ready wrapped/knotted. If you did want to try doing one for yourself for someone else the shop assistants at Lush are always more than happy to help you knot-wrap your Lush goodies.

As mentioned above the 2 bath bombs included in the Rudy gift set are the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb and the Butterball bath bomb.

To see the review on the Butterball bath bomb click here. Butterball is very similar to the Butterbear bath bomb but is sold all year round as opposed to the Butterbear bath bomb only being available in the winter months.

Overall I really like this gift set and I think it would make a very good present to someone who you want to turn into a Lushie or for a Lushie you already know of.

Snow Fairy Shower Gel from Lush

I make it no secret that the super sweet products from Lush are normally my least favourite. It is because of this that I had always avoided the Snow Fairy Shower Gel, reaching out for other products instead.

Last Winter I however decided to give the Snow Fairy shower gel a go as my boyfriend loved it and I also wanted to try to understand the hype around it.

Products that share the Snow Fairy scent have been made in to so many different formats that I just couldn’t avoid embracing it any longer.

Since last year my nose has warmed to it. It’s not the type of scent that I am normally comfortable with and it did take a while to get used to but I am starting to quite enjoy it when used with other Lush products.

SF IN BOTTLE.png

The Snow Fairy shower gel is a glorious, bright pink which happens to be the best colour in the world. Smelling of candy floss and bubblegum, I can see why it’s such a hit with the younger Lush addicts.

The shower gel is at the perfect consistency for using in the shower, it’s not too thick and not too runny either.

A little bit of the product goes a long way and although the scent is a little overpowering at first, once you’re out of your bathroom, the scent left on your skin isn’t nearly as fierce.

Once you’re out and the scent has toned down some what,  I begin to really it.

Some Lush scents are very in your face and are very enjoyable I however feel I only like the Snow Fairy scent an hour or 2 after using it.

Snow  Fairy is not my favourite Lush shower gel and I hate saying stuff like this but I don’t think I’d miss it to the point of tears, if it didn’t come back next winter.

This isn’t because I dislike the product, it’s okay, I just prefer other shower gels and because the Snow Fairy scent is featured in so many other products we’d never, ever be fully without it if I ever did decide that I in fact love it…

With it being such a beautiful pink I really do wish I liked it more.

Wizard Bubble Bar from Lush

wizard-bubble-bar

I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting the Wizard Bubble Bar to smell like.

Yes, you can read the ingredients list and take a guess but when I do, do this for a Lush product, 90% of the time  I am never right.

Just one ingredient could either dampen or heighten the scent of another ingredient. As much as inconsistency annoys me it’s what makes each and every Lush product addictively interesting.

I believe that the Wizard Bubble Bar was a Halloween product from a few years ago, I unfortunately didn’t get to try it back then so have had to wait for it to be on the Lush Kitchen menu on a week I had some spare cash.

I finally got hold of a few and now it’s time for me to tell you if it was worth the wait…

The first thing you notice about the Wizard bubble bar is its sparkly, cadbury purple hat, with a big yellow star attached. He is so stinkin’ cute! I just want to grab them all and keep them forever.

As lovely as that would be, Lush products are made to be used and it didn’t take me long to have one of them dissected, (strictly for bathing purposes, of course!)

Its scent is quite different from anything I’ve used from Lush before. It has fennel oil in which gives it a sweet yet spicy edge. In with the fennel oil is tangerine and juniperberry oil too, these add a slight fruity and woody element to its scent.

I really can’t put my finger on how I could fully describe it. It warm and magical. I love its scent, my boyfriend however turned his nose up at it straight away. You can’t please them all…

The Wizard Bubble Bar is the perfect winter product. When I’m cold and my joints and muscles are aching after a long day there is nothing better than slipping yourself into a Wizard bubble bath.

Its ingredients warms me up, relaxes my tired body and helps me wind down ready for a good night sleep.

It’s an incredibly moisturising bath product that I am sure my winter battered skin would thank me for if it could speak.

The smallest amount of the Wizard bubble bar creates copious amounts of fluffy white bubbles, there really is nothing better than slipping yourself under a blanket of silky, soft, bath bubbles.

Even writing about it now is making me want to go jump in a Wizard bath.

I’d recommend using the Wizard Bubble Bar over 2 baths.

The amount is however your choice entirely. As I said, a little of it goes a very long way.

Paired with other products you could certainly make it last over more than 2 baths.

Underneath the perfect blanket of bubbles is rich, cadbury purple sparkly water. It’s so enchanting to look at and my photo below honestly does it no justice at all. The Wizard bubble bar really does give you a magical bath time.

It reminds me of 2015’s Bar Humbug bubble bar although if I had to choose between the 2 I’d vote for Wizard.

People often ask me what I’d pair products up with so I have decided to start adding a few Lush cocktail ideas in my reviews.

With the Wizard bubble bar I’d recommend using it with 1 or 1 half of a Blackberry bath bomb alongside a splosh of Hot Toddy shower gel. It’s such a relaxing mix of products that always warms me up. Another good idea is to use it with Lush Oxford Street’s Satsuma bath bomb.

For something with such a complicated scent it is very versatile, if you think a product would work with it, try it!
