Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb from Lush

Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb.pngIt’s crazy to think that Easter 2016 has already been and gone, the first 5 or so months of the year normally creep past making Spring and Summer appear to be just a myth… What feels like 10 minutes after new years eve is now May the 5th!? Better late than never, here is my review on the beautiful florally decorated, hot-pink, egg shaped bath bomb called the Fluffy Egg!

Sharing its scent with the much loved Christmas shower gel Snow Fairy, Fluffy Egg has always proved very popular with Lush fans, coming back as an Easter exclusive every year since its original release. If you haven’t experienced the Snow Fairy scent before, it’s a very sickly-sweet smell, think bubblegum, oodles of sugar and candy floss galore.

I am going to admit that I am one of the very few people that doesn’t get ridiculously excited about the Snow Fairy scent. It’s not at all unpleasant, in fact its a very likeable scent. I however have never had much of a sweet tooth so it’s never going to be my go to product. If I however was faced with the choice of a chocolate Easter egg or this Fluffy Egg bath bomb, I’d pick the bath bomb every time.


Upon hitting the water Fluffy Egg starts to fizzle away ferociously. Floating just beneath the surface of the water, Fluffy Egg immediately starts to change your bath water into a sea of pink magic. Although Fluffy Egg is a very fast fizzer its scent stays with you through out the whole of your bath.

Not only does Fluffy Egg’s scent stay with you right up until the last drop of bath water goes down the plug hole, it also lingers on your skin for the best part of the day after getting out. I wouldn’t say that this bath bomb was particularly moisturising.

Most Lush bath bombs hydrate my skin so much so that I do not have to moisturise myself after. With Fluffy Egg I however found my skin a little dry after I got out of the bath. I just wish I had a Snow Fairy scented body lotion as I hate the idea of masking its scent with another product entirely.

Luckily, since first writing this review in May 2016, Lush have blessed us all with a Snow Fairy body conditioner ( first released as a part of Lush’s 2017 Winter line). Although it’s not quite the same as a body lotion, it does a very similar job and it shares the same scent  as Fluffy so there’s not two different scents masking one of the other.

Fluffy Egg as I said above is a very quick fizzer, the quick fizzers sometimes dissolve away so fast that you don’t get to appreciate some of the patterns a bath bomb can make.

Although the pretty bath art made by the Fluffy Egg bath bomb is nowhere on par to the likes of many other bath bombs, I do love the colour pink so I can’t complain. Sometimes less is more.

I wish they did this bath bomb in a blue colour too. I know my nieces and nephews would LOVE to use these mini egg bath bombs but the boys would never speak to me again if I got them a pink present… So ungrateful! 😉

Overall I think Fluffy Egg is a great addition to Lush’s Easter line and I look forward to hopefully seeing it again in 2017.

Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream from Lush

When I first got into Lush I was so focused on the bath bombs and bubble bars that the other products didn’t really have much of a chance to impress me. Bath bombs, bubble bars and shower jellies are unique to Lush, there’s not many other cosmetic companies that specialise in them and it’s those 3 specific, quirky products that initially got me into their store in the first place.

After I had pretty much exhausted every choice of bubble bar and bath bomb currently available at Lush I decided to try some more of their products. – Enter the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream.

I knew of the Yuzu and Cocoa scent from the yellow bubbleroon that goes by the same name, I thought it had a beautiful scent but I always favoured the bigger bubble bars as I felt they were better value for money. When the flagship Lush store in Oxford Street opened their doors for the very first time one of its exclusive products was the Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream. 

As liquid shower products go, the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is slightly thicker in consistency to others I have tried before, a little however goes a very long way. The tiniest of drops can clean my whole body as well as keeping my skin soft and well hydrated – there is no need to moisturise after using this.

The Yuzu and Cocoa scent is amazing, it’s like swimming in a sea of Jaffa Cakes. It really is my idea of heaven. My mum was pushing me around Sainsbury’s once and I had used the shower cream earlier that day, I noticed that I could really smell the box of jaffa cakes on the shelf, it wasn’t until a little while later when we were in the freezer section that I thought to myself wow I can still smell the jaffa cakes, I then realised it was in fact me that smelt like jaffa cakes! The Yuzu and Cocoa scent stays with you ALL DAY, I haven’t come across another Lush scent that lasts so long, it truly is beautiful.

Packed with tonka, grapefruit and bergamot oils Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream is the perfect pick me up product, I always find using it lifts my mood. Since discovering Lush I have completely changed my mind set on grapefruit. Growing up I hated it but for some reason, every product that Lush creates with grapefruit in really, really impresses my nose. So there you go, Lush have persuaded me to break a habit of a lifetime, I now, thanks to this shower cream and the Frozen Bath Bomb, have a level of appreciation for grapefruit that I have never had before.

Lush Kitchen really need to make a whole load more Yuzu and Cocoa scented products as the bubbleroon and shower cream just isn’t enough for me any more, I NEED MORE! Imagine a Yuzu and Cocoa shower jelly or body lotion, wow.

You have got to try the Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream at least once, it is now also available in all Lush stores not just Oxford Street!  there really isn’t an excuse to not try it now, do it! you will not regret it.

Lava Lamp Bath Bomb from Lush

Back in 2015 the Lava Lamp Bath Bomb was one of the first products I used from Lush Oxford Street. Back then, it was exclusive to that one store in the whole world!

Luckily, I grew up in London and used to travel there and back to where I live now quite a bit, so I didn’t miss out on all of the new products for long.

In my opinion Lava Lamp is the most creative and well thought out bath bomb ever made by Lush.

The name didn’t make sense until I had actually used it, I fell in love with it as soon as I realised why it was called Lava Lamp.

Lava Lamp is a bright almost fluorescent orange bath bomb with 3 purple dots. The purple dots in it are actually tiny chips of solid bath oil.

As the bath bomb fizzes away, the bath oil bits break free and sink to the bottom of the bathtub. 

As the bath oil warms up because of the heat of the bath water it slowly turns to liquid and rises – just like a lava lamp does when you switch it on and let it warm up!

The Lava Lamp bath bomb contains fair trade organic cocoa butter, extra virgin olive oil, organic castor oil, orange flower absolute, tangerine oil and Sicilian Mandarin oil.

Some say that the Lava Lamp bath bomb smells the same as chocolate orange, I however do not agree. I love chocolate orange and although Lava Lamp is very orangey, I don’t feel like it smells like it has chocolate in it, at all.

It’s just a sweet orange fragrance that leaves you thirsty for more.

The original Lava Lamp bath bomb was actually recalled shortly after its Lush Oxford Street debut. I honestly never had a problem with it myself, but some people said that the ‘purple bits’ kept falling out of it before they had, had the chance to use the bath bomb and others said that the purple bits mixed with the orange water had stained their bath.

When using Lush products in the bathtub I have one rule that helps to avoid any staining mishaps. I always make sure that my bath is spotlessly clean, I know it’s a lot of effort but who wants to get into a dirty bath anyway? it is the bath grime that any bath bomb colour cling to (soap scum and dead skin, eww)

The cleaner your tub before using a bath bomb the better! My secret weapon is dish washer soap as it cuts through grease and grime so easily. A Quick splash of Fairy liquid and a sponge run around the bath is all you need to do to keep your bath sparkling.

Thankfully Lush reformulated the Lava Lamp bath bomb and at the time of writing this review it is back as an Oxford Street exclusive.

The newer version is not much different from the older one, but I can see that they have improved it ever so slightly. I say ‘slightly’ as I believe the original was already perfect, I was gutted that it had been taken away so suddenly.

The only thing about this bath bomb is that you do have to rinse off your body once you’ve used it. Something I’ve never had to do with any other Lush bath bomb.

The first time I ever used it I couldn’t rinse it off because we’d run out of hot water. Instead of rinsing it off I had to pat myself down with a towel.

I was worried it would stain the towel, but it didn’t, the purple marks on the towel washed out in the washing machine with no issues.

Now Lush have reformulated the Lava Lamp bath bomb, it rinses off of your skin a lot easier than it used to making it a lot more practical than its original version.

Overall, I LOVE the Lava Lamp bath bomb, my skin feels fabulous after using it and it leaves me smelling delicious too. Yes, it’s a little messy but messy can be fun.

I hope that Lava Lamp sticks around for some time as like I said earlier, it’s so well thought out. I wish I could give the inventor a high five, there’s never been a cleverer bath bomb!
