Back when the Guardian of the Forest Bath Bomb first came out it was an Oxford Street exclusive, this meant that it was only available in one store in the whole world. I’m incredibly lucky as I have been able to visit Lush Oxford Street several times since it opened its doors in April 2015.

Lush have however recently made all of the exclusive to Oxford Street products available to buy via the Lush Kitchen on their UK website, getting a hold of the exclusive products is now much easier for everyone, no matter where you are in the world.

The Guardian of the Forest bath bomb is 2 shades of green. It has an intricate raised leaf pattern that makes it unique to any other Lush bath bomb. If I was describing it in a book I would compare it to an enchanted and somewhat handsome looking cabbage… Yes, you did read that right! 😂

The Guardian of the Forest bath bomb contains cypress and rosewood oils which is what gives this bath bomb that woody, fresh-forest-scent. It also contains lime oil although I couldn’t personally detect any scent wise. I think the cypress and rosewood oils softens the kick of the lime somewhat. What I thought was going to be a zesty and refreshing bath bomb was actually very earthy and peppery.

I have however read reviews of this bath bomb online and quite a few people are describing Guardian of the Forest as having a REALLY citrusy scent.

The citrus products are normally my favourite, we just seem to gravitate towards each other, I just can’t smell any lime in this bath bomb at all. With people describing Guardian of the Forest’s scent as incredibly citrusy, I feel like I have missed out on something?

Regardless of the mystery of this bath bombs ‘hidden’ citrus scent, I really do enjoy using the Guardian of the Forest bath bomb.

Once the bath bomb has completely dissolved you are left with gorgeously-green, lustre filled bath water. When I very first used it I couldn’t help but think of the, The Wizard of Oz. Soaking myself in a Guardian of the Forest bath leaves me feeling relaxed and carefree.

My skin really enjoys itself too, most bath bombs soften my skin somewhat, this bath bomb is however a little more luxurious, it makes my skin feel incredible. It looks brighter and is super smooth for the rest of the day after using it.

Overall I am really impressed with the Guardian of the Forest bath bomb and I am surprised that I did like it so much and so soon. The earthy Lush products normally take me a while to warm to, maybe I liked this one so much because of the lime oil, (even if I can’t detect it myself…)

I am really happy that Lush have made Guardian of the Forest more readily available for all as it really is a fantastic edition to Lush’s bath bomb family! 😊

Lava Lamp Bath Bomb from Lush

Back on the 24th of April 2015 Lush opened the doors of their brand new, London based Flagship store. They couldn’t have come across a better shop space. Located slap bang in the middle of the central line tube stations, Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court road.

Lush Oxford Street is the largest Lush shop in the world. Boasting 3 floors, it has plenty of space for all of the Lush junkies that venture there to explore.

When the opening of the shop was announced, the Lush community was alight with excitement. Often described as the cosmetics equivalent of Disney land, Lush Oxford Street is every Lush fans dream come true.

Not only was there a massive new flagship store opening up, Lush Oxford Street would also contain over 100 never-before-released exclusive Lush Oxford Street products!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to the new Oxford Street store until mid August 2015. I was however still lucky as despite no personal visit, friends had posted a couple of products to me to tide me over.

When I did eventually make it to the store, I was incredibly overwhelmed. With so many new and exciting products to choose from I really didn’t know where to start. On my very first visit I was adamant that I wouldn’t leave a stone unturned. I thought I had managed to see it all, I hadn’t. Of course I was more than happy to arrange another trip back once or twice. No damage done, if you don’t include the dent in my bank account anyway…

The first exclusive product I decided to use was the Lava Lamp bath bomb. It smells absolutely delicious and is what I will be reviewing today.

Some say that the Lava Lamp bath bomb smells the same as chocolate orange, I  however do not agree. I love chocolate orange and Lava Lamp (although very orangey) isn’t in my opinion chocolate orange.

The Lava Lamp bath bomb was actually recalled by Oxford Street in 2015. I honestly never had a problem with it myself. Some people however said that the ‘purple bits’ kept falling out and that the purple and orange had stained their bath.

When using Lush products in the bath tub I have one rule that helps to avoid any bath bomb mishaps. I always make sure that my bath is spotlessly clean, I know it’s a lot of effort but who wants to get in to a dirty bath anyway? it is the bath grime that the colours mainly cling to, therefore the cleaner your tub the better!

Thankfully Lush have now reformulated Lava Lamp and it is back as an Oxford Street exclusive. It’s not much different from the previous version but I can see that they have improved it ever so slightly. I say ‘slightly’ as I believe the original was already perfect, I was literally gutted that it had been taken away so suddenly. The reformulated bath bomb’s purple bits however now do not fall out, the bath also only needs a quick rinse with the shower head rather than a scrub and rinse.

In my opinion Lava Lamp is the most creative and well thought out bath bomb ever made by Lush. The name didn’t make sense until I had actually used it, I fell in love with it as soon as I realised why it was called Lava Lamp.

Lava Lamp is a bright almost fluorescent-orange, it looks like it has been taken straight out of the 60’s,  The purple dots as described above are in fact tiny chips of solid oil.  As the bath bomb fizzes away, the solid oil breaks free and sinks to the bottom of the bath tub. As the oil warms up in the water it slowly turns to liquid and rises – just like a lava lamp does when you switch it on.

The only thing about this bath bomb is that you do have to rinse off your body with the shower hose before getting out.  The first time I ever used it I couldn’t rinse off because my boyfriend had used all of the hot water from the showers supply, he loves a long, hot shower.

Instead of rinsing it off I had to pat my self down with a towel, I was worried it would stain but it didn’t, the towel washed out in the washing machine easy peasy. Now they have reformulated it, it rinses off of your skin a lot easier than it used to. It is a lot more practical than previous versions. I hope that Lava Lamp sticks around this time!
