Snowball Bath Bomb from Lush

The Snowball Bath Bomb is yet another brand-new product from this year’s Christmas line-up.

There has never been a bath bomb quite like it either; Each Snowball bath bomb is hand pressed without a bath-bomb-mould so that it looks just like an actual snowball.

I promise they aren’t just ‘imperfect’ bath bombs made by the Lush manufacturing team after helping themselves to the whisky that was meant to be left out for Santa!

The Snowball bath bomb contains eucalyptus, lemongrass, and peppermint oil. Its scent is fresh and crisp which is just how I would also describe snow;

Eucalyptus is a popular ingredient to use if you’re feeling under the weather and features heavily in anything made to help manage the symptoms of a common cold, this is due to its decongestant and antibacterial properties. It is perfect for this time of year.

The Snowball is a sharply scented and incredibly refreshing bath bomb, its scent alone can help clear and balance your mind as well as banishing away any Winter blues.

The Lush website tells you to not be fooled by the Snowball bath bombs initial ‘low-key’ appearance, it may look just like a snowball but inside it’s a whole different story.

As soon as the Snowball bath bomb touches your bath water you are greeted with a burst of ice-white-foam. The Snowball bath bomb floats around for a good 5 minutes spilling out just white, then suddenly blue foam begins to spill out of it too.

At first, I thought that the blue foam wasn’t going to last for very long, but I was wrong… If you’ve had the pleasure of using the Frozen bath bomb before, you wouldn’t be completely bonkers to think that the bath art photos below were created by the Frozen bath bomb.

Surprisingly once it gets going, the Snowball bath bombs bath art is almost identical to that created by the Frozen bath bomb. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the beautiful, blue and shimmery bath art swirls.

The bath art seems to go on forever, after about 10 minutes the Snowball bath bomb is finally fully dissolved.

The water left behind is soft and cooling on the skin, it isn’t quite as sparkly as the water left behind from the aforementioned Frozen bath bomb but it is a very similar blue, with a slight pearlescent shimmer.

Out of all of the new bath bombs from this year’s Winter line, the Snowball bath bomb was the one that surprised me the most. Just like the So White bath bomb from the 2016 Winter line I was not expecting such colourful insides!

The scent is also beautiful and suits the idea of snow perfectly. Alongside the latest version of the Jingle Bells bath bomb I don’t think there has ever been a more powerfully awakening duo, both are well worth a try and 2 products that I’d love to see come back next year too.

Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub from Lush

Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub

One of the very first products that I ever got from Lush was a pot of lip scrub, from the very first use I was hooked. Previous to this I had never used an exfoliator for my lips that worked better. I now only use Lush lip scrubs. Before the release of the Black Rose Naked Lip Scrub, Lush’s lip scrubs had always been sold in a glass 25g pot. Lush are however striving to change the cosmetic industry by creating packageless ‘naked’ products. Enter Lush’s NEW naked lip scrubs.

The main ingredient in all of Lush’s lip scrubs is caster sugar. I was blown away that a product with such a basic ingredient list worked so much better than any other expensive exfoliators that I had tried and hated. Caster sugar is the perfect ingredient for gentle yet effective exfoliation. Making a naked and solid version of their much loved potted lip scrubs is quite literally the best idea Lush have ever had.

The potted lip scrubs work like a dream but since trying the naked versions I doubt i’ll be buying the potted versions ever again. Lush have managed to improve what I already deemed as perfect, I honestly raved about the potted lip scrubs but they are nothing compared to the new naked versions. Black Rose is from the Yummy Yummy Yummy scent family and therefore shares its scent with the much loved Roller bath bomb. It has a beautiful and light fruity scent and one that I don’t mind using on my lips at all.

The difference between the naked and potted lip scrubs apart from the obvious is that the naked lip scrubs are solid, when I have been asked to describe how the new naked lip scrub feels I always compare it to a sugar cube.

With the lip scrub being solid you can apply so much more pressure on your lips during application, it makes buffing away the dry bits of skin so much easier than it was before. If you have long nails like me then you’ll be pleased to know that there is also no more trouble fishing the product out of the pot. In the photo above I have already used the lip scrub 6 times. A little goes more than a long way and it works quickly and with minimum effort.

All you have to do is rub it on your lips in a similar way you would put lipstick on. Once you feel satisfied you then just wipe the sugar away to reveal smooth and lovely looking lips, some even just lick it off! it’s perfectly safe to do so too.

Another thing I noticed is how moisturising the Black Rose lip scrub was I wasn’t expecting that at all, especially considering that it’s a solid product. I am over the moon with the Black Rose naked lip scrub, I don’t think I have ever been more satisfied in a product before. I am so excited to try and review the others too.

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar from Lush

This precious little formation of melt is called the Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar, it was first released for Halloween 2016 and must have made quite the impression as it has made a return for Halloween 2017 too. There were so many brand new products last year that unfortunately some of the smaller less in-your-face products such as the Goth Fairy were overshadowed. This is why I had left reviewing it for so long. Now I have seen that it has made a return for a second year I guess I should spill how I feel about it…

Lush shimmer bars are basically massage bars but with shimmer. A bit like a body moisturiser you apply it to your arm legs and possibly chest, working it into your skin just as you would a massage bar. I have also heard of some using it on their face as highlighter. The Goth Fairies purpose is to adorn your skin in shimmer as well as decorate it with a light and fruity scent.

The Goth Fairy shimmer bar shares its scent with the discontinued and very much missed, Space Girl bath bomb. It glides on to your skin effortlessly and leaves your skin  looking and feeling well nourished with a subtle sparkle which is perfect for a night out.

The only negative I have on the Goth Fairy is its small size, I remember being presented with it last year and thinking, ‘oh… is that all of it?’. A little however does go a long way and it is a product you do use sparingly, that is unless you really do want to look like a real life fairy!

Overall I do like this product, it works brilliantly on your arms and legs and I feel it gives the illusion of your limbs being thinner and longer. This is obviously not something everyone will want out of it but for this purpose I will be taking a Goth Fairy with me on my honeymoon at the end of the month. Originally I thought that the Goth Fairy shimmer bar was a bit of a novelty product but after using it I can see myself always reaching for it for a night out. It wouldn’t be an everyday product for me but on the rare occasion that I do go out, I would definitely use it.
