Ochre Bath Bomb from Lush

Previously known as the Uluru bath bomb The newly named Ochre Bath Bomb is an orange and dusky pink bath bomb designed in a very similar way to the Frozen bath bomb.

It is mostly orange but has a dusky pink belt around its middle (the same way that the Frozen bath bomb is mostly light blue with a dark blue belt.)

The colours of this bath bomb have been very cleverly selected for showcasing a kaleidoscope of Australian sunset colours; Oranges, yellows, pinks, and corals.

The Ochre bath bomb has a wonderful mix of summery ingredients, Brazilian orange, sandalwood, and lemon myrtle oils to name just a few. Scent wise the Ochre bath bomb is quite literally Summer in bath bomb form. It is perfect for anyone missing the sunshine, especially at this time of year.

At the time of writing this review, the Ochre bath bomb last appeared in January 2024’s ‘Rise & Shine’ Lush Kitchen subscription box BUT under its old name, it used to feature on the weekly Lush Kitchen menu quite regularly.

The Ochre bath bomb is a gloriously rich, citrus-scented product. If you have read any of my previous Lush reviews, you’ll know that I tend to favour the citrus products as I feel they are an easy way to add a spring to your step.

The Ochre bath bomb on its scent alone is a citrus fans dream product and once it gets plonked into your bath water the scent just gets better and better!

The Ochre bath bomb isn’t great bath art wise BUT what it lacks in bath art, it well makes up for with its zingy scent.

Once placed in the water the Ochre bath bombs scent totally dominates the bathroom and leaves you feeling refreshed and content.

Packed with a shed load of coarse-sea-salt, the Ochre bath bomb is not only an excellent product for softening and hydrating your skin but also great for tired and sore muscles too.

The Ochre bath bomb is quite a fast fizzer which isn’t a negative, the fact it dissolves so quickly in the water means that I can lay back and relax a lot quicker than I can when using other bath bombs, it also means I get a little longer to soak in the beautiful Ochre bath water too.

Up against its shower gel equivalent the Uluru shower gel, the Ochre bath bomb is far more moisturising for your skin; Both leave your skin appearing brighter and feeling softer but the bath bomb is definitely the better option for dehydrated skin.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Ochre bath bomb, I was a little disappointed with the lack of bath art it created but its scent and how it makes my skin feel after using it well makes up for there not being any.

Intergalactic Body Scrub from Lush

The Intergalactic Body Scrub is a brand-new Lush product that (at the time of writing this review) has only ever been available as an exclusive product in December 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box. I haven’t heard any news that it will be released elsewhere, but it has been a hugely popular product so Lush would be wise to make more.

I was pleased to see that the pot of Intergalactic body scrub in December 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box was a big one at 290g. In November’s subscription box we had the Tropical Co-Mingle body scrub only in a 100g pot and I could have really done with a bigger pot.

The Intergalactic body scrub is just like the bath bomb of the same name, a vibrant mix of blue, yellow and pink. Consistency wise I was hoping it would be just like the Barbie Dream sugar scrub, but it is closer to the likes of the foaming body scrubs such as, Celebrate.

The Intergalactic body scrub’s scent is as its name suggests, Intergalactic scented. Intergalactic is a very popular scent-family amongst Lush customers and has featured in several quite recently released products such as the Intergalactic bubble bar. The scent is however best known in its bestselling product format, the Intergalactic bath bomb

The Intergalactic body scrub contains a long list of ingredients, some of those included are, caster sugar, fair trade organic cocoa butter, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic illipe butter, mango butter, peppermint oil, grapefruit oil, vetivert oil and cedarwood oil.

The fact that the Intergalactic body scrub is a sugar-based scrub was what made me think it would be just like the Barbie Dream sugar scrub but as I said earlier, consistency wise it’s more like Lush’s foaming body scrubs minus the foam.

I loved the consistency of the Barbie Dream sugar scrub so was really hoping the Intergalactic body scrub would be the same. While the Intergalactic body scrub isn’t the same as Barbie Dream it is in no way a bad scrub, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

A very small amount of the Intergalactic body scrub goes a very long way, I scoop out about 3 fingers worth, this amount can easily scrub my whole body twice.

I recommend starting off by working it into wet skin slowly as this seems to get the most out of it as a scrub. Once you feel like you have scrubbed enough add a little bit more water and speed up the rubbing-in to make it lather up. It’s an excellent product for both cleansing and exfoliating your skin.

The one thing that I feel I need to point out is that less is more when it comes down to Lush’s body scrubs. The Intergalactic body scrub in particular has a lot of moisturising butters and oils in so using too much can leave your skin a little slick. If you do find it a little too hydrating a splash of the (same scented) Intergalactic shower gel helps to lift some of the skins excess moisture without leaving your skin dry.

After using the Intergalactic body scrub its sharp peppermint and grapefruit scent remains on your skin long after you have used it. It leaves your skin smoother, brighter-in-appearance and well hydrated. There is no need to moisturise after using it and I find it particularly good on my legs when used before shaving.

As scrubs go it’s just as good (if not better) as Lush’s foaming body scrubs. I love that it’s blue, pink, and yellow too. It’s such an interesting design, I’d love to see how Lush make it as the colours swirl so perfectly together and don’t bleed into one another in the pot either.

Overall, I love the Intergalactic body scrub. I hope that this isn’t the last we see of it so that other Lush customers who aren’t subscribed to the Lush Kitchen subscription box get to try it too!

Passion Fruit Exfoliating Shower Gel from Lush

The Passion Fruit Exfoliating Shower Gel is Lush’s first ever scrubby shower gel and has caused a huge wave of excitement within the Lush community.

At the time of writing this review the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel has only been available in November 2023’s Lush Kitchen subscription box.

The Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel is a jam red colour. The black dots that you can see in it are crushed passion fruit seeds. These alongside the fine sea salt and tagua nut powder that are also included in its ingredient, are what makes this shower gel ‘scrubby’.

Alongside the crushed passion fruit seeds, sea salt and tagua nut powder, the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel also contains fresh orange peel decoction, organic sweet orange oil, buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil, olibanum resinoid, champaca absolute and fresh papaya juice.

You may recognise the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gels scent if you were lucky enough to have tried the Princess Peach shower jelly and Princess Peach body spray from the limited edition, Lush X Super Mario Bros collaboration that was released back in March 2023.

The Princess Peach Lush-scent-family is a fruity blend of sweet peach and mouth-watering pineapple, it’s a very gentle fragrance (as far as Lush scents go anyway) BUT it still manages to be super uplifting. As I said in my review of the Princess Peach items before now, the scent truly is fit for a princess.

Consistency wise, the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel is quite thick but still very easy to get out of the bottle. I actually prefer Lush’s thicker shower gels as I find that sometimes the runnier gels are a lot easier to accidentally waste.

To use the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel, simply lather it up on your body in the same way as you would use an ordinary shower gel. The only difference being that while doing this you should focus a little more attention on the bits of your body that are in need of a little exfoliation; For me this is my arms, legs, knees, and chest.

The Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel lathers up quickly. The scent really comes alive when mixed with the hot water and steam of the shower too. As an exfoliator, it is pretty decent, but it is a very gentle one. It is better suited to those who aren’t looking for anything too invasive scrub-wise.

Although it wasn’t a particularly scrubby exfoliator it did leave my skin clean and slightly smoother than an ordinary shower gel would.

The scent stayed on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day too, I could also see that my skin appeared brighter after use, especially on the bits I paid more attention to during use.

Overall, I really have enjoyed getting to know the Passion Fruit exfoliating shower gel and I can’t wait to see what Lush come up with next!
