Hot Lips Lip Mask and Scrub from Lush

The Hot Lips Lip Mask and Scrub is the first of its kind from Lush. We’ve had similar with their eye pads before now, but have never had a lip mask.

Along with Hot Lips being a lip mask, it is also apparently a lip scrub. I was very intrigued when I heard about this aspect of Hot Lips as before now, all of Lush’s lip scrubs have been sold in a pot (for example, the Golden Pineapple lip scrub. There were a few solid lip scrubs that were released back in 2017 too, Black Rose being my favourite) but unfortunately, they didn’t sell well so got scrapped and have long been forgotten about…

As I said earlier, Hot Lips is made in a similar way to the fairly new Lush-product-invention, eye pads. Hot Lips has the same sturdy, jelly-like consistency and must be kept in your fridge until you’re ready to use it, staying fresh for 3 weeks.

Hot Lips is described on Lush’s website as being very similar in flavour, to a delicious Cherry Bakewell. Ingredients wise, Hot Lips contains, calendula petal and hibiscus flower infusion, carrageenan extract, bamboo stem extract (the scrubby aspect of the mask that I’ll talk more about later) and the following essential oils – davana, lime and almond.

To use Hot Lips as both a mask and scrub, there are 2 stages. Stage 1 is the lip mask aspect of it. All you have to do is take Hot Lips out of your fridge, unwrap it from its fully compostable wrapping paper, then place it on your lips for about 10 minutes. With it being fresh from the fridge, it’s extremely cooling on your lips. Sit back and relax and let Hot Lips soothe and smooth your lips.

Stage 2 of using Hot Lips is as a lip scrub. When I first got a hold of this product, I really wasn’t sure how well this product would work as a scrub. The grounded bamboo in Hot Lips however add a very gentle scrub like consistency. As you gently buff it over your lips it slowly starts to break down becoming scrubbier. While I don’t think Hot Lips is as good as a lip scrub as Lush’s potted ones, the mask stage did soften my lips somewhat and the scrub stage did make my lips feel somewhat smoother.

Would I recommend using Hot Lips more than once? No. In this products case, fresh is best. With it being a product for your lips and one you have to handle a lot to use, I would say you should only really use it the once.

Although, it is plenty big enough for you to cut it in half (and still have enough product to cover all your lips at the mask stage) so if you want to stretch out 2 uses from it, that is a good solution. You just won’t have the novelty side of the product as cut into 2, it won’t be lip shaped anymore.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Hot Lips lip mask and scrub. It was nice to experience a different type of lip scrub and I was surprised at just how well it did work. Hot Lips is a fantastic addition to Lush’s Valentine’s Day line, and I look forward to seeing what Lush next come up with!

Mr Loba Loba Bath Bomb from Lush

As soon as the 2022 Lush Valentine’s Day products were revealed, I knew that the Mr Loba Loba Bath Bomb would be the first one that I grabbed. As you can see from the above and below photos, Mr Loba Loba is a gorgeous little lobster shaped bath bomb with a sprinkling of biodegradable red confetti hearts decorating its body.

The Mr Loba Loba bath bomb is approximately 100g, similar in size to the Sleepy Bear and Tick-Tock bath bombs.

Mr Loba Loba is a gloriously bright red and as I mentioned earlier, is lightly decorated with a sprinkling of confetti hearts. I love the inclusion of these in bath bombs, just like the bath bombs that contain popping candy I feel the confetti hearts add something a little extra for your visual pleasure.

The Mr Loba Loba bath bomb contains benzoin resinoid, tonka absolute and almond essential oil. Its scent is sweet yet warm. It smells almost like a blend of vanilla and some type of berry fruit, the almond essential oil adds a nuttiness to its fragrance, rounding off the tonka absolute. It’s incredibly moreish and a scent I would like to see more of from Lush.

What with the recent price hike on all of Lush’s products, I’d say that the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb is actually a quite reasonable price. I can see a lot of Lush’s future bath bombs being of a similar size just so Lush don’t begin to price themselves out. I don’t normally mention exact prices in my reviews as Lush do change their prices a lot.

Sadly, bath bombs are single-use-products, and I can’t even see myself, (a self-confessed Lush addict) wanting to spend much more on a single bath bomb, maybe smaller Lush bath bombs like Mr Loba Loba are the way of the future, who knows?

As soon as the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with an explosion of red foam. I think it might just be the foamiest bath bomb that I have ever used from Lush.

Like the Lucky Tiger bath bomb, Mr Loba Loba isn’t a bath art creator, its unique selling point is its enchanting scent and just how foamy it is. It makes the most incredibly soft water and leaves your skin super hydrated.

As the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb floats around your bath, the red confetti hearts begin to break away from the bath bomb slowly decorating the water with perfect little love-hearts.

For its size the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb takes a lot longer to dissolve than I expected – a good 5 minutes. As I said earlier, it’s the foamiest bath bomb I have used in a very long time, this foam makes the water so, so soft and hydrating. My skin loved it; I didn’t want to get out of the bath.

Eventually, (and only because the water got too cold) I did have to get out of the bath and pull the plug. The scent remained on my skin for the best part of the rest of the day and left it feeling silky smooth!

Overall, I adore the Mr Loba Loba bath bomb. It’s a fantastic, novelty addition to the Valentine’s line. I’d love to see it year in, year out but am trying to not get too attached as Lush have a habit of making products like this one-hit-wonders…

Lucky Tiger Bath Bomb from Lush

The Lucky Tiger Bath Bomb is a product collaboration between Lush Japan and Lush’s Greater China teams to create an inclusive product specifically for the Lunar New Year celebrations. It was released at the start of January 2022 which happens to be the year of the tiger.

Last year, Lush created another product for Luna new year with the release of the Dragon Legend reusable bubble bar. I was incredibly excited to see that Lush had decided to celebrate the Lunar New Year again for 2022.

The Lucky Tiger bath bomb is the standard sized 200g bath bomb. It’s created in the shape of a tiger’s face. As a self-confessed crazy-cat-lady I of course couldn’t resist picking up a couple. It’s such a beautiful bath bomb with its big-bold cat eyes, tiger-stripes, and whiskers!

Lucky Tiger is a bright orange bath bomb coated in plastic-free, shimmery golden pigment (mica). It’s an incredibly sparkly bath bomb so not for the faint hearted, ALTHOUGH – I always feel like I must explain in my reviews of products like this that there’s no need to be afraid of anything sparkly.

When I first got into Lush the thought of using ‘glittery’ products terrified me. However, it’s not at all scary and after just one bath I was sold on all things shimmery. Bath bombs such as the Lucky Tiger make for very pleasant experiences, it’s not like jumping into a giant pot of glitter, I promise.

Lucky Tigers scent is from Lush’s scent family, Karma. It is a hugely popular, Lush-retro-fragrance that has featured in copious amounts of different Lush products, in several different formats over the years. The most recent Karma scented product that I have reviewed from Lush is the Karma Yantra bath bomb.

The Lucky Tiger bath bomb contains a long list of ingredients; Patchouli, Brazilian orange, lavandin, Siberian fir needle, lemongrass, and elemi oil. On paper you’d think all of those oils would clash terribly but in reality – all of them blended together work beautifully. Each ingredient compliments one another perfectly.

I’d say the most prominent ingredients to come through when I sniff the Lucky Tiger bath bomb are the patchouli, orange, and pine oils. The Karma scent is super refreshing – which I think is down to the orange and pine oils. The patchouli oil also adds a peppery almost spicy layer to its fragrance too. It quite simply oozes happiness and good vibes fitting right in with the ‘lucky’ theme!

As soon as the Lucky Tiger bath bomb touches the water you are greeted with a ferocious hiss. Small orange bubbles fizzle out of it as the water quickly turns bright orange. The golden shimmer also starts to spread around the water, swooshing it around and watching the sparkles catch the light is incredibly relaxing.

You don’t get any bath art out of the Lucky Tiger bath bomb and it’s not a foamy bath bomb either, the star point of the Lucky Tiger is its scent and how lovely it leaves your skin feeling. It’s a fairly fast fizzer leaving you with more time to immerse yourself in its ‘good vibe’ waters.

The Lucky Tiger bath bombs scent remained on my skin right through until the next day, I could still smell it on my dressing gown 2 days later too. It left my skin smooth and refreshed looking.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Lucky Tiger bath bomb, it’s a fantastic product inspired by a beautifully reflective and special time of year. I am looking forward to seeing what Lush come up with for Luna new year, 2023!
