Scrubee Body Butter from Lush

The Scrubee Body Butter has made its way on to my list of favourite, top 3 products from Lush’s 2017 Mother’s Day range. Scrubee is quite the product, it’s the perfect mix of both a body butter and exfoliator. It does a brilliant job at both hydrating and exfoliating your skin ALL at the same time.

I love a versatile product and this is why I hold Scrubee with such high regards. Containing plenty of soothing, antiseptic honey and creamy cocoa butter, Scrubee is an incredibly hydrating product that leaves your skin soft, hydrated and perfectly polished for days.

Scrubee also contains ground coconut shells and almonds, these have been added alongside the honey and cocoa to not only hydrate and soften skin but to gently exfoliate your skin too. Its scent is very similar to products with the Honey I Washed the Kids scent it however isn’t quite the same. There’s something a little bit more chocolatey about it than in products such as the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb.

A little bit of the Scrubee body butter goes a very long way, upon my first use I overindulged way too much and as fabulous as my skin felt it was just a very obvious waste of product. Now, a quick rub of it on my arms, legs and torso suffices. I’ve used some of Lush’s solid exfoliating products before and they are great but they rarely last past 2 uses. My Scrubee is on use 5 now and it doesn’t look much different at all, it is only a tiny bit smaller from use, there’s plenty of it left yet.

Do make sure you leave it somewhere it can dry off properly though, being constantly wet will stop it from lasting as long.

I am really pleased with the Scrubee body butter, it suits my skin so well, it actually feels like it was made for me. I will be so sad to see these go once Mother’s Day 2017 is over, I however have 2 in my storage until and if they both last as long as my first one has I don’t need to worry about living without it for quite some time!

Santasaurus Reusable Bubble Bar from Lush

When I first clapped eyes on the huge display of the Santasaurus Reusable Bubble Bars, I couldn’t help but grab one. It is always so exciting to get your hands on a brand new Lush product and even more so when it smells as good as the Santasaurus does.

The Santasaurus reusable bubble bar comes from the Honey I Washed the Kids scent family. Lush Cosmetics do so much more than mix random essential oils together. They master scents. Once a scent is mastered, over a very long period of time – sometimes years, they create an abundance of products that share that mastered scent. This is where the Lush term ‘scent family’ comes from. If a product shares the same scent as another, it’s a part of that scents family.

Honey I Washed the Kids happens to be one of Lush’s best selling scents, it features in several of their products, both from their permanent line and from their seasonal ones too.

My current favourite products from this scent family are the Honey I Washed my Hair shampoo bar, the old design of the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb and of course the new version of the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb.

Compared to the other Winter reusable bubble bars Santasaurus appears to be quite small. I am however well aware that size doesn’t matter especially when it comes to Lush products.

The actual bubble bar I am reviewing today could easily give you 3 generously bubbled, bubble baths.

If you are however looking to turn the bath water under the bubbles a darker green then I’d recommend splitting it between two baths. Spreading the use of it over 3 baths however gives you more than enough bubbles. You could always make it last longer by combining it with other Lush products in a Lush cocktail. I prefer to use this bubble bar sparingly as I feel if you use too much, the water goes a really icky and dark green, I prefer it lighter.

I hate to state the obvious but if you’re new to Lush it can be a little confusing and people do actually ask these questions so I’ll answer it. The difference between a reusable bubble bar versus a normal one is that the reusable bubble bars can be reused before and after it has been fully immersed by water.

The ordinary ones could probably do the same although the quality of it once it’s got wet won’t be nearly as good. With the ordinary ones I advise people to cut them up into little chunks, storing them somewhere dry and in jars. Once this is done all you have to do is grab a chunk or 2 from that jar if and when you want to use it.

The reusable ones are on a stick and are a little less faff. All you need to do is hold the reusable bubble bar under the running bath tap. Once you have the desired amount of bubbles all you then have to do is leave it somewhere where it can dry off.

Once used I find if you leave it where it can get splashed, or somewhere it will stay wet it doesn’t last.

If you however follow the above steps then the bubble bar is a very good one, so many people use them wrong and it’s a shame as they aren’t seeing the products true potential.

Overall I think the Santasaurus bubble bar is a great addition to the Lush Winter line, I’d maybe like to see it a little bulkier but honestly the size of it doesn’t affect the quality of it at all.

It’s a beautifully sweet product that will almost certainly leave you wanting to get another.

Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb from Lush

shoot-for-the-stars-bath-bomb I had this blog post drafted up and ready to post way back in November 2015. It had however unfortunately slipped into the deep and scarily dark land of lost blog posts… I was so sure that I had reviewed it but had convinced myself that I must have dreamt that I had reviewed it.

Although the Shoot for the Stars bath bomb isn’t currently available in the UK, Australia and New Zealand are currently having their yearly ‘Christmas in July’ sale, I’m not sure if this is one of the available products but I will still post this review today anyway. The rest of the world can bask in jealousy of Australia and New Zealand while reading my review.

Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb.

The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb is a blue, yellow and white, honey-lishous, toffee-sweet, ball of bicarbonate magic.

It shares it’s scent with a number of Lush’s most popular products. Some like Shoot for the Stars are seasonal, while others are available throughout the whole year.

The scents name is Honey I Washed the Kids. The Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar is probably my favourite out of all of the everyday range products that shares the same mouthwatering scent as Shoot for the Stars. Honey I Washed My Hair is in fact my most bought Lush shampoo bar, I really should pull my socks up and get on with a review for that product too! #Slacking

The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is very sweet, You can detect honey, toffee and hints of gooey caramel. It isn’t however sickly. I have never had much of a sweet tooth and my preferred tastes are the same as my preferred scents. I am so glad that I like this products scent as I was unsure at first. It features in so many Lush products that it would be a crime for me to not like it.

As soon as Shoot for the Stars hits your bath water, blue froth begins to foam out, floating on the top of the water. Yellows and whites soon follow and then a redish pink! The very first time I used Shoot for the stars it’s claret inside was a huge surprise, what I thought to be a pretty but cold coloured bath bomb, heated itself up with the addition of it’s dark red insides.

Another surprise that in my opinion is the cherry on top of this amazing bath bomb, is the addition of miniature confetti stars, they’re tiny and hard to get a photo of but you can see a few in the photo above.

They decorate the dark blue bath water perfectly. It’s like looking at the night sky.

The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb really is the perfect winters treat, I hope that Lush bring it back for the Winter 2016 range as it’s really not one I want to say goodbye to just yet. I still have a few left over from Christmas 2015 and I plan on holding on to them until I know fresh ones are on their way to me! 😉

Humpty Dumpty Bath Bomb from Lush

‘HUMPTY DUMPTY FELT A SHARP WHACK, HUMPTY DUMPTY HEARD A GREAT CRACK. ALL THE KING’S HORSES AND ALL THE KING’S STAFF FOLLOWED SWEET HUMPTY STRAIGHT INTO THE BATH…’

The wording above isn’t quite the same as the nursery rhyme you will remember from your childhood BUT I think I might just like this Lush-version a little bit more. It could actually be written about me.

As a sufferer of EDS I’m always losing balance and getting ‘sharp whacks’, I also always hear ‘great cracks’… Which is mostly my joints moaning that I’ve moved them too fast or too far, ha, ha… As for always being in the bath, it’s no secret. I am a loud and proud bath addict, it’s how I keep productive 😉

With so much in common me and Humpty Dumpty where obviously meant to be!

The Humpty Dumpty bath bomb was a part of the 2016 Lush Easter range and was quite the size.

The idea behind the bigger Easter bath bombs is that you crack the egg (bath bomb) in half (just like you would an Easter egg) and inside is a surprise… A miniature bath bomb in the shape of a fried egg!

Once you can get to the fried egg insert you should have 3 pieces of bath bomb that you can share between 3 baths. That is unless you are greedy like me and just end up chucking them all in together…

All pieces of the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb are Honey I Washed the Kids scented. Honey I Washed the Kids is one of Lush’s most famous scents. It can be found in a number of their products all year through. The Honey I Washed My Hair shampoo bar is probably my favourite out of all of the every day range products that share its scent.

The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is very sweet, I can pick out honey, toffee and hints of gooey caramel… It however isn’t at all sickly. When I first got into Lush I was really worried that I wouldn’t like anything from the Honey I Washed the Kids family, I could see so many products sharing the scent and was concerned as most sweet scents I just can’t hack.

I have never had much of a sweet tooth and my preferred tastes are the same as my preferred scents. The Honey I Washed the Kids scent is however one of my favourites as it’s sweet but not sickly. I now always jump to try any of the Lush products associated with it.

Although the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb is huge, it doesn’t take long to fizz away once it comes in to contact with your bath water. This is the reason I always end up putting the 3 separate pieces in all at once.

Comparing the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb to other Honey I Washed the Kids scented bath bombs, I do favour the alternatives. The Shoot for the Stars bath bomb appeals to me more as it’s a slow fizzer and its scents has more throw.

Humpty Dumpty is a lovely Easter bath bomb, I however only had 2 from this years range as I found it more of a novelty product than anything else. If it does come back next year I think I will buy it again but not for myself, I’d get it for my nieces and nephews as an alternative to a chocolate Easter Egg. I like to get them something a little bit different than everyone else and they all love bath time so it’s perfect for them as a treat.
