Besties Bubble Bar from Lush

The Besties Bubble Bar is a brand-new, limited edition, Lush product that is a proud, stand-out member of this years (2022) Mother’s Day line. It first became available in the middle of February 2022 and has proven very popular since its release.

The Besties bubble bar is designed to look like an adult and baby giraffe having a cuddle, can a bubble bar get any cuter? I think not…

This year’s Mother’s Day line is packed full of some of the cutest products Lush have ever created, there seems to be a bit of an animal theme going on and I can’t get enough of it!

Besties bubble bar is bright yellow with bright pink spots, its scent is a part of Lush’s Celebrate scent-family. The Celebrate scent is hugely popular and features in many Lush products, I believe the most recently released products that share its fragrance are the Golden Pudding bath bomb and Celebrate body spray.

Besties contains, Brazilian orange and lime oils. Its scent is warm, bubbly, and full of citrusy goodness. It literally smells of happiness. Even just a quick whiff of it always puts a smile on my face.

The scent seems to work in whatever product format Lush make it into. To this day, Lush have never released a Celebrate scented product that I haven’t liked.

The Besties bubble bar is 120g so a little bit smaller than the, The Comforter bubble bar. The one thing I love about Lush’s bubble bars over their bath bombs is that they can be spread out over several baths. You could easily get 3 adequately bubbled bubble baths out of just the one Besties bubble bar.

I know some people will use the whole bar in one bath and it’s all down to personal preference, I do however recommend spreading it out so that you get more for your money.

Spreading it out over 2 or 3 baths does not hinder how well it works bubble and scent wise either. A small amount of this bubble bar goes a very long way!

To use the Besties bubble bar, I put broken up pieces of it into a sieve and let the running bath-water trickle over it. I find this the most effective way to use single use bubble bars.

This method is also the best way to ensure none of the bubble bar gets accidentally wasted and through trial and error, I have found that this method makes the most bubbles.

It doesn’t take long for the blanket of fluffy white bubble to form, underneath is bright yellow, citrusy scented, silky-smooth bath water.

The scent and bubbles last throughout my whole time in the bath and the silky-smooth water leaves my skin feeling and appearing brighter. I wouldn’t say the Besties bubble bar is particularly moisturising, but it didn’t dry out my skin at all.

Overall I really enjoyed using the Besties bubble bar, its scent is perfect, and its design is one of the cutest I have seen from Lush. There’s just something about Lush products with faces! Besties was almost too cute to use but I can never resist using a Celebrate scented product!

I hope Besties comes back for Mother’s Day next year although I doubt it will as Lush are famous for making ‘one time’ products.

Flamingo Egg Bath Bomb from Lush

The Flamingo Egg Bath Bomb was first released by Lush as a part of 2021’s Easter line, this year it has made, what seems to be for most people, a much-welcomed return.

One side of this popular egg-shaped bath bomb is pink, and the other is blue; Both sides have a cracked-shell-effect look and the pink side has a little bit of extra added detail, it’s decorated with a sprinkling of sparkly sea salt.

It is approximately 195g so just a tiny bit smaller than the average sized all-year-round bath bombs; Twilight and Intergalactic.

The Flamingo Egg bath bomb contains both lemon and vetivert oils, as well as labdanum resinoid and coarse sea salt. Its scent is quite tame for Lush and is described on Lush’s website as ‘cotton-candy scented’.

As soon as the Flamingo Egg bath bomb meets the water there is an explosion of blue and pink foam. Colour and bath art wise, the Flamingo Egg is just like the, The Elephant in the Tea Room bath bomb.

I said in that review that I was growing tired of the pink and blue bath bombs; This is also a huge reason as to why I am only reviewing this bath bomb now instead of when it was first released last year.

The Flamingo Egg bath bomb takes approximately 6 to 7 minutes to dissolve. Its scent also becomes a bit more prominent once the bath bomb is added to the hot bath water.

It’s not a scent I’d usually go for if I was shopping in store, BUT I always strive to try everything from the limited-edition and seasonal lines at least once, as quite often I am left impressed by products I’d never normally consider trying.

The water left behind by the Flamingo Egg bath bomb is silky soft and a dark shade of purple, it is not dissimilar to the waters left behind by the Monsters’ Ball bath bomb. The bath bomb softens the water a lot, leaving my skin with a gentle tingling feeling as I lay back in its waters.

Overall, I don’t dislike the Flamingo Egg bath bomb I just think I’m bored of the same old bath art, over and over. There are so many other colour combinations Lush could use but lately Lush just seem to be going for the same colour schemes with every bath bomb.

I admit that I was shocked to see it make a return alongside the Follow the White Rabbit bath bomb this year. I much preferred the Eggy Wegg bath bomb and was sure that was the bath bomb that would be returning with the Follow the White Rabbit bath bomb.

Yummy Custard Body Wash from Lush

The Yummy Custard Body Wash is a brand-new, limited edition, 2022 Mother’s Day product. This year’s range isn’t as large as those from years before BUT each product in it is of the highest standard. I much prefer quality over quantity and this year’s Mother’s Day line is the best seasonal line we’ve had in a long time.

Yummy Custard body wash contains vanilla oat milk, fair trade organic aloe vera gel, corn starch, vanilla pod powder and glycerine.

It shares its scent with the Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser and the now discontinued, Nana shower gel. Both of those products are loved by all in my household so the chance of trying a body wash equivalent had us all eager to try it.

In October 2021, Lush released another body wash called Posh Chocolate. Yummy Custard is very similar consistency wise. It’s a lot like the butter icing you get on the last slice of a big cake, almost solid on the outside but fluffy and creamy underneath that very thin outer layer.

As you can see in the photo above, Yummy Custard is a creamy off-white colour and is speckled with tiny black vanilla seeds. A little amount of it goes a very long way making it excellent value for money.

It’s creamy consistency just glides onto your skin, melting and sinking in like butter on hot toast; It’s amazing for my dry skin. It’s quite literally the best in-shower-product that I have used on my dry skin.

It instantly soothes and my skin has never looked so well nourished and smooth in such a short space of time. One minute my skin is dry, the next I use Yummy Custard and it’s like my skin was never dry at all!

To use, all you’re meant to do is scoop a little amount of it out of the pot and then slather it all over your body. You just massage it in, concentrating a little more on your dryer areas such as your elbows and knees, then you simply rinse it off. I then just pat myself dry with a towel.

The tiny black vanilla seeds in it do not scratch or irritate you at all, if I’m being honest, I don’t even notice them – Amazingly, its sweet popcorn like fragrance remained on my skin right into the next day, my skin is also just as smooth and nourished 24 hours after using it too, something I was pleasantly surprised with.

I will most certainly be taking a large pot of this on my next sunny holiday, I can imagine it feeling amazing on your skin after a long day in the sun. I love how gentle the formula is too. My skin has never felt so good!

If you love the Posh Chocolate body wash then I highly recommend you trying out Yummy Custard. I think I may in fact like Yummy Custard more than I do Posh Chocolate…

Overall, I LOVE the Yummy Custard body wash, it is so much more than just your standard body wash, my skin is quite dry but I could see it working just as well as on all skin types. I can’t get over how amazing it makes my skin feel. You really do have to grab a pot while it’s still available.
