Human Rights Showder from Lush

The Human Rights Showder is Lush’s latest charity product. All of the money (minus VAT) from the sales of this product goes to support the vital work of EachOther, a small UK-focused charity that uses independent journalism, storytelling and film making to tell the stories that would otherwise go unheard.

The Human Rights showder is raising awareness that in the UK, the essential human rights that we all rely on to protect us are under threat. Our rights exist to protect us all from persecution and safeguard the most marginalised members of our society.

Here’s a direct link to the EachOther Instagram page (EachOtherUK) so you can get a better idea on what Lush and Eachother are trying to achieve together. The UK are currently up against potentially being pulled out of the European Court of Human Rights, something that I believe shouldn’t even be up for discussion.

Thank you to Lush for sending me out a box of this so that I could be a part of the campaign. As a disabled woman the idea behind losing any more than I already have, terrifies me.

For anyone who hasn’t experienced a Lush showder before, I suspect you’re wondering what a showder even is… A showder is quite simply a shower-powder. To use a showder all you have to do is take a handful of the powder from its box, then add water.

The Showder then foams up and creates a lovely thick lather. The reaction is not dissimilar to how a bath bomb reacts when it first gets wet. Once you have it all mixed up, you use it just as you would a shower gel.

Human Rights is a sky blue colour, just like its box. It shares its scent with Salt Water Soother bath bomb and contains a mixture of extra virgin coconut, peppermint, eucalyptus and spearmint oil. Its scent is super uplifting, using it in the morning gives me a real boost.

Scent wise, the most dominant of the oils in the Human Rights showder that I can smell are the spearmint and eucalyptus. Before now, I have reviewed showders and mentioned how impractical a carboard boxed product is for the shower.

However, the Human Rights showder seems to be in a much easier to handle box than previous showders. While you still can’t keep the box in the shower with you, getting a small amount of the showder out is a lot easier to do now, I now just grab a small handful before I jump in the shower. All you need to do is tip a little out into your hand.

As showders go, I was surprised at how far the showder powder goes, normally I’d have to use quite a lot of showder to get a decent lather but the Human Rights showder foams up quickly and creates a soft yet scrubby foam that not only cleans your skin but leaves your skin feeling cool too.

I am going to be taking full advantage of this showders cooling properties and energy boosting fragrance when Summer finally arrives!

American Cream Bath Bomb from Lush

Today I am reviewing the brand-new American Cream Bath Bomb from Lush’s 2024 World Bath Bomb Day collection.

Out of all of Lush’s brand-new bath bombs it was the American Cream one that first caught my eye because of its unique design. It’s a snow-white bath bomb decorated with small hot-pink stars.

All of Lush’s bath bombs are handmade, each of the stars in the American Cream bath bomb are actually mini, star-shaped bath bombs. I can’t believe how precise each star is, it’s a bath bomb work of art!

I wish Lush were still on social media so that we could see the making, and all of the other behind-the-scenes stuff as I love to see the whole process, especially with a bath bomb as detailed as American Cream.

The American Cream bath bomb contains coarse sea salt, vanilla absolute, clary sage oil, lavender oil, benzoin resinoid and strawberry powder.

It shares its scent with several hugely popular products such as the American Cream hair conditioner, American Cream shower gelMarshmallow World bath bomb and most recently the Gary the Snail bath bomb too.

Lush describe the American Cream bath bomb as a ‘creamy vanilla and sweet strawberry’ scented bath bomb ‘with a fragrance reminiscent of strawberry-vanilla milkshakes in 1950s American diners.’

I’ll admit, the American Cream scent family has never been my favourite of Lush’s many fragrances, but it has grown on me over the years. I find it reminds me of the tree-shaped car-air-fresheners that were popular when I was growing up.

Each of the American Cream bath bombs are approximately 190g each fitting easily in my hand.

As soon as the American Cream bath bomb comes into contact with your bath water, white foam starts to spill out of it shortly after, small pink streaks start to foam out of it too.

After another couple of minutes, I could also see the signs of something blue coming from the American Cream bath bomb, this was a complete surprise to me as I thought it was going to create only pink and white bath art.

As always, the photos in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all.

Although there were small signs of blue bath art beginning to come out of the American Cream bath bomb alongside the pink and white, it wasn’t enough for me to pick it up clearly on camera. If you zoom in on the below photo you can almost see it has a slight blue tinge.

Even without the blue, the pink and white bath art that the American Cream bath bomb created was absolutely incredible. The bath bomb charged around my bath creating its perfect pink and white swirls for a good 10 minutes!

The water left behind by the American Cream bath bomb was however my most favourite thing about the bath bomb.

I admit I am biased when it comes to anything pink (as I can never get enough of the colour) but the end bath water from American Cream is a pink fans idea of heaven!

I wish I could have got a decent photograph of the bath water to share here, it was a baby pink and so, so shimmery. I felt bad pulling the plug out at the end as it was that beautiful.

The American Cream water left my skin lightly fragranced and really soft to the touch. I couldn’t help but notice how hydrated my skin looked after using it too.

Overall, I have to say that I am completely in love with the American Cream bath bomb, as I said earlier it isn’t my favourite Lush-scent-family but wow does it create some incredible bath art.

The American Cream bath bomb has left me so excited to try all of the other new bath bombs and I’m now more open to trying more Lush-scent-families that I haven’t always got on well with!

Thermal Waves Bath Bomb from Lush

In celebration of World Bath Bomb Day 2024, Lush Cosmetics have released 29 bath bombs that consist of some much-loved golden oldies (some as they were and some even super-sized) as well as a shedload of brand-new bath bombs too!

Today I am reviewing the brand-new Thermal Waves Bath Bomb.

I don’t think I have ever included so many photos of a product in one single review, how could I resist going completely overboard with photos when a product looks as good as the Thermal Waves bath bomb does?

The Thermal Waves bath bomb looks incredible.

Lush have released several overly colourful bath bombs over the last few years but none of them have looked quite like the Thermal Waves bath bomb.

Thermal Waves is the standard sized Lush bath bomb, each of them are approximately 180g each which is the same size as the Avobath bath bomb.

I’m not entirely sure on how many colours Lush have officially used in the Thermal Waves bath bomb but just holding it in my hand I can see red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue and purple.

With the Thermal Waves bath bomb having so many colours in it, I was very interested to see what the end water from the Thermal Waves bath bomb would look like.

If you ever had the opportunity to use the, The Experimenter bath bomb you’d know it was the go-to rainbow bath bomb in its day BUT all of the colours in it turned your bath water an icky grey/brown at the end.

The Thermal Waves bath bomb contains organic sweet orange oil, buchu oil, litsea cubeba oil, olibanum resinoid and champaca absolute.

It shares its scent with the Princess Peach body spray and Princess Peach shower jelly from 2023’s Lush X Super Mario Bros. collaboration. This was very exciting for me as I loved the Princess Peach fragrance and felt it was wasted as a limited-edition scent that we’d likely not get again.

The scent is best described as a fruity mix, reminiscent of a peach and pineapple cocktail so perfect for the Spring and Summer seasons.

As soon as the Thermal Waves bath bomb encounters your bath water there’s an explosion of foamy colour.

At first you get patches of red, orange, and yellow and then larger patches of purple and blue foam spills out of it too.

As the foam thins out, bursts of different colours began to break away from the bath bomb leaving small patches of colour with lots of little bubbles in.

As always, the photos I have included in this review do the bath bomb no justice at all. I could not stop taking photos, it really is a bath bomb you have to experience for yourself to truly see how beautiful it is.

What really surprised me about the Thermal Waves bath bomb was how it was layered colour wise.

It is such a clever design, once it has stopped foaming, it begins to dissolve away in its different colours. The red and orange disappears, and you then get dark blue, purple, yellow, and green bath art.

Then the red and orange comes back, it’s almost like you’re using several different bath bombs, I’d never have thought so many different colour combinations could come out of just one bath bomb.

It takes about six or seven minutes for the Thermal Waves bath bomb to fully dissolve, and the water left behind is a very dark and sparkly purple, it is actually a very similar colour to my nails in the fourth photo of this review.

I really wasn’t expecting the end bath water to be anything other than a murky mess, but it was a deep, dark, super-inviting shade of purple.

The Thermal Waves bath bombs scent hangs around your bathroom for a few hours after pulling the plug. It lasts on your skin for a good four to six hours too.

My skin adored soaking up all of its ingredients and its light fruity scent left me craving more, I really hope Lush make more products in this scent soon as it’s delicious.

Overall, I love the Thermal Waves bath bomb, Lush would be silly to not introduce this as a mainline product in the near future!
